This is the show I judge all other live-action "kids shows" by. It was weird, but not random for randomness' sake. Despite the strangeness, all the characters were very relatable. Big Pete was a fairly typical teenager but never felt dull or flat as a character. He was very easy to identify with because of his realness, but still had his own distinct struggles, particularly with Endless Mike's bullying, Teddy's annoying habits, and his complicated relationship with Ellen. Little Pete was more cartoonish, but the great thing about it is his youth actually makes the entire thing work. He's an over-the-top character but because he's a little kid, it actually serves to make his plotlines seem more epic when taken from the perspective of a child. Little Pete didn't just deal with bullies, he dealt with supervillains. Adults weren't just adults, they were members of the International Adult Conspiracy designed to keep kids from having fun. The best part of this show was that it never treated its viewers like dumb kids. It's a very Pixar-like mindset, where they treat their young demographic as they would treat adults, while also making adults feel like kids again. Probably one of the best shows I've ever watched. Still smiling strange and happily deranged, even today.
@agyagasztal4 жыл бұрын
It was the best kids' show because it was only absurdist for adults. It's surrealism is pretty much how children view the world. As a kids the world works according to very strange rules, most of which we, as kids, make up as we go, and I think this show just nailed this aspect of childhood. (Rugrats sorta does something similar but for some unknown reason PnP resonates more.)
@disappearintothesea3 жыл бұрын
Love it! And I see you added the theme song in there.

“Best part of the show was they didn’t test their audience like dumb kids” PERFECTLY well said. The problem with kids shows nowadays is that they do exactly that, which makes them unwatchable and forgettable. I loved that Nick, in the 90’a no less, understood this concept and trusted kids to be smarter than originally thought, because kids generally are, if you don’t treat them like idiots.

aw man, ok, nice to see , but THERE'S SO MUCH MORE!!! If anyone is interested, they've done reunions throughout the years with more cast members, and a few years back the book SLIMED! was an awesome look at the start up of Nickelodeon as we loved and remember it, what a good read! Also Toby Huss (Artie) has done more than you realize, ol two eyes on mtv bumpers, the WIZ on Seinfeld, and voiced Cotton and Kahn on King of the Hill. The magic of the 90s is unreal. Being a kid during this time.. before internet took over.. but technological enough to provide plenty of entertainment without ruining the critical face to face value of social interactions....honestly... I don't think humanity will ever be able to replicate this 10 year period of time.. and it's tragic to me. I could only wish my children have something close to this experience.
