Quite possibly the best overview of these D20 amps and by extension the REVV small amplifiers in general. Obviously major kudos to your playing. You’ve managed to out-shred the shredders and show off this amp’s full range of capabilities all while playing mostly clean 👍🏻 🤣 I’m an older player that loves tubes, but has a split personality when it comes to playing preferences! I’ll go through jazzy stages, classic rock & blues stages, but I’ll also have the occasional metal flourish as well and the REVV line of small amps just seem to do it all with great build and a genuine understanding of what actual players want and need. - Tube interaction, check - 20w to 4w, check - Endless possibilities, check I’ve basically gone for a left turn and moved away from the traditional Marshalls and Fenders to REVV and it has IMO been a great decision. I won’t even go into the current qc issues that these other companies seem to be okay with these days and the ever increasing “new normal” pricing… Just pick up a G20/D20 and be done.

How funny is that, I found this page looking for what this amp can do but stayed for your fantastic playing! Very good and tasteful..the Sinatra Classic so good

Very useful video. I am considering D20 or G20. It just seems these amps are a good Swiss Army knife for guitarists that play live and do home recordings. Also, I really enjoyed your playing and compositions.

Excellent demo and discussion. Very useful. I have G20 which has a few differences. Very pleased with the tones it produces. I use a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller to select various Two Notes pre-programmed options. It works well. Takes a while to get your head wrapped around all the options, in my case anyway.

Damn, you don't look like a "guitar hero" but you play like one. Thanks for sharing. Great review.

Thanks for this video. I am looking at a new amp and these look amazing. Nice to have a video that doesnt have someone screaming or just playing super saturated

Andy, you are a fantastic guitar player, you are obviously a professional and one of the best I have heard! Your band sounds great too! You have convinced me to buy the amp. I play in church and need a lightweight solution to use with my Strymon delay and reverb pedals (worship music uses a lot of ambiences. We have no stage volume, other than drums). Everything is direct to front of house. I have tried the Strymon Iridium and Walrus Audio ACS1 pedals, but I didn't love them. I also use a Kemper Stage, but I like to switch between that and my pedalboard. If you are interested in teaching guitar, please let me know.

Great jazz twiddling Andy! We prefer the more uptempo stuff (wink wink ) Wow you scream on Blues stuff! from new fans in L.A. Former jam nighters 2013-2019. About 300 jam nights. Cheers from Del Rey. Happy Summer!

hi Andy, I was in between this and MT15. I got MT15 + Torpedo for recording and power soak + Sheriff V4 as preamp - for dad rock tones :). Almost same price in total. I like MT15 cleans and dark progressive metal tone. Only advantage for me; Metal and dad rock tones all tube without emulation. Disadvantage: Too much cables and stuff to carry.
@AndyWattGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great little rig, Serkan! The Victory preamps look cool, I had wondered about running something like that into the fx loop of the Revv.

Hey Andy, this is amazing info. How quiet is the xlr out -> wall of sound workflow? I had a captor 8 before and the xlr out was really noisy and had lots of static hiss and hum. Is this quieter? Ta
@AndyWattGuitar Жыл бұрын
Yeah there's very little noise for me - I rarely use a gate or anything (though I guess I'm generally on low to medium gain settings) 👍🏻

Thats the best sounding demo of this amp i have ever heard. I tried the amp in the store before and it wasnt the right one for me. I am surprised your not using true single coils tho for you style.

Cheers! I do love a Strat, but the Charvel covers all the bases for me at the moment 😃🎸👍🏻

Andy great video and playing. My fender twin is becoming too heavy to transport for me. We mic our amps most of the time but Sometimes not. I found a Revv for sale locally and I have a 2x12 with Celestion blues that I can use. I only use a reverb, phase , OD, and wah pedal with my twin. $800 should I jump on it?

