When I am pulling the data into the Dropdowns, it is showing the ID field instead of the project name. Can I display the name field, or must I delete the ID field. I know you mentioned that Dataverse/power apps creates the master and foreign and builds the relationship itself, but when I did this sort of thing many years ago in access, I could create a relationship on the key field and display another field in the related table.

Thanks a lot Reza! I always learn something new & tricky from your videos. Your videos are always very helpful and are the reason that I have been able to develop a working app for my team. I have almost similar scenario for which I am developing an App but looks like I am missing something and not able to move forward. Here is the scenario : We have #50 customers and #25 Tools and multiple implementation state for each tool. For each customer we want to know the status of every tool. Example, For customer A, Tool-1 is implemented but Tool-2 is in POC state whereas Tool-3 - POC Cancelled. So this way, For each customer, we will have #25 entries (#25 tools) and every entry will capture implementation status of respective tool for that customer. That means, total 50*25 = 1250 entries which will be stored in either sharepoint or excel or dataverse for teams. I want to build a Power App using which I can retrieve data from datasource-->Filter data for each customer so on a single page I am able to see tool name & implementation status of all the tools for Customer A ---> Edit those records and then save back to the datasource. Your guidance on this will be helpful. Thanks, Ashish.

Thank you Raza. Your video is very useful, and helps me to learn different platforms much easier. While working in sharepoint and Power Apps the value for ID column upon add, edit and delete operations, we have to add more logics. Also at the SP list side the value for ID column was in incremental order so there was no way for me to reset before going live(after development). In dataverse after watching your video, I get a feeling its not a problem. I also noticed the update operations are very quick.

I'm going to be migrating our company from SharePoint to Dataverse and I need some graphics that relay the benefits, which, in turn, justify the added expense for licensing. It is in italian but there are two table: "Utenti (users)" and "Utenti Microsoft (Microsoft users)". When I show their content I didn't find my organization identities. I have found a virtual table called "Microsoft Entra Identity" and it shows the accounts in my domain so I've thinked to use it but it is not allowed to create on that table a many-to-many relationship. I really appreciate a your feedback and again thanks for your job.

Microsoft Entra Identity is a virtual table. You cannot create many-many relationships with a virtual table as the data does not live in table.

For e.g. 1 client can have many projects so it will be 1:N and many clients can have many projects so it will be N:N My confusion is what relationship is correct here 1:N or N:N ? On adding or removing items to my relationship table by Relate/Unrelate my main gallery and neither the names list gallery gets updated. I am looking to create an asset management tool where I can assign users to particular assets, such as laptops or phones. However, I need to be able to record the assignment history. So I can check who has been assigned a particular device since it's purchase, or what devices have been assigned a particular user since they joined us. There is a column of type Choices in Dataverse. Give that a try!

Thank you again for another great video! I've been scouring the internet, but can't find an intelligent way to automate the connection between two different records. My data source (dynamics 365) has a Projects table, and a People table, and there it knows which project each person is assigned to (many people, one job; but that person can also be on multiple jobs, just like your example). In my export (via a dataflow) I create these 2 tables, but it doesn't make sense for me to manually duplicate that linkage downstream. To set the lookup value I've tried looking at business data rules, setting the value via the dataflow, but I'm having no luck. I'm sure it is something stupid simple, but I feel lost.

for anyone reading the thread, the answer I found was to use a power automate flow that runs when a new line is added to the table to update that line with the link, kind of round-a-bout, but it seems to work. (though it was a convoluted solution to get the system to allow me to set a lookup value).

Reza, quick follow up question if I may. When you do a lookup column it gives you the value that is in the primary name colmn in the table you are looking up. Thats ok but what if that table were a user table where names are not unique, if I give it an autonumber as the primary name column it then makes it impossible to know which record I am looking up. I have tried to change the display in a drop down to show the name rather than the ID but no luck. Is there a way around this or is it just one of those things?? Many thanks in advance

Thank you Reza! Late comment here, wanted to know...assuming the app maker needs a premium license to create tables in DV, do the end-users of a PA that's connected to DV require a premium license as well? They would need to CRUD data to the tables.

Thanks Reza for the informative video!! I had a query - There is a transformation which I have undertaken in Power BI and Power Query and have published it on Power BI web - Fabric. Ideally since its on Microsoft platform data should be able to flow to Power App. However when trying to fetch data through dataverse in Power Apps, I am not able to see the data set published on Power BI. Hi Reza, Again, great video. I am working on an app where i can relate the same tables, but instead of adding 'tasks' i need to add weekly allocated hours for each employee on projects. So each employee can see and edit their allocations for each project 12 weeks ahead or something. Do you have a video for building something like this or an idea how this could be build in a smart way? BR Jacob

Thanks. You need to grant them a security role which has privileges on the Table. Check Dataverse security documentation.

Brilliant Reza, I'm always learning from your content. Currently I'm trying to import tables, which are Stored procs and Views from SQL Server Database. I'm finding it tricky to build the relationships between the Tables once Imported. Is there a right procedure when importing tables using this method? Should I Create a table first and then populate it with the Stored Procedure data? Any hekp and guidance is greatly appreciated.

At 10:30 where you are leveraging the Accounts table, when i go to add the data, Account name & Email are find but it has the Primary Contact column as a Lookup and won't let me add data in here. Do i add another column called Primary Contact and add the data in here? Is it basically showing me that Primary Contact is the Lookup value but i need to add the values in another Primary Contact Column.
