Hello Andy, I have one of these in walnut stock and it shoots beautifully. I've now started using it loaded with JSB Knock out slugs of 10.03 grains and it just loves them out at 40 yards plus. The one thing I have found wrong with it though was that the holes in the sling studs fitted are too small for my sling to fit through, not a problem that a careful drill bit can't solve. Love your reviews as always and look forward to the next ones.

Morning Andy, Reximex pretensis looks a very comprehensive rifle. The multi fit scope, stock adjustment and also the weaver rail supplied in the box are excellent standard features. Safety catch perhaps wants a slight modification. Overall looks excellent value for money and I’d happily own one. You can and I have done paid a lot more for a rifle with a lot less choice and standard extras from top end manufacturers. 👍 like it .

The side lever & gauge sticks out further than the safety button so i don't think it's likely to be accidentally pressed in laying it down, you'd scratch the gauge glass anyway & if your right handed it's more natural to pick it up if it's led on the left than the right.

Thanks for this review Andy it was so good I went out and bought one in .22. I've tried a few different pellets, and I've had nothing but accuracy in all of them. I'm using mainly JSB Exact Diablos for targets and Hades for hunting, this rifle is so accurate and sweet to shoot, the smooth action has to be tried to be believed. I have found my favourite 'go to' rifle and I love it. I may not have found this rifle if I didn't subscribe and watch every review you stream so I just want to say a big THANK YOU for alerting me to this. Keep up the good work, you have a dedicated fan base that takes everything you say into serious consideration.

Thanks very much for this review. I managed to pick a new one of these in walnut .177 last year for £300 as unfortunately my local gun shop was having a closing down sale. I've popped a hawke airmax 4-16x44 and a kral silencer. I've only put a couple of magazines through it as unfortunately it's a year or two early for me as I don't have the time or energy to use it right now as I'm renovating a rather tricky bungalow, but it's comforting to know it has a thumbs up and for the money I paid for it...... well worth it.

Been waiting patiently on this one Andy, nice 1 👍 I have the FAC unregulated version in synthetic and its a beast shooting @ 42ftlbs although at full poer im only getting about 18 shots with the 260cc tube. However the power adjustment means i can extend that shot count, nice to have that option. Sticking it to the big boys at the range with rifles 2 and 3 times the price and looks good doing it.

Love to finally see this one on your channel Andy, even if I'm not shopping for a new rifle I always check your videos out for entertainment value and knowledge! I've had my walnut Pretensis for a few months now and it is superb. I've had fantastic accuracy out up to 100m with mine on the range and pellet on pellet at 20m. Mines in .22 and i get maybe around 280 shots or so before a refill (this is at 250 bar fill,). I use the low power mode in the garden at 10m, I could shoot all day with the saved air. The only issue I've had is that it seems to dislike various silencers unless i add a washer before i screw it on, no idea why though. But other than that it's a superb rifle.

