Reylo is done so well. It is very childlike. I love the way he looks at her, with big eyes. To me the way they are portraying Reylo is being done as a very traditional fairytale. The kiss between Ben and Rey will come at the end of episode 9, just like most traditional fairytales do.

In regards to whether or not Ben/Kylo was 100% loyal to Snoke when he brought Rey to him. It's also important to remember that at the beginning of the movie, when Kylo is first meeting with Snoke, he tries to stand up to Snoke only to get blasted by Force lightening. Kylo's allegiance starts to turn in that scene after he's been degraded and abused by Snoke, he's finally had enough. He killed his father, who he did not hate, for Snoke, but that wasn't enough for Snoke. So when Rey, the first person who he's had a legitimate, non-abusive connection with in years, shows up and is being mistreated by Snoke and, Snoke started taking credit for the one good thing to happen to Kylo in years, it's the final straw.

Lauren McInnis Tweaking a bit, he killed his dad for Snoke as you said. He didn't hate him but he did it to show loyalty and that he follows him yet it got Kylo nowhere with Supreme Leader and nowhere with himself emotionally. Which is also why he was so mad at Snoke: " did everything you've asked of me/me to do", "did it without hesitation" Yet Snoke still dogged him. Don't forget how Snoke gave a good comment about Hux before that right. Someone Kylo doesn't like at all. So it was damage all around. Oh, and dogged out his mask. So Kylo probably felt he'll be a monkeys uncle before he does another "kill them" deed for Snoke, esp someone he does feel something for, just to end up getting raw-dogged again.

Lauren McInnis I'm not sure if Kylo killed Han for Snoke. It seemed more to me that he thought it was the last unforgivable act that would finally strip away any doubts within himself and commit him to the dark. It didn't work. It just broke him some more.

That moment when Rey tosses her light saber to Kylo and he 'finishes' and then gets this intense look on his face. Wow... Even as a Reylo shipping since TFA, the movie shocked me on so many levels. I didn't expect sexuality to be discussed in Star Wars at all - specially not within Reylo. At best, I thought if Reylo was supposed to happen, it would be implied at the end of IX. But it wasn't and I was shocked. I watched the movie with my husband. And even to a guy it was obvious that there is attraction coming from both of them. I awkwardly asked him if Rey will still be paired with someone else and he laughed - saying its impossible to top Kylo.

Wetness is another sexual metaphor used a couple of times. First time is after one of their force bond moments in the rain, and Kylo wipes the liquid from his face. Then the camera zooms in on his fingers also covered in wetness. There's also the "cave of puberty" where Rey discovers her sexual awakening, and comes out soaking wet, hair down, and telling this to a boy she snuck into her room. Then there's the "fingering" motion of Kylo's two fingers that he uses to summon the phallic lightsaber, which Rey immediately grabs.

I think when she got to the ship he knew instinctively he had to keep his facial expressions neutral and control and conceal what he was thinking bc of Snoke. So in the elevator he’s looking straight ahead until she says his name, then we get a little reaction which I think is partly because it’s the first time she has said his real name to him. I love that he doesn’t correct her. Then during Snokes interrogation of Rey he’s playing it really cool. He’s probably concentrating on trying to conceal his feelings and intentions hidden. He doesn’t seem to react much until she’s up in the air screaming. His eyes flick up to her and it looks like he’s concerned and angry (his bae ❤️ needs him) and is getting ready to act.

Kylo removed his helmet for rey in TFA. He removed his glove and went topless for Rey in TLJ. I'm rubbing my palms excitedly together on what else would come off in episode IX.

At first, Rey tells Luke she's going to try to turn Ben to the light so he can be an ally to the Resistance. But, her intentions are much deeper than that. No one would risk their life by flinging their space pod into a First Order ship unless it's for someone you have strong feelings for. When the pod opens and you see Rey's face when she sees Ben, it's all written there. They were both so alone for so long, the force connection was enough to bring them together. Then she enters his personal space in the elevator and when she says his real name for the first time, his eyes react and almost seem to flicker. After the lightsaber dual, you'll notice that once Ben extends his hand to Rey and asks her to join him, she already starts to cry at this point even before he mentions that her parents were nobodies. Why cry for someone you were only there to recruit for your cause? I think it was beautifully done. Loved this video, as always!

