Ilya Zhitomirskiy In the liturgical reforms of the 19th century, the Church of Constantinople dropped the litanies between the Gospel and the Cherubic Hymn. (The prayers of the litanies are still to be said silently.) Many, if not all, the Byzantine churches followed suit, as Constantinople is their liturgical point of reference.

Do you do the litany of the catechumens and the litanies of the faithful, or do you directly pass from the Augmented Litany from the Cherubic Hymn as in the GOAA? I ask these questions because I am Orthodox, but I mostly attend Russian-tradition churches (OCA and ROCOR), but am not familiar with Byzantine (Greek and Antiochian) practices.

Why did the subdeacon say the little litanies and enter through the Royal Doors? In the Russian tradition the subdeacons only use the royal doors when escorting a bishop, and all litanies are said by a deacon or priest.
