How to Do a Motorcycle Track Day
www.revzilla.com/august-redli...
Whether you are a seasoned rider, or a fresh-to-the-track newbie, taking your motorcycle to a track day event is no small undertaking, or investment. With limited time on the race track and a lot to take into consideration, preparing for your trip is going to be as important as the skills you showcase through the turns themselves. Spurgeon, Alessandra, and Lance (the Managing Editor of Common Tread) team up to provide you a look at a list of things to do in order to make the most out of your time in the saddle.

First heard it when I was learning how to snowboard in 2nd or 3rd grade, and I've used that phrase ever since. Second, and last time I heard it was when I was racing Formula cars when I was 21ish.

A cruiser rider put onto a sport bike she's never really ridden then pushed out onto a track in front of everybody there and 10 cameras for the whole of KZbin to see. I'd be worried too haha!

This is the best and most complete "first track day" video I've seen. This is exactly how it happens, and people really are super friendly at the track. My first track day I was nervous about tech inspection and that all the riders would be intimidating, but there is a huge mix of riders and everyone bands together quickly, espcially if its your first time.

Really great content and editing! I think this was the best first track day video I have watched. It was helpful to see the whole process, from gear selection and loading the bikes all the way through to loading up to head home, and it was also great to see the day from the perspective of two riders and different levels of experience. Revzilla's videos have really been moving up the ladder of story telling. Good stuff!

Excellent video for all track riders, very accurate and detailed. For slower riders remember it’s your day to enjoy yourself, don’t worry to much about faster riders as long as you’re have fun that’s the main thing. I still remember my first track day, my local track is Phillip island Australia and it was an absolute honour to ride on an international circuit.

Was so cool watching this video at a track I've been to several times already lol! I love NJMP! But I just want to thank Spurg, Alessandra and Lance for this video! I now have a GREAT video to share with my buddies who CONSTANTLY ask me about the track! A lot of great material covered in this video! Watching me and my friends go through our first days was definitely an intimidating experience at first, but once you go through it, it very quickly becomes one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences in your riding career! Not only does it improve your riding by 300% but once you live it, you realize that the track is not necessarily the intimidating competitive atmosphere you initially thought it to be; but a playground for you to really learn and improve and become a better rider. Once you start to focus on yourself and not the other riders, you quickly start to see yourself improve more more, that when you implement these same techniques in the street, you'll be AMAZED at how much faster or safer you can choose to be. You can learn so much more at 1 track day, than what you would learn riding 8 years at your local twisties. Trust and believe that. Thank you Revzilla for sharing this with the motorcycle community! I'm sure many people will find great use of this video 🙏. I hope I get to see you guys at NJMP one day! 💪

Dope video! Really makes me want to go out and attend a trackday! Hadn't ridden anything 2-wheel motorized since my moped days and back then I had a few scares. But... being a fan of the MotoGP, it always remained a bucketlist thing to go out and ride! This year I started things easy with the baby Gixxer, the Suzuki GSX-R125. Am slowly building my confidence. Next year? Probably upgrading to a Triumph Daytona 675R! Bring it on!

Great video Revzilla- as always! And @Alessandra- though I have been riding for 16 years, this year, like you, I also did my first track day with Evolve at NJMP and my experience was more or less the same as yours! It definitely is an investment (time or money) to keep going back as I am more of the adventure, travel parts unknown kind of guy- but I will surely go back if I get a great deal as I got with Evolve GT.

Thumbs up for helping folks take it to the track instead of the street. In my youth, I did some really stupid street riding and thought I was joe cool. Once I started racing, I found out that absolutely anything I could do on the street didn't hold a candle to the track. I credit the track with saving me from serious injury or death. Well worth the investment multiple times over.

Great vid. Track days have changed quite a bit since I did my last one 20 years ago. Back then you nominated a speed and tried to keep up with faster guys while copying what they were doing, eventually copying the guys that raced. No such thing as lessons, which led to a lot of accidents. Glad things have changed to a much safer and inclusive day out for all levels of riders.

Gotta absolutely agree how track riding techniques help with riding on the street. I used to look at my cockpit oh so often to check speed/gear but after track day I realized the importance of "look where you want to go". I already was sort of practicing this but it was at the track it help me reinforce how important that is for safety and the general riding.

If you safety wire your bike be prepared to fix it or to eat the drop in value when you plan to sell. If I am buying a bike, you can say "track day" all you want but I see a bike that has been raced. BTW track days are the best skill enhancement you can do with your bike. You get the chance to push your bike to the limit without worrying about running off a cliff or smacking a semi.

Cool video, I did my first track day two months ago and do my second one in September. It was a lot of fun but I rented the motorcycle and it takes away A LOT of the prep. My only complaint about track days are the expenses. This is not for the cheap or for those who are struggling financially. I am bringing my own bike and the prices are going through the roof. If you don't have a truck, get ready to rent one. You don't want to go on crap tires, so new tires. I plan on going every 4 months or so. Can't wait to get a truck :(
