One thing I know is we’ll never get another sexy Rexy a child of the 70s thankfully ❤
@Nacho-Mamma Жыл бұрын
It wasn't power the record distributors had. What you think was power was actually payola! Producers bribed radio stations to play certain singers more than others to get them up on the ratings lists. Because, the higher up the singers rose, the more payout the record companies received. And, no! Back then, singers only received what they agreed to in their contracts, minus all of the deductions the companies withheld. The artist pays for their own tour bus, fuel, travel expenses, etc...out of their own pockets. But, the record companies also deducted those same expenses from their pay, meaning the artist would often have to pay twice as much otherwise. All the while, companies are still paying the stations to have their music played, until the artist would begin questioning the lack of money they were receiving. Then, the companies who pay stations to not play their song, destroy their career, then sue them in court for failure to do what was in their contract, and take everything from the artist before canceling their contracts, yet keeping control of their music, which quickly returns to the charts.

70’s it was the stony decade. People were expressing,experimenting and exploring their sexuality. Groovy times, not too up tight about life. Just going with the flow and times. I saw Sooner or Later when I was a young girl and loved the movie so much. I wanted to be Denise Miller. Back than the existence of a vhs or dvd was unheard of so you had to wait for a repeat. I remember when Sooner or Later was on again and I took my tape recorder and recorded the movie so I would listen to it an swoon. Than I bought the album and my friends and I would sing along and stare at our posters of Rex Smith. Such wonderful innocent memories that I treasure. Btw, I still have the album and listen to it now and than. And the movie on dvd.😄

When I was a teenager I saw the movie “Sooner or Later” & I was smitten. My best friend at the time was Celine & we watched the movie together. Either Celine or I got the money to get the record album & we played it over & over so much that her parents forbid us to play it ever again when either or both of her parents were in the house ... but we still played the record until we could sing the songs perfectly, even without the music playing. Not sure, but I think that we either wore the record out or we got sick of listening to/singing the songs ... maybe a bit of both. Lol I’ve been driven crazy over the last 20 something years trying to remember the name of the movie &/or the name of the lead actor starring in the movie but, then I “stumbled” onto an online story about a woman who knew Rex extremely well for a short time ... she knew him so well that she got pregnant with his son. As she lay in her deathbed from having cancer, she finally told her then 6 yr old son who his biologic father was ... Rex Smith.
