I had a 58 Edsel Ranger 2 door with a v8 and a 58 Edsel 2 door wagon years ago. Last year I sold a great running 59 Edsel 2 door Pacer with that six cylinder. Then I bought a 59 Edsel 4 door wagon with the 361v8. Got it running this summer. All of the old Ford rigs have that style starter and they all get their door latching internals gummed up so the don’t work. Gotta remove the door panels to get at it to clean and lube up. Good luck with that. I’ve got a 58 Ford retractable hard top and a 58 Ford wagon plus 11 Thunderbirds, 1956~2003. Come on up here to Alaska and buy em!

Edsels were made for 3 years 58, 59, 60, and were built on the Ford assembly line right along side the Ford cars which shared the same bodies as the Edsels which had different front clips and tail ends and trim and engines. This caused the guys working on the assembly line to outright hate the Edsels and many Edsels were sabotaged by the ones putting them together. Edsel was Henry Fords only son. Edsel named his son Henry Ford II and this was who wanted the car to be named Edsel in honor of his father who was a truly amazing car designer

A block design they came up with for the Edsel. Later became famous as the 352 and later, much more famous as the 390. That 6 was likely the exact same engine my dad had in his Ford wagon.

Smash, no more car and no more cows. My grandmother hit a cow once with her car. And once she some how jumped the ditch and ended up in a cow field. Someone with her asked her 'how are we going to get back on the road' and she said 'same way we go into the field'. She floored that car and rejumped the ditch and landed back in the road. This grandmother was a real character - she drove for years with no license, but the local judge finally made her get one. Oh and this was all in North Carolina, where the ditches along the roads are like 1 to 2 feet wide and like 2 feet deep.

Things get squirrely. 14:55 The only thing you had to do is put the car in park and back your truck up. The dolly would have rolled right under the car with tires in place on dolly. The same way getting it off. Put the car in park, loosen straps and take your truck and pull dolly a way from under car.

A lot of times you can take a standard shift car that has not ran in a very long time and you can pull it with the transmission in gear for several miles. A couple tips for ya. Put a pipe over the come-along handle & it will be much easier to winch up. Also I piece of foam 1 inch pipe insulation wrapped over the cable to dampen it incase in snaps. I also use a large 3 claw puller to get stuck rusty brake drums off. Remove all the shoes & reinstall the drum. Rolls easily then.
