i spent two weeks in Alaska with these straps. the biggest strap, the 1.5 inch strap was NOT sturdy enough to handle the loads you'd be using for extended touring. they really need to beef them up. i think a minimum of 2inches in necessary for serious off-road, heavy hauling.

I bought these on suggestions from campers and found that it is very hard (at least for me) to get them tight and secure. I really still prefer a ratchet strap.

I love my Rok straps! I have 3 sizes-there a small commuter size not shown here-- and use them on my motorcycle: to tie down chaps when the weather heats up, luggage on my back seat, or purchases anywhere. SO handy, they work for a multitude of packages, coolers etc. I don't think I'd take these on an expedition or for hard-core camping but these work for my long distance MC trips really well!

Won't the webbing abrade finishes? And you said how they attach to the anchor point but are the straps two piece or three piece? For example if it's two piece(one with the female buckle and one with the male buckle will I have to deal with one long strap when not in use? Or is it three pieces where the two anchors have female buckles and the third piece is adjustable has a male buckle on each end?

+luvmonkey666 Yes, it's possible the webbing could abrade finishes, so be careful how you run them. Also, the straps are in two pieces. The short side has the female buckle, and other side has the long length of webbing that threads through the male buckle. So yes, you do need to gather any extra webbing. -DrewZilla

He's full of crap! He only showed how to wrap the elastic side down. The smaller straps are not the simple. Sorry...he didn't sale me with all the small fast talk

Both straps are put on the same way. Put the load on, wrap the long side over the load and snap it into the short side. Then just cinch it tight.

Your wrong, both ends attach the same way.
