I am a tattoo artist & have been trying to learn about this tradition for years & how to keep it alive. Fantastic!💘

I stitched my hand at home with nothing just threads and needle and it really hurts so I didn't go much

If you're careful you can stitch the very top layer of your skin, it doesn't hurt at all and it's really easy! I just did it today actually hah

galactic potato ohh u probably stitched ur flesh than, not ur skin

This was very cool! I have one question though, is the stitching permanent? It seems like it would grow out.
@ta-to3tt7 жыл бұрын
of course it is permanent
@GavTatu4 жыл бұрын
gotta hit the permanent layers of skin with each stitch, but that comes with practice. not deep enough and it will drop out. but that doesn't mean you gotta dig it right in, lol !

Maybe the body would absorb the thread or reject it depending on what is used . In the 1750 s when they stopped doing it I doubt they had any inert threads but the ink they soak the thread with will certainly be permanent !

I tried to do it but I kept on ripping my skin. (I also have a fear of needles and bad eyesight so I probably didn't even get under the first layer of skin.)

i wonder why they continued with the stitching, instead of poking ? poking would seem a more efficient form.

Because of the culture. That simple

Yeah, so...what do I have to do to get some stitch tattoos?
@kilipaki87oritahiti4 жыл бұрын
Ryan Brennan You have to be Inuk (Inuit) 1st and foremost...
@GavTatu4 жыл бұрын
@@kilipaki87oritahiti does this apply to the technique, or the designs do you think?

@@wafflesthearttoad6916 to get inuk stitch tattoos, I would also say you have to be inuk. It’s their culture and I don’t think it’s right to just get their tattoos just because you find it cool or different.
@88Nikoli2 жыл бұрын
@@benjamin-sch people have been getting hand poked tattoos for years which is an Inuit ,Maori and Japanese technique you don't have to be from one of those cultures to do that just not their traditional designs ! Also the stitch tattoos were only performed on the Inuit women as far as I have heard !
