Its true there was a brief period in the 90s, that was so powerful, and like you say surreal. I`m not sure everyone who lived throw it fully realised, for me it was late 1992 to 1996 so 4 years ish. Before internet was big, and mobile phone, despite problems as a child there was always some magic, and beauty in day to day life form the simple things and TV was so varied.

How could such a short period of time house such colossal memories? It was the music, the shows, the video games, the general carefree ambiance of it all. Being able to ride a bike throughout the entire neighborhood without worry. Some of the best times ever.

Almost made me tear up! I had the full ride of the 90’s and remember this show being one of the highlights of my life at that time. I think the thing about the 90’s was that there was an emphasis on being creative and innovative. Now it seems like being fake is the new cool. With that, everything wasn’t pressed out so quick to the point of being oversaturated.

yea, this is a great example of 90s alternaculture; could never exist today. A lot of stars had to align but i think a big factor during this time was that most of what we saw was made from recently graduated college kids who were just given a camera, or a music studio or whatever. A high level of "quirk" resulted, an almost freewheeling nature to most of what came out during this time. Corporate committees rule the day now and even when they try, the "quirk" seems manufactured , like they are intentionally paying homage to this era.
@mattlawson714
@mattlawson714 6 жыл бұрын
Epic response. There was clearly a higher level of creativity back in those days. Glad I got to grow up with this. The metal plate, the tattoo, Artie... that kind of humor first showed up on 90's Nick. You could also find it in "adult" programming like Adult Swim Spaceghost. In some strange way, kinda reminds me of Tim and Eric.

This was such a clever and well written show for kids. It had its gross moments, but it wasn't wall to wall fart jokes, vomit, and people getting kicked in the balls. The plots were really interesting and quirky, and the humor came from good writing instead of cheap gimmicks. Kids need more shows like this one, Hey Arnold, Salute Your Shorts and Alex Mack. But the theme song always got stuck in my head despite never really being into that sorta music growing up. Hearing it now makes me wanna cry just outta pure nostalgia. It's crazy. And seeing this show now as an adult, I've realized it's fucking incredible and I should've watched it more often in the 90s along with my usual Nick stuff I enjoyed! I love that all of the '90s kids can commiserate here about how bittersweet it is to remember being a child. Seeing this video is one of the few things that reminds me of what it was like being a kid on Saturdays, making a bowl of popcorn, getting ready for SNICK. Oh, to be able to go back to that time for just a day. You never appreciate childhood until it's gone.

Everyone's chiming in about turning 30 and I'm in the same boat. Something about hitting 30 and seeing how much life has changed and will continue to change freaks me out. People say that you should live in the present, because the past is the past and the future's the future, but it's hard to not feel anxious of what's to come. Even without the pandemic or political issues, I'd still feel nervous about getting older. It's a reminder of everything that I haven't been able to accomplish and how I'm slowly growing apart from the idea that I was once part of a generation where anything and everything was possible. Getting older, you slowly realize that's not true at all, and you're left wondering if this feeling will continue on for as long as you're alive. I remember watching this show back in the 90s, but I was too little to really appreciate it. Over the years I've grown to appreciate the intro's music, and I guess it just leaves me feeling nostalgic.