Great review Andy. After watching your video I decided to purchase one of these. I noticed a slight hum when my one is powered on (sounds like transformer hum). Is this normal for these amps or is your one completely silent?
@AndyWattGuitar9 ай бұрын
Mine's not totally silent, but reasonably quiet for a tube amp. It'd be worth asking in the Revv community facebook group - the whole Revv team are on there and very helpful (you could maybe post an audio clip of it?) 👍🏻
@johnoneill28489 ай бұрын
@@AndyWattGuitar Thanks Andy. I don't use facebook anymore but appreciate your reply. Would you say the transformer hum is audible from 10 feet away in a silent room when powering on (not playing)?

Hi, I use a blues junior all the time and love it, but when I gig I need to put a mic on it. Can I get a good fender tone with the D20 if I take a 1x12 real cab? And can I at the same time send it Direct to the PA?
@Naminorite Жыл бұрын
I am looking for an amp for at home usage (Don't play in a band or live, have a pedal board, so pedal friendly home use amp is what I am looking for). Considering, the following so far - Supro Amulet or Fender Princeton Reverb (65 / 68) or Vox (AC15 / AC10). The Supro has the attenuator which seems like a possible good idea for at home use but some players don't like an attenuator. I've heard good things about the REVV so thought it might need to be put in the final options?
@SuperOhdannyboy Жыл бұрын
If you are playing at home the vox is going to be too loud. The fender will rattle the dishes in the kitchen way to powerful. An attenuator is your best bet. At my home I can not even have my fender champ 15 watt up higher than 5 . I put an anttenuator on my older fender super champ because I have a line out between the amp and speaker. Cheers good luck

GREAT vid. I am looking for a Practice amp. Seriously considering the REVV 20. Are you still a fan. And Can I use it stand alone? Or will I need to run it thru a cab ? thoughts suggestions ideas ? option B is getting the Bias FX/ipad combo and going modular.
@AndyWattGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You’ll need a cab if you want to use it as a normal amp, but can run on its own if using headphones or recording direct. Also bear in mind you need to use fx pedals with it to get the best out of it 👍
@mr.d.572 Жыл бұрын
There now a Revv D25 combo amp too.
@perrar1na Жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks for the demo How does it takes distortion? Does it has bass frequency problems “fart” like blues junior or hot rod deluxe? Or its like a bigger amp with lots of headroom and no flubby bass response?
@Rehmoss Жыл бұрын
Incredibly naive question here, but what kind of speaker should you use if you're using the virtual cabs?
@AndyWattGuitar Жыл бұрын
You can run it through studio monitors at home, or use an FRFR speaker (or a PA speaker) 👍🏻
@accentontheoff Жыл бұрын
Unrelated, so, apologies in advance but do you still consider the Mooer GE200 a good option for the home recordist. Thanks.
@AndyWattGuitar Жыл бұрын
I still use mine for online teaching. It’s an impressive bit of kit for the money, not quite the same as a Revv amp or a Helix but a great budget option amp modeller 👍
@accentontheoff Жыл бұрын
@@AndyWattGuitar Great, thanks. Btw is the GE 250 worth the price difference, in your opinion. That’s my last question I promise. 🙂
@headchange4u Жыл бұрын
What cab are you using?
@AndyWattGuitar Жыл бұрын
It's a bit of a DIY cab - bought the cabinet frame on ebay and loaded it with a WGS ET90 speaker (which Revv were using in their 1x12 cabs for a while). Works well!

Do you have a single coil axe? If not, do you ever feel you need one in your stable?
@AndyWattGuitar2 жыл бұрын
The Charvel Tele is my main guitar and it’s Fluence pickups have (to my ears) a super convincing single coil mode so I tend to use that for most jobs! I do have a couple of others including a Danelectro with lipstick SC and a Strat-style Godin but they don’t get played much at the moment.
@denmar3552 жыл бұрын
The Fluence pickups are amazing. I have two different sets and love them. T style and P90.