Pieter Leemans It wasn't a lie? The future did come true in a sense. Rey foresaw that Ben would turn against Snoke and stand with her. That came true. The problem is Rey *misunderstood* the force vision. As did Ben (although I personally believe Ben's force vision has not occurred yet). Rey's understanding of her vision was that Ben turns against Snoke and stands with Rey because he has turned back to the light. And if we take a look back at the other films, the force vision would always come true. Unfortunately, visions are difficult and nearly impossible to interpret because the person's emotions tend to cloud their judgement.

As has been pointed out by many people who have analysed the fight scene in the throne room, when Rey leans back on Ben, their pose forms something akin to a yin and yang symbol, her light grey Jedi robes against his darker uniform, her stable blue light sabre raised up while his unstable red one is held low. Since that symbol is iconically associated with notions of complimentary forces held in balance in Eastern mythology - most famously the balance between male and female - it has widely been interpreted as a hint that their combat against Snoke's Praetorian Guards is a glimpse of how powerful they will become when they embrace their shared role of bringing Balance to the Force. The Yin and Yang symbol is also sometimes seen as embodying love across a divide that brings two people together to form a whole greater than its constituent parts. make of that what you will...

They aren't bringing balance to the Force. That was accomplished by Anakin..maintaining balance or stabilizing it more is probably more apt.

I don't actually agree with you on that Scott B - Anakin killed Palpatine and thus removed the Dark Side's immediate source of influence in the galaxy at the time, allowing for the New Republic to rise, but then what happened? Snoke and the First Order rose as a response to the New Republic, and as a reaction to the First Order we got the Resistance. That isn't balance, that is the continuation of a cycle of conflict where first one side of the Force is in the ascendancy, then the other, but neither state of affairs brings lasting peace to the galaxy. Anakin's actions broke the power of the Empire and with it the Dark Side in the short term, but in the longer term all that did was perpetuate the cycle. Ultimately, and as explored in the old Expanded Universe novels, balance cannot be brought to the Force by violence, but only by consensus. And the first step in achieving that consensus is to acknowledge that neither the Light nor Dark Side of the Force can exist without its respective opposite, but simultaneously complementary, expression. As the Last Jedi explores through Luke's character, in their own way, the old Jedi Order was every bit as unbalanced as the Sith, just not as directly destructive. Their way didn't work, and indeed their very fear of the Dark Side's influence, that lead them to reject attachment, left those they trained isolated and unable to understand how the people they were charged to protect actually lived their lives, and this made them vulnerable to falling under the influence of the most extreme expressions of the Dark Side of the Force. A new paradigm is needed, and I think Rey and Ben's ability to see each other as more than their respective innate Force alignment leanings is that new start. They will probably become Grey Jedi, and in the process both bring balance to the Force and find peace of mind for themselves.

When Snoke is commanding Kylo Ren to prove his loyalty by killing Rey, Kylo uses his left hand to kill Snoke. He choses her saber instead of his own. He shows his loyalty to her by using his left hand to free her from Snoke. Such a small detail, but I feel like it is important.

The left hand is the one that you wear your wedding band on. Marriage is the ultimate sign of loyalty to someone, so Kylo using his left hand to show his loyalty to her is probably significant. As an added observation, before when Rey pulls Kylo's saber to her she uses her left hand. She's choosing his saber over her own. And this happens directly after the elevator scene.

Also the left hand is usually the weaker hand. So he’s forgoing his own strength to save her. Ie showing his vulnerability towards her. And something else which I doubt was behind their reasoning: in Judaism your dominant side of your body represents gevurah-strength also sometimes meaning heroism. And your non-dominant side represents chesed- kindness. Kindness and compassion are essentially the same thing. AND *drumroll* Anakin described compassion as unconditional love. So if the writers/Directors know about this concept it makes it all the more awesome!! 😱😍❤️

