Book Launch: Revolutionaries : The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom by Sanjeev Sanyal
The history of India's struggle for freedom is usually told from the perspective of the non-violent movement. Yet, the story of armed resistance to colonial occupation is just as important. Names such as Vinayak Savarkar, Aurobindo Ghosh, Rashbehari Bose, Bagha Jatin, Sachindra Nath Sanyal, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and Subhas Chandra Bose are still widely remembered. Their story is almost always presented as acts of individual heroism and not as part of a wider movement that had any overarching strategy or significant impact on the overall struggle for Independence. In reality, the revolutionaries were part of a large network that sustained armed resistance against the British Empire for half a century. They not only created a wide network inside India but also established nodes in Britain, France, Thailand, Germany, Persia, Russia, Italy, Ireland, the United States, Japan and Singapore. At various points, they received official support and recognition from the governments of some of these countries. Even the internal dynamics of the Indian National Congress of the time cannot be understood without the revolutionaries, who enjoyed widespread support within the organization. This was no small-scale movement of naive individual heroism but one that involved a large number of extraordinary young men and women who were connected in multiple ways to each other and to the evolving events of their times.
Revolutionaries tells their story, one that is replete with swashbuckling adventure, intrigue, espionage, incredible bravery, diabolical treachery and shockingly unpredictable twists of fate.

Ultimately, it's the fault of we ordinary Indians for not prioritizing true history higher that this real freedom struggle story was suppressed for 70 years.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose gave our freedom not by the real indirect war criminals Gandhi and Nehru in the WWII. The fact is published by Amazon worldwide since 18Sept2017 in English and by Notion press since 22June2022 in Bengali. Distorted history on independence must be fixed now. Truth reveals itself although late but than never. Jai Hind.

Unfortunately there is no enthusiasm at all in retelling of Itihas ( History ) . If we have a twelfth pass lady as HRD minister and the next one Javadekar says that we have changed even a comma is nothing short of being mortally afraid and apologetic . What can Indian Council of Historical Research do when the govt is lacking willpower. Don’t know how many people know that Saha Faisal an IAS from J&K resigned, floats a Political party , indulges in Anti India propaganda , arrested while fleeing to Turkey, reinstated and appointed as Deputy Cultural Secretary. These are slaps and kicks on the cheeks and backside of Indian people by their own govt . Jai Hind

Histories are not retold. It has to be written based on contemporary written diaries as evidence. It should be based on contemporary literatures written be more that two to three writers. If you start writing stories in isolations with out cross reference, you will find more that 300-400 versions of History. Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal's version should be published in historical journal with reference in the footnote. So that his peers in the field of History writing will scrutinize, debate and authenticate the narration of History. Only History of Odisha can be traced to Madala Panji of Puri Temple as well as British writers, and contemporary Odia writers. So from the writing such writings one ca conclude certain events to the point. Similarly, the historical events of Shivaji is written by his own people as well as the British invitees from the Bombay during his coronation. But the proceedings of each and every Congress conference as well as meeting with then British India Government is well documented. So there is ambiguity in anything.

The name Victoria should be replaced by the name of a worthy revolutionary like Jhansi Raanee. Under the name Victoria, monsters like General Dyer existed and were free to subject our ancestors to pain, horrible sufferings, and death . To the British, they were not human beings.
