This series is amazing, thank you so much. Would you ever do a video on designing a circulator via copper instead SMT components?

If you have any good design paper on this same then share the link and I will surely try to come up with a video if required info is available.

Is it possible to parameterize this so one can sweep the value for the gap/spacing, alongside the conductor widths etc, like in your 'Parametric EM Sims' video (which was microstrip) but adding CPWG format?
@BhargavaAnurag9 ай бұрын
It's not easy to do for all cases hence I recommend using Microstrip fundamentals and then switching to CPWG at the end of your design for final verification.

Great series of videos, however why use Genesys in a demo for ADS? Why not use Linecalc or the controlled impedance line designer that are included in ADS?
@BhargavaAnurag2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, Its designer's choice to use whatever he/she deems useful. Reason I used Genesys is to calculate parameters for the multi-section PD design which is not possible using LineCalc or CILD. Hope this helps.

Thank you for so helpful videos! I'm trying to make low pass filter using CPWG, but what I noticed for the schematic version I can't see coplanar bend and coplanar tee joint! Do you know why ADS doesn't have those tow component? or maybe just I don't know how to find them! Also, my other question, can you generate a schematic from your CPWG layout that you just created here? I wonder to see what will be generated for "bend" on the schematic because as I said I can't find "Bend for CPWG". Thank you so much...

Hi Anurag, great video! I have a question about the ports. You've set only the CPW modes, and what about the microstrip line (ML) mode of GCPW? I expected one more pin under the center pin to simulate the ML mode.
@BhargavaAnurag3 жыл бұрын
Hi Hamilton, No, you only need to provide CPW ports i.e. G-S-G port configuration. In a good CPW design most of the fields will be between coplanar grounds and signal lines, the small field between signal line and bottom ground will be taken care by simulator directly without you having to place an explicit pins there and this is how exactly it will work in your real fabricated circuits.
@AnotherConcernedCitizen3 жыл бұрын
@@BhargavaAnurag Got it. Thank you. And the same when using the FEM solver? I mean, I just need to put G-S-G for a grounded coplanar waveguide Line?

Thanks for your tutorial. Is there a possibility to EM optimize the layout with CPW structure in this way? I mean EM-cosim optimazing some variables? Because during the optimization, ADS will always regenerate a temp layout, it won't regenerate the ground plane automatically right? What about the CPW model in ADS? Thank you very much~
@BhargavaAnurag2 жыл бұрын
I am not a big fan of EM optimization unless there is no other option. As I shown in the video there is no need to do so in most of the cases if you simply use basic transmission line theory and use idealistic transmission line for your design and then simply convert them to CPWG lines and complete your circuit design. If you still want to EM optimize then the technique shown here may not be used directly and you might need to use Nominal/Perturbed method by creating relevant elements.

Here the substrate you used was for CPWG right? So how will a substrate looks like for CPW without ground under the dielectric.
@BhargavaAnurag2 жыл бұрын
Hi Edison, You can simply remove the Cover Plate which is available by default and add a Air dielectric below your actual substrate.
@edisonkho58742 жыл бұрын
@@BhargavaAnurag Thank you for your reply. I tried that but the result which I obtained from hfss and ads was totally different. In my hfss design I don't have ground under the substrate. I did the same in ads but it give different results and I am not sure if my substrate design was correct in ads since I am a novice to ads.