My theory is that Snoke just took credit for the bond to manipulate them both. Honestly when i saw the movie i was convinced that their bond wasnt broken when snoke died, i thought it was Rey who kept those dice there for Kylo to find, and also their last interaction. You guys notice also during the tender moment where they're touching hands, that he is also shaking. You notice that her hand is completely steady, yet he is shaking. Almost as if a lover who's never found someone to be intimate with, but has seen that side of intimacy and never experienced it. It's almost, I believe the same for First Blood. From the first time I watched the movie I felt it was very sexual, and those sexual moments where directed towards Rey at first. I mean first we have the alien titty milk that's a very weird scene, but it caught my attention that her expression shows awkwardness and then she looks away! Then, I thought about all the Ahch-to set up. I don't know if I'm reading to much into this, but you alredy were talking about Luke being portrayed as an angry father haha but I mean we have this island of the first jedi temple. We all know that the force, the jedi and the sith are based on christianity, so sometimes the force is treated like a sacred energy, and so is the temple, this sacred place of chastity, not only becase Luke lives there all alone but also because there are actual NUNS. The caretakers are NUNS!! And what are nuns known about, aside from taking care of the poor and the ill? Chastity. Also, they don't like Rey at all, she says "I think they don't like me". Maybe they don't like her because she's destroying the island haha but I also think they don't like her in the same way Luke doesn't like her. He doesn't trust her because she is going to the dark side without any hesitation, and the dark side meaning that she can discover unknown aspects of herself, from her who her parents are to her sexuality. It is very funny for me, actually haha I mean Luke is speaking of the force like a sacred and pure energy, and Rey and Kylo develop this intimacy and maybe have a sexual awakening through the sameforce that is supposed to be sacred lol. So I think the contrast between how Luke and the jedi understand the force (especially since the jedi were all like "no attachments, no procreation"), the set up in Ahch-to with the nuns and hermit Luke (implying chastity), and how Rey and Kylo experience the force, is made on purpose to show that the force bond between them leads them to sexual tension and to develop romantic feelings towards each other.

A good point, which I hadn't considered until now. One of the tragic flaws in the Jedi philosophy has been the complete abstention from deep attachment, or love, or family. They embrace the holy love, while rejecting the body's love, which is unrealistic for the deep needs of a living being. The fact that these two (Rey in particular, and Kylo to a lesser extent) are unafraid of crossing between the two directions of dark and light, to find balance, is a very hopeful sign that they could work together to forge a new direction for force users in the universe. It is also really funny to me, the awkwardness that would be inherent in two inexperienced people fumbling around with each other while trying to hide their business from their restrictive, fundamentalist families, haha I hope things work out, where they can be happy together in some way. A positive example of romantic love, and one than can transform a life for the better, would be a thrilling conclusion for this trilogy.

If you look closely, when the two figures merge to make one figure, it's Kylo. You can see the outline of his hair perfectly. When it reveals Rey's face, it doesn't match the silhouette, which shows thick hair above the shoulders, while Rey's hair goes down her back. I don't know who the two figures are, but the one "she needs" is definitely Kylo.

many people think Kylo is weak and because of it him killing Snoke is unrealistic, but look: Snoke and Luke (2 powerful force users, who have seen many powerful force users) say that Kylo has some raw power... this power must be something special, but because of emotional conflict in Kylo he can't use it, but if he can concentrate and calm himself, and be sure (not conflicted) about something he can use his full power and this happened with Snoke. earlier Snoke was saying to Kylo that after Han he become more weak end conflicted, but when Snoke orders him kill Rey (and before he said he manipulated their force bond and that and Reys torture made Kylo angry) Snoke says that conflict and weakness in Kylo was changed to strength... so there is it, when Kylo knows what he wants and it is emotional too and not onli rational, "I must to do it" thing, he can be really strong and fully use his natural power :)

and people don't like that Snoke was killed so "easily"....they want something new and shock, they get but still don't like, it's stereotype that main villain should be killed in difficult way at the end of movie/trilogy, but we are tired about things that happened 10000 times... and I always wondered why every hero must defeat villain in open battle or something like that, when the great evil is so powerful why can't someone have enough mind to think some different way, wouldn't be it more realistic? and finely my boy, Kylo did it )))) so he broke all cliches + he really fulfilled his destiny/wish - he finished what Vader started/couldn't do, he really become emperor, and he did it much younger age then Vader (killed emperor) or even Palpatin (become emperor)....

