Rinsing will take time, but doable with no line behind. Great work! Thanks for the innovation. Went with larger, 1000L. We have over 200 gal when full. Ordered blue, for fresh water, 100gal tank. Drop waste, pick up fresh on same trip.

Great video. Great idea but until you expand the choke point at that valve it won't matter how big of a hose is on the far end. I currently use a macerator to pump into a tote in the back of my truck. Looking to increase the capacity, likewise. Thinking of using a 55 gallon barrel with a properly installed gate valve to attach to the slinky hose. A couple of rinse fittings and a large bulkhead fitting for the fill. Light weight and cheap. It will hold our black tank with a bit of room from a grey to help rinse the system. Grey shower water can be used to flush the toilet and some other minor wash functions. The barrel would be primarily used for the black and the kitchen grey. I already have a potable water tank and a good 12 volt pump in order to retrieve fresh water when making the black dump trip.

@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
Pretty much the same as the camco hard tote. You never really get everything out. Just flush and dump until you feel it’s flat. Tighten cap. lol this is why you need to put it in a bin. For the water bladder we do a little bleach flush every now and again.
@calledtojourneyАй бұрын
Glad this works well for you. I tried using a highly rated macerator pump for our black tank, and it was SLOW, especially if the drain point for the hose was even a bit higher than the pump. It would take an hour to dump (not flush) our 39 gallon black tank.
@liketheresnotomorrowАй бұрын
Wow. That is slow. I think it might take 30 min or less for barry to drain ours into the tote. The pump we have is in our Amazon store. Seems to work well. We also don’t put paper in our toilets. So not sure if that helps.

I've been thinking about full time RV life, or even bus life. I have a lot of friends across the country, even around the world. im leaning towards renovating an RV or building a bus out though, because i am very much invested in VR at this point, which does require some space, but i have ideas for that. i dont really want to deal with a black tank though. my opinions may change with a macerator pump, but i am curious about how much improvements incinerating toilets have gotten, because im definitely not dealing with a composting toilet. im also wondering how well a residential, apartment sized range and oven will hold up to live on the road
@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
Good for you. Sounds like bus build is in your future. We don't know much about the incinerating toilets but we know many who boondock most of the time preach how much they love them. I also know some people that have put in residential appliances. They are bigger and heavier. Plus, if you want to operate on 12volt, you'll need to see what has to happen for that to work. If you are going off grid, you'll want to research your solar or energy needs. I bet there are a bunch of schoolie communities that will have all of this detailed. Good luck!

Hey there! Thanks for the info! We love your content and we just bought everything you recommended. One question: could you talk a little more about the connections, specifically the rubber fitting that goes between the exit valve and the bayonet connector? I can’t see cleaning out a bladder tank, with soft sides, as being easy and complete. A standard turd tank, with hard sides is far easier to get clean with rinse water at the dump station. I do like the general concept however. I use a bladder for fresh water fill when boondocking and that system works nice. It holds 45ish gallons and was sold at Camp World at one time. We have a travel trailer, and I actually have an RV holding tank that I use as a tote, and it is very light weight (much lighter than the tote tank), and I have attached gate valve to it. It sits in the bed of the truck and I can empty it very quickly with slinky. Still have to make multiple trips though. But again, if the macerator pump fails (which it has in the past), it's a problem. I can still use the macerator and carry the regular wheeled tote in the bed of the truck, but if the macerator fails, we can still pull the wheeled tote to the station.

Imagine a seam opening, even a small hole...there would be no stopping it. I use a bladder for fresh water but no way am I doing black or even gray (it stinks too). YOU ARE EXTREMELY BRAVE.
@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
It would be great for water if that’s more comfortable. They have much smaller ones as well. It’s way more thick and strong than the water bladder that most of us use.

We have that exact water bladder.🤣🤣🤣 That bladder is designed for frsh water.

I have a 30gal bladder for fresh water truck cap boondocking. (10+ fulltime RVing, now off grid stationary). Ive read people use those bladder rings to strap into truck bed then leaked. Black tanks gross. Why not line back of RV toilet bowl with Wal-Mart bag, after doing 2 business, tie it closed, drop in a 5 gal foot pedal trash can with bag in it. Dispose of in regular trash. 'Black' tank is liquid only now, only minimal water in it as no prevention of poo pyramid flushing necessary. My (2nd) 2018 RV has NEVER had poo in it and I live in it stationary!!!
@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
So glad you have a system that works for you but I would have to say that keeping poo in a bag would not be in most people’s comfort zone. I can smell those poo bags from my dog a mile away. But people keep baby diapers in a pail sometimes, so…. 😜💩 Ya just gotta do what you’re comfortable with.

All I can think about while I watch this video is... "This is gross... Thanks" :) You did a good job showing the solution, and talking around the less desirable concepts. I just can't help but think about the macerator pump pumping pulpy poop into a poop bladder. A VEVOR chinesium poop bladder. This is the most entertaining video I will watch tonight by far. and... we got a new tongue twister out of the deal... "pumps pumping pulpy poop" :)

You are doing it right. Do yourself a big favor, get a tarp that can completely cover your whole truck bed including the sides. Make sure the sides of the tarp are well secured to the top of the sides. Close the tailgate. What you are doing is protecting yourself should the blatter break. Also get a second one for fresh water. Place the second one on top of the first blatter. Fill the grey and black tanks into the black blatter. Go dump the black blatter. Now while you are out, filll the fresh water in the top fresh water blatter. The rest is easy. Don

Tarp is a great idea. Thanks Don👍👍👍

We tend to go at odd times or dump stations that aren’t crowded but it seems to take 20 min. We just added a mid that makes it a little faster now. We’ve waited behind people that too way longer than that with the traditional setup.

We didn’t show every single little detail. We plan on doing a follow up after we use it for a while. It’s working great…even with the bottle neck. We are able to empty it just fine. It may not be for some, but it working well for us.

I think composting toilets are the way to go. Can't imagine hauling blackwater in my camper.
@betterwithrum2 ай бұрын
I applaud the engineering and solution, but I don't think our family can boondock that much.
@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
It’s certainly not for everyone.
@headdown12 ай бұрын
Have you considered a compost toilet for boondocking? I've been full timing for 7 years and boondock 100% of the time. I have an Airhead compost toilet and I change the "solids" media (coco coir) about once a month. Simply invert the tank into a garbage bag and legally take it to the dump. Pee tank is two gallons and it is discreetly dumped in the desert when needed maybe once a week. This would not work so well though if you spend a lot of time at RV parks, as you would have to dump the pee tank often.
@liketheresnotomorrow2 ай бұрын
We spend about half the year boondocking. I think if we did more we’d consider it.
@headdown12 ай бұрын
@@liketheresnotomorrow I guess it would depend on if that 6 months is all at once. And, how much of a limiting factor emptying the black tank is compared to batteries, fresh water, etc. I built my own cargo trailer to RV conversion and have a ton of solar and batteries. On demand propane water heater. There is a 100 gallon fresh water tank in the bed of the Ram that connects with a short hose to a water inlet in the V nose of the trailer. Full sized 120 volt home fridge with ice maker. Combined with the compost toilet, I can go up to a month without needing to resupply. I usually only do two weeks in one spot though, and have an abundance of water for long hot showers.
