@RezaDorrani thank you. I have a query please. I set my tables up with unique identification fields (Primary keys). When I am pulling the data into the Dropdowns, it is showing the ID field instead of the project name. Can I display the name field, or must I delete the ID field. I know you mentioned that Dataverse/power apps creates the master and foreign and builds the relationship itself, but when I did this sort of thing many years ago in access, I could create a relationship on the key field and display another field in the related table.

There are a few exceptions for the built-in email and appointment entities, which allow multiple lookup values for certain fields (e.g. 'to', 'requiredattendees'), but you can't do this for custom fields or entities. The main workaround is to create a N:N relationship between the entities, rather than a lookup (which is an N:1 relationship)"

Reza, quick follow up question if I may. When you do a lookup column it gives you the value that is in the primary name colmn in the table you are looking up. Thats ok but what if that table were a user table where names are not unique, if I give it an autonumber as the primary name column it then makes it impossible to know which record I am looking up. I have tried to change the display in a drop down to show the name rather than the ID but no luck. Is there a way around this or is it just one of those things?? Many thanks in advance

Brilliant Reza, I'm always learning from your content. Currently I'm trying to import tables, which are Stored procs and Views from SQL Server Database. I'm finding it tricky to build the relationships between the Tables once Imported. Is there a right procedure when importing tables using this method? Should I Create a table first and then populate it with the Stored Procedure data? Any hekp and guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have not tried importing so not sure about this. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.

@@RezaDorrani Will do. I'm working through your example. At 10:30 where you are leveraging the Accounts table, when i go to add the data, Account name & Email are find but it has the Primary Contact column as a Lookup and won't let me add data in here. Do i add another column called Primary Contact and add the data in here? Is it basically showing me that Primary Contact is the Lookup value but i need to add the values in another Primary Contact Column.

Hi Reza, So is this the way that companies can mimic an Access database in the cloud? I know loads of businesses who are looking for an end-to-end job management system integrated with Teams, Planner and Outlook. So staff can collaborate on the various stages of a client job, from quote to invoice. Can Power apps and Dataverse handle something that advanced (and business-critical)?
@RezaDorrani2 жыл бұрын
For sure it can. Recently there was an announcement around access database integration with Dataverse as well.

Hi Reza, Can we download the relationships from the app after creation. As we are adding new data can we export the new relations that we have added
@RezaDorrani11 ай бұрын
Download relationships? I dont think there is anything like that. You can export data to excel. Check documentation in Dataverse for that.

Thanks a lot Reza! I always learn something new & tricky from your videos. Your videos are always very helpful and are the reason that I have been able to develop a working app for my team. I have almost similar scenario for which I am developing an App but looks like I am missing something and not able to move forward. Here is the scenario : We have #50 customers and #25 Tools and multiple implementation state for each tool. For each customer we want to know the status of every tool. Example, For customer A, Tool-1 is implemented but Tool-2 is in POC state whereas Tool-3 - POC Cancelled. So this way, For each customer, we will have #25 entries (#25 tools) and every entry will capture implementation status of respective tool for that customer. That means, total 50*25 = 1250 entries which will be stored in either sharepoint or excel or dataverse for teams. I want to build a Power App using which I can retrieve data from datasource-->Filter data for each customer so on a single page I am able to see tool name & implementation status of all the tools for Customer A ---> Edit those records and then save back to the datasource. Your guidance on this will be helpful. Thanks, Ashish.

Hi Reza, Thank you for the video, it helped me getting started with the Power Apps. I am working on a simple project consisting of 2 tables having one to many relationship(1 Parent and 1 child table). The tables are in Dataverse and I have configured a screen in PowerApps with 2 forms to capture the data and 2 gallery to view the entered data. The form and gallery for the parent table are working fine. However, I am facing issue in viewing the updated records in the gallery of child table. After submitting the edit form for child table, the data gets stored in the Dataverse, but the vertical gallery of child table is not updated immediately. I need to wait for a delay of 30-40 secs and then click on other items and check back to see the updated record. Could you please provide your inputs? I appreciate your help! Regards, Nivesh

Hi Reza, I'm planning out how to build an end-to-end job management system for a client. Initially it will need to handle purchase-and-resale of IT hardware stock. I'm not sure whether to build this upon Dataverse in Teams, Dataverse, Azure SQL database or Azure Data Studio. The first use (stock resale) will be used by only one person (in one team in Teams) but if it is built out to a full Job Management system then this will have users in multiple Teams. Does this affect the choice of data storage?
@RezaDorrani2 жыл бұрын
Dataverse for Teams has limits. Dataverse is scalable. You can start with Dataverse for Teams and then scale to full Dataverse if the need arises.

Hi Reza Great Video - one little problem at 26 mins and 03 secs the combo box, cboUsers, Items property suddenly changes from Users to Filter(Users, 'User Synced' = Yes). When I change my version, I get the dreaded red wavy line under = Yes. I have tried ="Yes" and ='Yes'. What have I done wrong ? Regards Nigel
@RezaDorrani2 жыл бұрын
Reason why I did that is because the users table shows all my users (guests etc.). Yes has to come from Enum Value. User Synced (Yes) something like that.

Hi Reza, Great demo. Loved it. Though I come from SharePoint background, I can build this completely with Lists. Users can view all the data easily as well from those lists. What advantage do we get with Dataverse? To view row wise data, users would have to go to Dataverse?
Hi Reza, Do you have to share the datasource (Tables) with the users to use them (like shareing sharepoints list)? I am looking for a business solution where data can be hidden from users.

Hi Reza. Once again very useful video. I am trying Dataverse for the first time right now. One thing i don't understand, when using N:N relationship and Relate fucntion in PowerApps, where associations are stored ? i don't find them in dataverse. I can't access them either in power automate. For example Team membres for a project.

All associations are stored in the Tables itself. If you go to relationships tab for table in Dataverse, you will see them. I have no video reference on how to read them in Power Automate (its possible though).