Snoke definitely did not create the force bond. The Star Wars databank states: "On Takodana, Skywalker's lightsaber called to Rey, who experienced a force vision. She rejected this call to destiny, but was captured by the dark side warrior Kylo Ren, with WHOM SHE SHARED A STRANGE CONNECTION. As Rey's force abilities grew, so did her mysterious connection with Kylo-somehow they could hear and see each other across millions of light years. To Rey's surprise, Kylo no longer tried to hide his hurt and pain from her - and he suggested that the story of how he'd betrayed Luke Skywalker wasn't as simple as Rey had been led to believe." This implies the connection (aka the force bond) between Rey and Kylo had already developed sometime back in TFA. It's likely the "connection" was established during the interrogation scene when they are both pushing into each other's minds wit the force.

I think Kylo wasn’t giving up anyone else he truly cared about for Snoke. Not anymore. He didn’t hate his father, he loved him, but it wasn’t enough! He wasn’t about to let Snoke kill Rey.

He probably sensed a connection between them at some point and used it to his advantage. It's almost ironic really, giving that it only made their connection stronger and ultimately sealed his fate.

Hey I'm A BIG fan of your videos! I love love love them. I look forward to each and every one. I just wanted to voice an idea about how Ben receives Rey in the Supremecy and how it could be seen as cold. I never really got the impression that he was cold. I think he was just as happy to see her there as she was to see him (I mean he floofed his hair and got pretty for her too XD) but since he is* on Snoke's ship he wouldn't really have much of a choice but to bring her to Snoke. And as far as he knew, Snoke didn't know about the force bond between them. He may have been distancing himself a bit to protect it because above all, I believe he was already committed to Rey. But I mostly say this because while he looked distant at first as soon as she says his name in the elevator he goes all soft again in his eyes and there's the tenderness again he only has for her. (and that elevator ride cut them short! they would've kissed! lol jk... kind of 😳) And i really agree and like that leap of faith thing! I don't really think Benlo planned it all out but he believed in the vision and that with Rey by his side things would work out. While he didn't react too much while she was being manhandled/tortured by creeper Snoke, we as the audience are shown a glimpse of his mind in his facial reactions, which subtly changed from panic to anger. At least it looked that way to me. Anyways, that's just what I thought. Thanks for these vids! They're absolutely awesome and so well made, from the analysis you make to the gifs you choose which always make me laugh.

Love your videos! One thing I wanted to bring up is the part where Ben takes Rey to Snoke and watches as events unfold. You slowly see him become more and more agitated towards Snoke. When Rey takes Kylo saber and is thrown on the floor, you see his saber slide to Bens feet. As it does so, it's spinning, and you see his reflection watching the saber spin to a stop. Immediately after this, Snoke says he senses resolve in Kylo, and Kylo says he knows what he has to do. He tricks Snoke by "turning" the sabers at the same time. To me, it was clear that his loyalties flipped in that throne room. And when the force showed him an opportunity, he went for it.

Another interesting take on the Princess storming the castle to save her Prince is that I actually think of it more like the Princess has to go to the dark castle to try and tame the dragon (innuendo and double entendre intended) in order to save the kingdom...and because she actually realizes that she loves that poor tortured dragon and wants to set him free. At least that's what it seems like to me.

I agree with your explanation about Snoke claims that he connected Kylo and Rey. I think he sensed that connection between them and used it as their weaknesses. He even says it, he knew Kylo was weak and would fall for Rey and Rey would take the bait to try to turn Kylo to the light. In the end Snoke underestimated his apprentice.

Lily Martinez It is an important part of dialogue. Now, the question is how Kylo can become a men, not a serveant? Snoke knew that Kylo have to fall like Vader to become Vader. Kylo had to kill his master to save Rey the same way as Vader did to save Luke. Snoke is immortal in a different way than Luke. He can also project himself far away in the universe. Now Snoke gets a real bad guy who killed his true enemy (he hated Snoke).

