The 3rd Crow movie is a real hidden gem. I only saw it once but I enjoyed it. I liked the idea of the face marks being burned into his skin from the mask he wore to the electric chair, and you and never go wrong with Fred Ward.

i liked that one a lot more than i remember. i saw it a long time ago, and had no memory of it, so when i rewatched it, i was pleasantly surprised.

I love, love the Brandon Lee Crow. You can tell he took that role to heart. I remember hearing on the radio at 4am in the morning the news of his death. For some reason I couldn’t sleep that night and I had the radio on. I was so heartbroken. The original Crow is the best there is. It doesn’t need a remake or a reboot.

I recently watched all of these as part of my comic book movie quest. They aren't bad. Each movie stands alone, and they are on the level of a SyFy movie that is fun to watch if you are up at 3am and can't sleep.
@salliewagenblatt51885 жыл бұрын
The original crow is even more poignant and tragic to watch knowing Brandon lee really did die in the movie while filming a death scene.

While Wicked Prayer was awful, I thought Furlong had the androgynous look of the Crow from the comic book. Salvation was waaaay underrated.
@movietimelines5 жыл бұрын
i really enjoyed salvation. i think with a bigger budget it could've been a more worthy second entry than city of angels.
@Wglass905 жыл бұрын
When it comes to the Crow, none of the "sequels" or the films that followed the 1994 film really matter except maybe 'City of Angels' since they brought back the Sarah character and always show Gabriel the cat. From a timeline aspect, I always placed the first Crow around the early '90s (1990 at the earliest) and the second film in the late '90s (1999 at the latest) which would make a lot of sense as music would suggest such.

I think super hero movies work great when they aren't set in a certain era, they should have a chronology, but should also be timeless. The same with comic books. There should be an order to when the individual stories happen, however they don't need hard dates put on them.

Salvation is defiantly the better of the sequels. Wouldn't mind seeing a female crow. Aww...cute family moment.
@OrlockBJ5 жыл бұрын
There was a female Crow in the TV series along side Eric Draven for a time and a couple of the comic book story arcs were about female Crows. I think the absolute closest we will ever get to that in movie form is a 2013 movie called Avenged. Here's the IMDB if you're interested, it's pretty good: www.imdb.com/title/tt2378453/
@TheBadGuy2355 жыл бұрын
And say what you will about Wicked Prayer.....it's my second favorite of the Crow series lol. It's not objectively good like the first one is, but it's got so many bizarre moments that it works for me. And I always like to see Boreanaz ham it up.

i thought it was terrible, but also thought it was really fun to watch, mostly for boreanaz.

The third movie, The Crow: Salvation is based on Poppy Z Brite's novel The Crow: Lazarus Heart. In it, the lead characters are gay, his lover dies, he is framed for his murder, and Kirsten Dunst's character is his gay lover's transsexual twin.
@movietimelines5 жыл бұрын
that sounds pretty wild! i can see why they didn't go with it for a movie audience, but i'll have to check that out, as i've never read that novel.

They do mention in Salvation that the corrupt Chief is aware of The Crow being a thing he's researched. Some people scoff at it, but if you're going to be a corrupt cop or a killer in general, that's some shit you need to know about. That first round of thugs from the initial film got their shit kicked in specifically because they had no idea what they were dealing with. They got blindsided by an avenging spirit. Also, two things about Wicked Prayer: it could easily take place the same year as City of Angels, just in a different part of the country. That area does look pretty run down. Second, Jimmy isn't supposed to look 'scary'. He's supposed to look unhinged.
@darkashtar5 жыл бұрын
I've actually been on the set where the incident happened as a teenager as a field trip they didn't mention that to us I didn't even know it had happened there until many years later. I loved the first film as a teenager and I don't mind them doing a reboot that's more comic accurate. And of course dedicating it to Brandon Lee.

I'm glad Jason Mamoa isn't gonna be the new Crow, honestly. The Crow shouldn't be a big buff dude with a beard - He needs to look more like an undead member of Nine Inch Nails from the 90s. I guess at least Mamoa has long hair, The Crow also needs either long hair or a sweet mullet like the original comic - If I'm being honest, the lead's lame haircut was my number one issue with Salvation :P - Dude from the TV show honestly probably had the look down best after Brandon Lee. Well, either him or the wrestler Sting lol

You know it's odd, I didn't know this video was coming today but while I was at work I was thinking of like a comic booky/wrestling universe kind of deal where like old school Sting was a colorful crimefighter, but then he gets murdered and comes back all Crow-ish. The New World Order probably did it....or was it all the machinations of.....*dun dun duuuun* the Black Scorpion?
