For those who want to know the best build for the reworked iron reapers, it's the topline and the rest in the bottom. This gives you 1373 piercing armor (with 80 def doctrines, and up to 1398 with the 105 purple doctrines), and it boosts your slashing damage in blade mode. The middle line has multiple dysfunctional nodes (the discord has all the details, mainly the multi-hit, and the first stun node). Since the blunt damage is no longer the priority, either full up for the damage and armor or going down for the easier retreat and supply cost decrease is now preferred. This is just some advice if you were wondering how you should spec them. *Note: The sword test was done with top max+bottom line

Nope tested it in detail, without the multiple hit, the sword can hit up to 6 units even without the 2 skill. On top of that, we found the attack speed to be worth nothing at all. So either full top Then bottom or a mix of all three is best. Join the discord if you want to know the details

Yeah, it can get annoying real fast. I prefer lowering in game sounds and listening to music while playing so you can try that too. Use to be a problem where you can't hear horse hoove sounds but this season it's much less of a problem

Mid tree till extra hit with rest in bottom or top, use flail on your charge in to knock them down, immediately click 5 to then 2 to animation-cancel-swap to them Tiger Stepping in Sword mode. It lets them start slicing the modao and other CC-vulnerable enemies before they get back up, knocking units back with the Tiger Step mini-charges as well.

I personally use mid to first stun node, bottom to heal node, then rest on top for maximum defense. The best vet should be full top and rest in bottom if you don't worry about sword stuns on heroes. The middle line is not that good considering how the extra hit happens 1/2 hits and it's unlikely that they'll be even able to hit 6 targets, and for this buff they go over some really bad nodes unlike the top.

I wish there was a Commander Challenge, where you can 1v1 against another Player, with Units. Like a Duel, only with Units. Maybe we have to go to the Arena, and have it randomly matched up, IDK. Maybe it should be a Scheduled thing in between Territory Wars, but I'd like to do these matchups more easily. Mowdowns would work well in a contest between a random Player, and whatever units they brought.

I'll be down to a 5v5 deathmatch, each player has multiple units but if the commander dies they're out for the entire match. This would work better due to how units work in the game, 1v1 depends on the unit and the hero stun skill while 5v5 we can see more combos and player skill in action.

@@AlanApogee 5v5 would take a lot more to organize, since we're talking about 10 rando players. That's basically a field Battle. This, what you're doing in this video lets you test out "Who would win in a fight?" Okay, now what about if I do this...? Exactly what you're doing in this video, only as a game-mode.

He didn't use Tiger's on the mace... That skill is huge for reapers now. Also X V does nothing for reapers now.

So are the blade reapers stonger than flail now? The flail veterency path grants 2 hits per attack. Does that apply on the sword attacks too? If not the middle path isnt worth anything anymore

The buffed blades can hit up to 5-6 without the +1 to attack node, and when you use the 2 skill they are immune to all cc. This is why they are so strong right now in blade. But when facing enemies with a shield, the block bypass using flail is going to be better, but at the cost of weaker AI, aggression, and attack speed. The best vet route is full top then bottom for unit damage. The midline's 1st stun node gives the blade a chance to stun heroes on their basic attack so I went for the mid to stun, bottom to heal, then top for an all-rounder.

Reapers are better with sword vs non shiled, and with flails vs shield units, simple as that, they are still not awesome, but thye have their uses, i dont see any reason to play them instead modaos ever

Why would u skill reapers in lowest branch further then the heal and put the rest into middle? makes no sense

This was one of the build before the rework, it aims to charge in with the flail and come back out alive. The bottom line gives you 30% damage reduction when retreating (reduction when hit in the back) so that was why this was his build. But that is the old build, the new build is topline full and rest bottom. The middle tree has multiple broken nodes so it's not worth it anymore.

@@AlanApogee sounds like a strange military doctrine to send un shocktroops to retreat them. shocktroops are there to build up bridgepoints. as such it was way more effective building them complet in middle and lower tree only up to the self heal

Iron reapers with sword win easily, they have stun immunity So the siladhards can't do much of anything against them

You could, but going in with flail and switching to swords with the second skill right after is much better. The skill 2 skips the weapon switching animation but they could get stunned in the process so it really depends on your preference

Specifically against MoDao, yes. The Flail is still better against shielded units and when using the charge, but otherwise, the sword is better with the new skill 2.

ehm, thats totaly wrong play by the modao in every of the clips... You go 3>2>2>2>2 without ever using your 1.... Thats vs cav only.

Not true, going 2 -2 will result in your unit losing the 35% damage reduction half the time. And also the 1 skill does roughly 3 times the damage compared to skill 2. Therefore going 2 to reposition/ stack then going 1 for the main source of damage is the best way to play. Personally, I do not enter with skill 3 because that is when your unit is at its weakest (only up to 15% damage reduction compared to skill 1 and 2's 35%), I use it when the enemy is extremely stacked and spent their offensive skills. If you say otherwise you can join the discord and show some evidence, we are doing 1v1 this weekend to test the units so we can confirm your idea if you insist.

Did the test, 212121 won with 2/3 remaining against 222222. So not using 1 in a fight is not optimal.

Ur modaos are not maxed and the doctrines are better for the iron reapers. Modaos 100% are better in a 1v1 against ir. Ir also clap greyhairs so I don’t know how you managed that

So here's an update, they win in sword mode because they become immune to stuns. The flail isn't the best way to play now
