hehe.. true story. I think he blows it most of the time.. whether it is the intro, or not. ;) I never negatively criticize fellow musicians, specially from the ease&comfort of sitting behind this screen.. but i want to be honest here : I don't feel the drummer belongs in this band's line-up. Not that he sucks.. It's just that the musical approach he has.. and the other guys have, doesn't fit, u know ? Ok..not that on the 4/4 really fat riffs it doesn't sound cool to be squaring off on open hi-hats and crash cymbals.. but on the more technical stuff..which is .. 3 out of 4 parts with these musicians.. the drummer just 'muds'/drenches everything.. with loud and very dry licks.. There are no themes, coming out from the drums.. there are no musical ideas.. He just follows what the guitars are doing.. and although the bassist is actually pretty good.. one can't feel the rhythmic tightness.. And don't even get me started on the timbres..tones and the general sound of the drum set.. ... I didn't expect the producer to give him the lead.. as this clearly is a guitar-centered song.... but.. the snare drum sucks pretty bad.. the kick and toms have no projection.. and the cymbals are unbalanced between them. All in all the drummer is also being hurt by this very important 'detail'. Off course.. the tones.. the timbres.. that's all a matter of taste.. but.. the song.. the Band! .. really deserved a different guy, and obviously a different drum set. It's just a pity. The song i like the most is the Walking by Faith (acoustic version) when the drummer is playing the cajon, and doesn't deviate the music from its course. Having said all of this.. the song is still very solid.. and the guitar themes rock ! Plus.. those Suhr freaking guitars man.. What a tone!.. What a tone..
