Excellent video on the pitfalls of writing a history of India and what the state should not do. A group of like minded scholars could come together to attempt a project of this kind, which would be free from the taint of state interference.

I remember the HOD of the department of religion of Columbia U, telling me that, of course, not all religions are true. And my professor was in favor of inculturation as a means of conversion. And this was a professor of Hinduism who had such contempt for Hinduism and wanted Hindus to be converted to her religion--catholicism.

Khushvant Singh had written Sikhon ka itihas in two volumes. Many names of reference books are also written in the last pages Bhairappa from Karnataka has written a book ( novel ) named Awaran"". May be NCERT books are written in that narrative. When I did my schooling in 1970s in Telugu medium the history books wee more or less OK. One has to study alternative non governmental books as well when grown up to read different perspectives.

The History text books were painted Green then Red. Now should be put on a journey towards safron, the original colour of Bharat Barsh. In the sojourn may a synthesis happen and the true colour of History may cone out.....

The organisers and participants of this Fest are professionals with dual or multiple commitments, but sincere and honest in their own approaches. Write a proper History of India by an able Historian of repute and put it on line for anyone to read free of cost. Promote the existence of it on line in discussions such as the one we are hearing now. Seek a sponsor to help with the financial help. Historical cartoon books can be made and sold cheaply through the vendors and help educate the children. If there is heroism and thrilling encounters of interest, the children will read it. They read Harry Potter with great gusto! Even KZbin education series can be made by eminent and truthful historians and the facts can be disseminated in this manner. Only a service minded historian will do this for simply the passion of it!!

Pakistan used their schools to hate India and emphasize Islam. Indian left used the opportunity in the ministry to educate the young to hate Hindus and the ancient past of India. It will take two generation's of concerted effort to remedy this deeply inculcated malady! It is a work in progress and it should start now! Hopefully, the nationalist government in office would find this as a matter of priority and allocate funds and resources towards the rectification of the warped history of India that is being dispensed to the poor unsuspecting young minds of the country!

Perhaps, history and political science should not be made compulsory till all facts and truths are consolidated and written in simple ways for students of 12 standard -16 standard. Those students with interest in history should be given a book list written by excellent historians of their times. Its time to BJP govt stars with a regulator y body to review all text books from science, engineering, english and history economics

First you need to revaluate GANDHI. Gandhi was a British agent, imported into India by a staunch pro-British Gokhle. Gandhi's job was to expel all 'extremists' like Tilak, Bipin Pal, Lajpat Rai, Aurobindo from The Congress. Gandhi prepared a plan to divide India in 1943 and from jail he sent it to Jinnah. Thus, in public he was lying that he was against the partition but he did everything to make the creation of Pakistan possible. British made a plan to create Pakistan in 1934 to make sure that the Soviet Uniion could not come to the Middle East, so that the British Army could stay in that new country to make secure the sea route from the Suez canal to Australia.. This is written in a book by Maharaja NS Sarila who was the ADC for the last three Vice Roys of India. Gandhi did everything to execute that plan to create that new country Pakistan as planned by the British. Gandhi is the real father of Pakistan.
