For what it's worth...brother and sister riders on a budget like myself can't go wrong with Shinko Ravens good mileage with the added bonus (I think) of being a very solid and confident tire in the wet...huge help, plus kind of a cool looking tread pattern (again for me) thanks everyone be safe!

Looking to replace my rear now 190/50/17 on my 08 1000rr. got me about 3.3k miles. The grip was pretty damn good for the price point. Won't buy another raven because I need something for more straight-line miles. The bike is now my commuter. I would overall agree with Michael, IF you typically just take it out on the weekends for some backroads and the occasional longer commute. I commute 68 miles round trip for work 3+ times a week with about 3/4 of that being in a lean of no more than 5° your mileage may vary (pun intended)

Facts on the Rs10 lifespan. My rear has only lasted about 1500 miles but the front will probably last a few hundred more. Regardless, both will get swapped at the same time. The Pirellis that came on my Rsv4 lasted about 2000 miles and are just as sticky. Just wish the 200 series tires weren't so expensive.
@treavorgraham51732 жыл бұрын
Honestly I was recommended the rs10 by a parts guy that was spot on. Tire life is not great. I rode in and around NYC for a year nothing hard. Moved to South Carolina and I commute on mostly straight highway with only a few curves. The middle of the tire is become flat and the corners rounded as I reach upwards of 150+ on the straights and turns 100+. Love the confidence it gives, not sure of I will go with it in the future though. But honestly better than Michelin and Dunlop too me

I went from S21,s to the RS,s and find the RS good. A bit slower steering but stable at lean like S21,s. RS take a bit longer to warm up tho. I got 8,000kms out of rear S21. Have to see how long the RS last. Both good tires but Super Corsa is the best for grip if you don't care about mileage/kilometrage.
@iTxip6 жыл бұрын
The most i can get of the S21 rear seems to be about 4000-5000km. Good rear but not the best, pirelli and metz rears are more grippy, but it has the best front in that class super confidence inspiring and very grippy hats why im on the 4th set of S21, i can handle some rear slipping because its very progressive in the S21 and if I fail theres TC as a safety net, front tire on the other hand is so much harder to recover from that. How is the michelin RS compare in terms of front/rear grip & feedback to the S21?? how about wet performance?? I had a couple of michelin PP3 sets in the past and while being a good tire its not as grippy and predictable as the S21, better mileage tho
@wradford16 жыл бұрын
iTxip I'm not that impressed with the Michelin RS tyres and will be going back to S21 next time. The RS front tyre is not bad and I've ha no issues. But the back tyre squirms around and has let go a lot more than the S21 rear. The wear on the RS is not as good either. I will probably get around 5000 km's out of the rear RS and my vtwin Tuono is only about 140 hp at the crank, and i dont commute, do long straight country k's, burnouts or accelerate that hard from lights or on straights. I try and stay on the twisties and mainly accelerate hard when in and exiting corners . I think if the RS's were used for commuting or hard acceleration on a high hp bike you would be lucky to get 3000 k's out of the rear. I might try the softer Bridgestone rs10 on the front for better grip and an S21 on the back for better mileage next time.
@iTxip6 жыл бұрын
Seems like after this set of S21 i will get them again for my v4 factory, the only tire i lked better so far was the supercorsa but mileage is just too low (1800km both tires toasted)

Where is the metzeler racetec k3 RR?
@TurtleGP7 жыл бұрын
Metzler is the sister company to Pirelli, the racetec rr is very very similar to the supercorsa, both re agressive superbike tires for track and fast street cornering. The racetec is said to just have a slightly stiffer side wall so it is more stable but less forgiving.

i would like to see a comparison of track tyres. dunlop d212 gp racer or d212 Bridgestone R10 or R11 Pirelli supercorsa SC Continental race attack Metzeler raceteckRR MIchelen PowercupEVO i've used all of them but the metzeler and the michelen's on the street. not taking into consideration mileage i would say i am a big fan of pirellis but they are super expensive (excellent feedback , more grip than i can really use, really really agressive) then it's the r10 super aggresive, i would like it to heat up faster and not loose heat if you go less aggresive for a while. excellent feedback continental, maybe the best grip of them all but in his middle life, looses consistency and the performance drops. dunlop's are really sticky, they like less air than the above, carcase is relly hard, not much agressive, but a really easy tyre to ride. it forgives a lot of mistakes fro mthe rider.

Just keep in mind, manufacturer tires may not have the exact same compound, because often they come with cheaper "b grade" tires from their partner. So you may have the right Dunlop tire, but it may not be as well preforming as if you bought a fresh "top grade" version of the same exact tire.

Matty Cakes You'll be fine - the recall only affects 5-7 tires and Dunlop contacted the owners in June. I doubt a recall so minute would have any bearing on whether or not they'd be included in a comparison like this. But, the improvements in q3+ are also seen in tread life, so it's a tire to keep in mind if you favour longevity. Overall, professional reviewers elsewhere have a lot of great things to say about them with respect to grip, too.

Hi, I have ann FZ700 (2016) that was sold to me with the basic Pirelli Diablo. The other day (dry road) , as I leaned in a street corner, I felt the rear tire slide little making me think the corner grip was pretty bad on these. Temp. was about 60/65 and tires were cold but still, I was surprised as in my younger years coming from a Kawasaki 750 Turbo, I used to lean very agressively with no concern. One thing I remember, though is that the tire rubber I had on these was very soft compared to the ones sold with my FZ. , the very basic Diablo tires. I believe the fantastic grip was due to the gripping soft rubber and I'd like to find tires that can bring the same secure feel, disregarding of how long they'll last. Any insight ?.. And would anyone know what is best for corner grip and tire air pressure ? Is it grippier when tires are little over inflated or underinflated ?

The Rosso III and M7 RR Tires offer very similar grip and longevity, though the Pirellis offer a bit more dry grip, while the Metzelers provide a bit more wet and cold weather grip. I'm currently running RS10's on my '01 GSXR 750. Since it's my only bike for both road and track, it felt like a good compromise. I'm now getting to the point that on track they are letting me down, with all the guys around me on track tyres with warmers, whereas on the street 9/10 times I'm not riding the bike hard enough for them to get enough temperature. With that little thread they're also very tricky should I get caught in some rainfall. Therefore looking at the R10 for track (with warmers) and S21 for the road. Does this make sense? I'm wondering whether the R10's will give me any significant advantage on track over the RS10's. Also open for other brands, but that makes it all just more complicated and besides, both R10 and S21 seem reasonably priced.
@rs232killer7 жыл бұрын
What you are saying makes perfect sense. Good choices. The R10 is, I think, better on the track if you use warmers and know how to monitor and adjust your tire pressure throughout the day. If you do that, the R10 will let you push a little harder than the RS10.

Hello, I have a 2018 Triumph Speed Triple RS which came fitted with Pirelli Supercorsas. As we all know they are amazing on hot, dry days, but are useless in the wet. I have a question! I am going on a 1600 mile tour around Scotland in July. The route will involve a lot of motorway/highway riding simply to get there, and the weather can go from hot and dry to torrential rain in a matter of hours. Obviously the Supercorsas are a bad idea. I ran M7RR’s on my KTM SDR but I love Pirellis. I am stuck between the Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 and the Diablo Rosso 3 to replace the Supercorsas with, as I want better mileage (even if it’s just another 1000!) and wet grip, but don’t want to lose too much ability to have fun in the twisties when it’s hot...can I have some advice please???
