Absolutely a brilliant video. I’ve just found the missing link in my swing. The transition is absolutely key to making a great ball strike. I’ve found that if you can square your hips and lag the club as long as possible, then downswing turning the torso with quite arms and the then driving the club through on a in to out plane with the triangle, transferring the weight to the left. I get it now. I call it a lagging action that you must get into your mind. It’s a no no to try and pull the club down with the arms. Get this rhythm/timing in the swing right and your about there. I’ve tried 4,7 and 9 on 2 door matts and the next step is to take it to the range. The other thing is making sure you swing in to out with the trail arm action close to the body and transfer the weight. Thanks Claude , I get it what Tommy Fleetwood does etc.

Great explanation of the best sequence. The mind takes over and throws the hands like a hammer and sword, but this will chop no birdies😊

GR8 analogy to shallow for speed. I like the rubber band 1 with xander too 99percent hit from the top aka steep.

chris, i enjoyed the video and info especially the image of the sticks and the horse race. do you have a video of how the pivot is actually performed and the mechanics of it. it seems everyone talks about the turn and pivot and that we should be doing it but there's not much about breaking it down on how to do it correctly. thnx.

Interesting video. When I'm out of position and need to hit over trees I hit down on the ball and usually hit it prue. My normal iron shots are fat as I hit about an inch behind the ball.

What is the best way to get the hips moving first in the downswing. A stop or long pause at the top or some other key.?
@Onemoreday16235 ай бұрын
Just think as you're getting to the top of your backswing that you mobe your lead hip back (moving your lead pocket behind you) Biggest mistake alot of people make is they move their trail hip back in the downswing and then move the trail hip again in the downswing This is WRONG if trails hip back (backswing) lead hip back (downswing) The left hip moves back to meet the right hip in the backswing Only thought you need is right hip back then left hip back

Boy Chris Como has a great swing I wonder why we have not seen him on the tour.I realise there is more to tour golf than a good swing.

His swing is nothing special and you have no idea how good Tour players are.

Downswing to impact is a maximum of 1 second (0.4 seconds for alot of tour pros) Beginners/high handicappers just standard once a week recreational players are never going to time all this correctly

Hmmmm, if the lower body unwinds first doesn’t this promote an over the top swing as arms get left behind and move outwards as hips unwind. For me, the feeling is arms first and get them down before the shoulders turn the corner. I guess it just depends on the individual but the whole move your lower body first feeling has really been detrimental to my swing for so many years (just saying as I don’t think there is a one size fits all type of swing) 😀 the static drill at the top of the backswing is one I use a lot as really helps to sync up arms and my body, no hiding bad timing with that drill!

Im sorry to say this but most likely there is something else happening in your swing that is causing that over the top move.

@@JT________________you should watch some of the Athletic Motion Golf videos, they talk about it a lot and have GEARS (motion sensors) which backs up a lot of their pros vs amateur analysis. The pro I’m having lessons with is saying the exact same thing to me, so much so I didn’t actually believe him when he was telling me to forget my hips and just think first movement down is with my arms. Horses for courses but the AMG gears analysis shows this to be a common fault in amateurs and has finally got me to fully believe what he has been telling me to do for months. Also very similar to what pete cowen teaches, get your arms moving correctly and your hips will move automatically

@@haricsl what you feel is most likely not what is really happening.

@@haricsl I'll say two things however. One, if that feel works for you, great. Two, the real sequence is actually really tough to measure or see. What I'd suggest you do is find a DTL, down the target line, view of a tour swing you really like. Then go to their P4 (top of the backswing) and start watching the swing from there slowly frame by frame. Pay attention to two things: the trail elbow and the lead hip. Pay attention to whether the lead hip starts moving away from the ball first OR the trail shoulder rotating externally (elbow starting to point more towards the ball). I'll 100% guarantee the hip starts moving first. Go and watch a YT video from Dana Dahlquist who is arguably the best swing coach on the bloody planet. Its titled something like "Arms passive or active?".

You can also put your IG account here for example and I'll send you a video of any tour swing you'd like to see. I have a bunch of them screen recorded on my phone already.

Wouldn't this entire analogy depend on the type of release a person uses? This idea of the horse race. Say for example Kenny Perry he definitely throws his arms out in a very different type of fashion. He would have the wrong horse winning the race according to this analogy yet he hits it super far and very straight. The issue I have with golf instruction is they try to put you in a box and say this is the way the swing works when in reality there is no box. Lee Trevino swing would be wrong according to Synology and he was a pretty good ball striker. Jack Nicklaus is Swing would be incorrect based on this analogy.

Moe Norman had an absolutely horrendous looking swing yet was the best ball striker on the planet

Good basic information here but I disagree with the Adam Scott reference- for me he doesn’t have that natural flow to his swing like say Rory or obviously Tiger - or the late great Seve His physiology to his swing looks so wooden- especially as he nears the end of his follow through- it’s as if he has been taught all of the so called correct “ positions “ one by one by one
