I can tell the difference between East Asian ethnicities. But Filipinos and Polynesians have very similar features that it’s difficult to tell apart. Most Filipinos have Spanish blood which gives a distinguished feature that can even pass for Hispanic, unlike typical Asians from China, Japan, Korea, etc….

Most Filipinos having Spanish/European blood is actually a myth. Majority of Filipinos are of pure Austronesian descent. Not many Spaniards/Mexicans settled here during the colonial era, so not a lot of intermingling happened. Only prominent families (i.e. Zóbel de Ayalas, etc.) still have considerable amount of Spanish blood, and most mixed race people here are either of East Asian (mostly Chinese due to proximity) or American (mainly from sexpats and soldiers) descent.

They’re Asian. Plenty of races can look alike. Looks = Race. As a Pacific Islander I can tell the difference between a Filipino and a Pacific Islander. Even if they look similar. Because the culture and vernacular is very different . The same way I can tell a Black-American or African apart from Melanesians or darker full-blooded Polynesians.
