I actually freaked out when I was playing the beta test and suddendly heard monsterverse ghidorah sounds. Genuinely took me by surprise, but this man over here is an absolute masterclass in creature, sound and combat design

I love how Rey Dau's voice just sounds like an abominable mix of whale sounds, dolphin sounds, train horn sounds, violin sounds, and scrapping metal. Half of those sounds are sounds I could never expect coming from a monster and somehow sounding slightly realistic

The sound he makes when flying is very similar to the chimes in the village, so I believe the chimes are there to deter rey dau from attacking them. Both are equally grating. Good sound design tho

I've been thinking about how to describe this thing, and I think I have it. Rey Dau *is* the storm, or, rather, it is the embodiment of that single, most powerful, raw, and violent moment in the storm. The moment the lightning arcs from the sky to the ground, scorching the ground and frying anything unfortunate enough to be in its path. It *is* that moment the current of energy arcs from wire to wire, it is the SOUND that follows the melting of sand to glass. And god, is it such a wonderful fight.

It definitely sounds like they were inspired by Ghidora for Ray's sound design, it's just too similar. They're even both lightning-shooting, gold-plated wyverns for Pete's sake. So we have Godzilla in Jho Kong in Rajang Rodan in Rathalos and now Ghidora in Ray Now we need a Moth neopteron Large Monster, preferably one that can focus light into laser beams.

I love how every monster in this game so far looks and feels like an even blend of mainstream Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter Frontier. Arkveld has chain whips only seen thrice. Rey Dau has an evolved digit that is separate from the rest of its wing membrane and acts like a giant blade. Lala Barina has an abdomen that blossoms like a rose when threatened. A fucking flame octopus! This cannot come out sooner, lol.
