Nice looking razor. You're right about D/E shaving, it's the only way to fly. I've been doing it for a while, one of my better shavers is a RazoRock Game Changer open comb .84P. The nicest blade I have used is Polsilver with the sharpest maybe Feather. I have some vintage Gillette's, but prefer the simplicity of a three piece compared to adjustables and twist to opens. Nice Police BTW. I have an Endura in K390 as a work knife but have a Stainless Police (VG10) on the way as a nostalgic purchase, as it was my first Spyderco back in '90-'92, but I gifted it away.

Rex makes top of the line razors. Yea, they are expensive, but you’re getting what you pay for. I love the quality of my Rex Ambassador. Is it my favorite? I don’t know, but it’s up there.

I have used both safety razors and the cartridges. The cartridge gave me the best saves. Also once you add up the cost of the safety razors that you buy, cartridges are much cheaper. No wet shaver has just one razor more like twenty, so if you add that up cartridges are much cheaper and give a more comfortable and closer shave.

Depends if it's a hobby or not. You could get only one safety razor, like a Merkur 34C. Less pricey, good, does the job. Blades have to be disposed of properly, however. You can't (shouldn't) just throw safety razor blades in the trash.

ya but its much more fun of a journey buying new razors, trying new soaps, aftershave's etc much more enjoyable
@jefife7504 ай бұрын
@markdavis558 I disagree with every word of your comment, but YMMV. Mine did. In addition, the cost of cartridges will eventually exceed the cost of multiple razors, depending on which razors you buy I guess.

Definitely not…. $25 for a nice Parker razor and Pennie’s for blades. Anyway to each their own

@Jdsofar agree! Wet shaving is therapeutic. Cartridge saving is a task!

very deep hole sir, use and become proficient with that beaut. folks quickly buy more razors as they are perceived to give them improvements over what they have. In reality technique and skin preparation are the things that will significantly improve your shave, not more tools. fool with a tool is still a fool… regards dapper shaves

Great clip, subject and Safety Razor. One that might interest you is the Merkur 34C (silver) and it's 'Gold brother' the Merkur 34G. They are about the same physical size, short handle (there are also long handle versions) and they are a two piece Safety Razor. Double Edge (DE) Blades wise I prefer Platinum ones as the Blades don't feel as 'harsh' as the Stainless Steel ones for me (sensitive skin) and I usually do 2-3 passes,. I use Treet, Bic and Lord Platinum DE Blades mostly. Nice collection of Shaving Soaps in view too. Kind regards.

How well do you like the Butterscotch Sterling shave brush? I noticed it on your video plus that Rex Envoy razor looks outstanding! A great review!
@big_hands3 ай бұрын
Overall the brush is pretty nice, I like it. It feels good on the face and the handle shape works well and looks good on the shelf. It’s not the softest badger out there but for the price, it’s really nice. Thanks for tuning in!

The knurling on the Envoy & Ambassador make these two models the most attractive razors on the market. I do wish the knurling on the XL handle went all the way down. The Konsul’s knurling doesn’t look as rugged/nice, in my opinion.
@big_hands9 ай бұрын
I have a Konsul as well and the Envoy’s knurling is more aggressive to my hand. Me personally, I like the look of the Konsul more though and despite it being less aggressive, I find it is plenty adequate. But yea the Envoy is just wonderful
@georgewashington30129 ай бұрын
@@big_hands How do you rate the Konsul’s shave relative to other razors? I can get a BBS shave on my face with any razor but getting one on my neck is proving problematic without irritation. The slant supposedly makes for a smoother shave with less irritation but it’s an expensive experiment given the price point.

@@georgewashington3012 Once you find a blade and setting range that works well for you, it really is a great razor. It can easily handle very heavy growth but can also be very delicate on low settings. There is a new option that I believe just came out though. Rex just released the Sentry. It’s a 3 piece non-adjustable slant. Basically an Envoy with a Konsul head on it. $189 if I remember correctly
