I played Reed once in a film for AFI. The makeup took forty-five minutes each morning. The pound of mascara was near-impossible to remove at night...

Rex Reed is so impressive and funny here. He is completely on the money both about Midnight Cowboy and Maggie Smith. His Bill Blass jacket and waistcoat are super cool for 1970 and yes, argyle, checks and 1930s and 40s style were all coming in, except it would take mainstream taste until about 1975 or 1976 to discover that. What a class act!

do have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like all the other Dick Cavett interviews

Wow! Even way back in 1970....it sure took a....ahem!...."confident male"....to wear an outfit like that....out in public. But seriously.....back in the day, Rex Reed was good at making these sorts of predictions....the only problem was......he had such an annoying/high-falutin manner about him......he turned people off.

In a weak list he might have, but to consider his performance better than Voight or Hoffman in "Midnight Cowboy" beggars belief. It's like comparing the nutritional value of an avocado with spun sugar.
