Agreed. The trunk uses lift supports and I’ve hurt myself so many times! They only last a decade, so I had to replace them in 2004, and then again in 2014. 2024 is approaching, and Im wondering if I should just give in and buy them first of the year, rather than wait for another head injury.

I honestly am glad the hood doesn’t have lift supports. I had a 1988 BMW 325i convertible before getting my mustang, and it used lift supports for everything. The hood, the trunk, the convertible boot, which needed to stay open for you to manually put up/down the top. Those supports only last a decade, so they were pretty much shot by the time I got the car. My 94 mustang however, I have hurt myself so many times from when the trunk lid would fall on my head. Every decade I have to replace them. 2004, 2014, and now I’m worried about next year when I’ll have to do it yet again! Thank goodness it’s just the trunk!

That fuel cutoff switch is a really good safety feature. I got rear ended one time and when I went to start the car it wouldn't turn over. One of the cops came over and told me to pop the trunk and check to see if the cutoff switch activated. It did. I hit the button amd the car was able to turn over . I thought that was pretty neat.

The '94 to 98 cars are my favorite SN95 Mustang, esp the '96 to '98 cars. Ford botched the design of the '99 to '03 Mustangs IMHO. Regarding the tiny rear seats, that's a compromise to make the car affordable to insure. Many insurance companies (then as well as now) charge astronomical amounts for two seater specialty cars, regardless of size. Most finance companies require carrying full coverage in case of an accident to protect their investment (the car) in case it gets totaled in a wreck. If you need a larger rear seat, get a Fox T-bird/Cougar ('83 to '88) or the later '89 to '97 T-bird/Cougar (bigger car but also larger rear seat), or better yet, a Panther body (Crown VIc/Mercury Grand Marquis/Lincoln Town Car). The Cobra R model Mustangs all had a rear seat delete.

I added a clutch extender pedal because I felt like I had to sit too close to the wheel to shift. The seats aren't very good, you slide a bit on sharp curves. That's pretty "bright" - breaking federal law and boasting about it in front of millions on KZbin. Be sure to let us know the truth about prison food too, and don't forget to show us your prison mugshot and that six figure EPA fine (that's right) you're in the hole for.
@houseofno3 жыл бұрын
All 96 and later cars were required to have OBD-II diagnostics and pollution controls installed. This was a federal emissions law requirement. OBD-II is a double edged sword. On one hand, it makes engines easier to diagnose using widely available engine code readers. On the downside, OBD II ECMs compare pre-cat emissions with what's going on AFTER the cats. A discrepancy will trigger a CEL (Check Engine Light).

I have a 2003 Mustang. I'm 6' 240, and I fit in the back seat. Not a place I'd want to spend a lot of time, but they are legal, functional seats. If you routinely use back seats, then I'd suggest getting a Crown Vic. I have one of those too. My Mustang does not have fog lights, and the cup holders actually work fairly well, though the front one works much better than the rear one. It's not as deep and larger in diameter. I prefer prop rods for the hood. Lift supports fail fairly quickly, and you either have to keep replacing them, or carry something to use for a prop rod. They did get carried away with the cat cons. Even with a dual exhaust they only needed two. But. By using 6, they did improve exhaust flow a little bit, which also added a couple of hp. And since there are so many power crazed nut cases out there who care about nothing else, that's what Ford did.

@@midnight347 I’ve thought about that too, but it wasn’t until 1999 that the cobra r setup was developed, and it was a lot of one off parts. In 2003 we got the terminator. Maybe an introduction of the supercharged cobra with the new edge in 1999, as the SVT lightning had the 5.4 2v SC in 1999. Will the impending EPA regulations influence your new exhaust system ? All of a sudden I'm not so hot to change my factory equipment .

I wouldn't. You might have missed the news articles, but the EPA has been on a tear lately going after aftermarket companies deleting emissions equipment in violation of the 1970 Clean Air Act. These six figure (that's right) fines are NO joke. This is a federal law (not state, so the EPA doesn't care if your state doesn't do smog inspections). Google "EPA fines rolling coal." Up to you if you really want to play chicken with the Feds. Not me, thank you. Also, new regulations do not retroactively affect cars that have already been built, titled, and sold.

That car is still a Foxbody. The cup holder is between the e brake and seat or ashtray. Also between the seat and door, just don't forget and open the door, otherwise, you lose your route 44 Dr. Pepper.

The refreshed cup holders were useless, either smashing the shifter into your drink or making a left turn and spilling your drink on the seats.