The only comment I don't agree with is that Kylo should have winked at rey when she showed up to the "supreme leaders house", because SNOKE is very powerful. I'm sure it took KYLO REN a long time to be able to figure out how to how to hide some of his feelings from SNOKE; if you watch in the beginning of the movie KYLO always tries to play it cool around SNOKE no matter how angry SNOKE may make him and than has his outburst when he is away from SNOKE'S presence. The one time KYLO (could not control himself) AND had an outburst in front of SNOKE he was shocked by SNOKE and SNOKES guards were in the defense.)Im sure KYLO knew if he made any gesture to Rey of comfort or reaching out to her DURING THEIR ENCOUNTER SNOKE would have read this in REYS mind and any desire to turn on SNOKE would have been difficult because his defenses would have been up. It was amazing how much control Snoke thought he had over kylo that it lead to his downfall. So his encounter with Rey was what it needed to be, in order to be able to accomplish what they accomplished, even if it was not what he intended to do. I love all Rey and Kylo scenes together I Thought they were well thought out and careful choreographed. I felt drawn to them every time I watch scenes of them together and am rooting for them and the promise of a better future. Finally, a relationship that doesn't follow the tragic relationships from shakespearean play.

I believe what he said about her parents and only because she was the one who said it first “they were nobody”. Also in my opinion having this protagonist without anyone significant being her parents is really nice! Showing even if you are a “nobody” you can be a somebody. But love the video! All the reylo in this movie was great and i think for a middle movie that it was pretty good at conveying what is to come in episode 9.

3:19 I agree. Snoke says he connected them with the force which is believable through out the movie. However, toward the end of the movie when the rebels are fleeing from crate, they see each other through the force one last time, before Rey closes the door to the falcon. That is after Snoke is killed so in my interpretation he couldn’t have been the one to connect them otherwise they would not have seen each other at that moment

Another great video ladies! 👏🏽 I have a question though, if Kylo had no conflict going into Snoke’s throne room then what do you think the conflict is Rey senses in him during the elevator scene? She does say “I feel the conflict in you, it’s tearing you apart.” Is it not necessarily light v. dark conflict and more conflict in that he’s not sure how to proceed? I do love the idea of Kylo’s leap of faith but I’m wondering how that coincides with what Rey says. On my first viewing I actually got the sense that Kylo was upset that Rey showed up on the Supremacy and put herself in danger. “Like dammit Rey why would you show up here? Now I have to take you to Snoke and how the hell am I supposed to make sure you get out alive?” So the conflict in the elevator (to me anyways) was Kylo’s battling loyalties to both Rey and the First Order. And then when his hand was forced by Snoke, his choice was clear and his conflict was gone. Hence Snoke’s line of “Where there was conflict, I now sense resolve.” But that could just be me. Every time I watch any of your videos my little Reylo brain just gets working! Keep up the amazing work ladies!

When Rey "senses the conflict" in him, she also think he's betraying her and taking her to Snoke. I'd guess that her Kylometer is a bit off. Maybe what she is sensing is that he's not going to betray her, and it's at odds with what she is seeing, and she interprets it as conflict. That's my take. I just think he's too serene for a conflicted Kylo. We've seen him being torn apart before, and it looks quite different. But yeah, awesome comment!

Maybe both of their visions of each others futures only showed them fighting together against the guards as a team which would be why they both assume each will turn to the other side and why Kylo knows he will kill Snoke... or figures it out quickly in the moment.

I actually think the bond started earlier than Takonada. When Kylo is told that BB8 and Fin were "accompanied by a girl" he immediately Force chokes the officer. What if Kylo had seen Rey's first scene, where she's scavenging a Star Destroyer with her face covered? It would explain why he's so focused on "the girl".

Another great point, their force connection remained even after Snoke's death. How would that be possible if it were Snoke who established it. Would it remain even after his death? It certain gives credence that Snoke didn't create this bond between them.

Okay first of, amazing video, when I saw this I literally screamed while in a family reunion, totally normal. Secondly, I love your points and opinions here it's so true! And I also wanted to point out that at the end of the movie when Rey is on a ship and closes the door. For me it was at THAT part where it was pointed out that Snoke didn't create that bond. He was dead and yet there still Force Timing each other as if they have 1000 MBPs Space Wifi! He didn't create it, the Force meant them to be together!!