I recently picked up a Reximex Lyra which is a Benjamin cayden in a new frock and what a rifle it is, to me nicer looking than the pretensis with the same trigger, barrel and cylinder and after a barrel polish it single holes and I won the walnut lottery……and £365 what a bargain.
@robofclanlennox Жыл бұрын
I've recommended that to a friend based on what I've heard from people who have one.
@robofclanlennox Жыл бұрын
I've had mine in 177 walnut 12ftlb for a year now. Shoots superbly. Even out at 50 yards at the range I am getting respectable groupings. Definitely all within the inch kill shot so can be confidently used for hunting at that range. A gripe is the rather flimsy magazines. Compare to the chonky Kral mags which are produced in the same factory and there is no excuse for that. I don't use the horrible single shot tray. Its not easy to use so I don't bother with it. Also the plastic under rail seems to be an afterthought with the single screw fitting. I fitted another screw to stop it spinning. The barrel band is flimsy. I snapped mine giving it a gentle tweak with the Allen key. Could be beefed up a bit by Reximex, as that would be a disaster on a day out, but the importer supplied a replacement and a spare at no cost so that's good news. I would recommend folks get a spare barrel band to have on standby just in case. I contacted Reximex directly with these suggestions and had some nice correspondence with them. Now, I also take my Air Arms S400-MPR-FT 177 along with me to the range. I, personally, have noticed that the functionality of both seems heavily influenced by temperature, hence the two guns. The AA preferring warmer and the Pretensis preferring colder. Might be just me but that is what I've found. On colder days the otherwise accurate AA is shooting like a dog, the Pretensis is pretty much pellet on pellet, and vice versa. Having tried loads of 177 pellets its the JSB 4.53 Exact that get the best results. In both guns. Very close behind are the QYS ones I tried. Andy, as a suggestion for one of your episodes that I haven't seen any other channels exploring could you test a few rifles and pellet types at different temperatures to see how that factor affects performance between brands/models? It might just be something that would be useful to know. It would certainly make for an interesting experiment and might influence people's purchasing decisions. For the money I would definitely recommend this (under £600!) and I much prefer it to my £1,000 FX Dreamline. There's no plastic (other than the stupid under rail) and its a solid, quality bit of kit. The machining and build quality gives me a sense of confidence. The trigger is fully adjustable and predictable and feels good. The dual scope mount is an excellent feature. The walnut stock is exquisite and pleases me whenever I take it out the case. Its a handsome rifle! Yes, its got a bit of a bang but not a problem range shooting but would need a silencer out in the field. The side mount air gauge should be standard on all rifles! I'm a big lad and I like the feel and weight of it and am comfortable shooting from the shoulder with a sling for respectable results. Not as comfortable as the AA from the shoulder obviously but better than the FX Dreamline. If I was out rabbiting this would be my goto PCP. Just replace the well made metal air stripper with a silencer. One point to note that after a couple of tins of pellets new it was shooting hot at just under 14ftlbs on a fill but it settled down eventually to 11.7ftlbs. The power adjuster came in handy there. I believe Lane's offer an after-market regulator for the Pretensis but to be fair I get 4 or 5 mags out of it without any noticeable pressure drop or loss in accuracy so I'll leave well enough alone. Hope this is useful feedback?

Good revieuw Andy. This rifle seems to a rebranded Krall Arms Puncher (same receiver block, same rail system, same trigger config, all but the name on the stock). If the quality is still the same as when i bought my Krall's, you can expect an accuracy just a tiny hair's breath away from 10m competition rifles. These are truly great rifles for a very modest price. Put on a decent scope and find the sort of pellet/slugg it realy loves (it likes many sorts of pellets for decent accuracy, but only a few give truly amazing accuracy) and enjoy shooting.

Having this delivered tommorrow unregulated in walnut, been looking out for your review on it as i do like your channel & your advice is very helpful, regulated or not i still don't know if i've made the right decision? O'rings to wear out & replace in time on the regulated? regulator creep? regulator taking up more air tank space? Those are the reasons that put me off choosing a regulated.

I've had an unregulated version in 177 with walnut stock since May this year. Put around 1500-2000 pellets through it so far, its pretty much pellet on pellet with JSBs out to 35 yds. What is regulated vs unregulated please ?
@robofclanlennox Жыл бұрын
@@Dallco83 In a regulated air gun the air storage chamber has a regulator fitted so that the air pressure delivered to the breech is the same for each shot throughout each air fill. An unregulated gun does not have the regulator fitted so pressure and power will drop eventually. You will have to shoot pellets from a full fill and keep shooting until you notice them starting to drop. Once you know how many accurate shots are between full fill and starting to drop, then you know when to refill the air.
@robofclanlennox Жыл бұрын
@@Dallco83 You can buy after-market regulators that you can have fitted. I believe Lane's do one for the Pretensis. As long as you know the unregulated power curve its not a major issue but it would be nice if it came with one.
