A couple things you missed. You can drag the mask directly from the effects browser to the viewer and it will automatically select objects in the viewer, like tracking. You can also add the magnetic mask directly in the color wheels or other effects where add magnetic mask is a new option. Very cool!

Is it possible to track the mask to the movement of a generated 3D background ?

It wouldn't be this tool for tracking and getting objects to follow. The tracker would do this though.
