There is a new shelter at Washington and 28 st. They give you 3 meals a day, have showers and laundry facility. They do not kick you out in the morning, you can rest in the rec room and watch tv. Counselors are available for resources, they just lean against the wall and you just walk up to them for assistance.

No matter what addiction you have ,you still deserve running water and a place to feel safe . You are worthy of a beautiful life make your self useful, we build trust and respect for people who can inspire us from the way they carry themselves. They will have the urge to use wherever they are. It's called addiction. It makes people sell the place they can rest their head safely. That often is how they lost their home in the first place. You can't really help these people as long as they are addicted. Of course it is possible to provide some form of shelter and hope that they are ready to detox some day, but it's an illusion to think that giving them everything will stop them from using. That's not how addiction works.

Ok, everyone that is homeless, please When you have 2-3 bucks, go to the dollar store. Buy a plastic freezer zip lock bag & a $1 roll of masking/duct/whatever kind of tape. When you are tired or using (& you might nod out), put your phone, ID, any money, any of your "stuff", small important things into the bag & zip lock it with no air in it. Then go into a bathroom or somewhere discreet & tape that bag to your body & I mean tapeit really good underneath your clothing where you cannot notice it. I'm serious! Almost every freakin video is about if they fall asleep, or get high, or look away for a minute all their things are stollen over & over &over again! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again & again while expecting a different result. Everytime a homeless person goes to sleep, They should expect that they will get robbed so...... THINK! Even if you have no bag, tape the phone & the ID to your body where nobody will know it's there. You could even say things while you are astound people before you go to sleep like, "this sucks! I have nothing, everything got stolen again!" That way they won't even think you have a phone & other stuff. Also-if you do hide the phone when you want to sleep, make sure you turn the phone off. Lol 😉✌

She said she is 37, she has been on the streets for 7 years bcuz her mother wouldn't support her anymore. She said that nobody else in her family could support her basically bcuz they have their own lives to take care of & she was THIRTY YEARS OLD when her mom stopped taking care of her & moved on with her partner. I'm sure there is so much more to the story, there always is...... I do wishher well but the reason sheif on the streets as an adult from age 30 to age 37 is bcuz she was not working & she is using drugs. She may have burned her bridges & she should be trying to repair those. I do feel sad about her father passing & she didn't know. Again, there might be more to that.

It shouldn’t be illegal to live on the streets if you’re homeless. Where else are you gonna live? Same with the bathrooms…The city should make port-a-potties for the homeless, like they did in LA…don’t know if they do anymore. You have to register as a SA offender if you “go” outside, at least where I live. This criminal justice system has some crazy priorities. Unfortunately, a lot of it is on purpose. Property is more important than people, here. As someone said, “The system works the way that it is supposed to.” Reyna is smart and outspoken. I believe her take on things. I’ve been to shelters that aren’t safe, or bad in other ways, too. A few made people lose jobs because they made people attend house meetings and chores at specific times. If your chore was dishes after lunch, you had to call in to work to get it done by 1:30, if you couldn’t find someone to trade chores. If someone didn’t cover for you when they said they would, you got kicked out, after a few times. They should be flexible with people with jobs, so they can keep them! Why set people back to burden the system more? Our Transitional housing takes $1000 a month and gives you $47 to live on, and you can’t stay for over 2 years. Lots of people are kicked out sooner. How do you save for rent? A friend from treatment was beaten into a coma in a halfway house, and not expected to live. There was dealing going on.

So she was living with her mom at 30, then her mom left and she was out in the streets? So she was 30 and dependent. It's sad for her but most of these people put themselves in that situation. Very sad.

When the system kicks you out or you leave it, it's extremely hard to get back in, and that's by design.

This is a tragedy. Shelter is a basic human need and it should be a right for everyone. The problem with North America is that we leave people out to die, while others are rich beyond imagination. This system will collapse one day and that day can't come too soon.

I understand her pain. Back pain. Carpal Tunnel. Muscle spasm. I went through Physical Therapy. But the pain still come back. Ibuprophen gave me Ulcers 3 times. And i can't even take it any more. Tried all kinds of pain killer they gave me. But i am living with THE PAIN. It will wake you up at odd hours of the night. But i refuse to get on anything else. I lived on the street before. It was scary!! I understand what she is talking about.

While I understand the basic point of this channel, making people aware of the dire poverty levels in one of the richest countries in the world.. A noble thing to do.. But basically having them tell younger kids "don't end up like me" when most reasons these people are out there were beyond their control to begin with.. Everyone is one bad day away from ending up where they are now.. Also asking homeless people for their social media info? Really.. My dude of guys, good on you for getting these stories out there but the world should not be treating these people as a "stay in school" lesson.

Wow...7 years on the streets. I can feel your pain. Reyna: You gotta check into a rehab, shelter and work 2 jobs to keep yourself busy. If you don't have an ID, the shelters and non-[profits can help you get an ID. This is a difficult situation but if you don't make a big change... I don't know what will be different after 7 years on the streets? I wish you nothing but the best and will continue to follow...
