i get so happy when i see something like a lighter or locket or something being restored. Even though the person it belonged to is gone, the little piece of metal that they carried in their pocket is being restored and cared for. 10/10 job.

Nice to see a piece with honest to goodness rust, pitting and defects that actually needs work to restore. This is patience, skill and talent. Too many other restoration channels have pieces that they've caked in mud and they say, Oh, look how rusty it is! Awesome to see a real restoration!

It depends what type of soil it's in. I have metal detected coins in different soil types and it affects metals differently. Also what metals are composed of affects their rate of decay.

Restoring a 100 year old lighter? The first thing you’re going to need is an old piece of acacia wood, obviously. Amazing restoration. 10/10 I miss the quality of how things were made before “planned obsolescence.”
