Apparently there's a secondary joint in the backpack that allows the beam sabers to tip further forward. I noticed it while building it, but thought it was just incorrect assembly. My apologies, but more articulation for you.

Thanks for showing a fully decaled fully panel lined kit, as most reviewers tend to miss this and only show us it's out of box build which doesn't really show the true visual prowess of a real grade. also big thanks for bringing out the inner frame manual thing, you're the only one so far to mention this and that helps a lot as I'm also waiting for mine to arrive. I'm also amazed at how Bandai managed to give the gramps a very "prototype-y" look next to the Hi Nu (which has a very polished look in comparison, given it's successor spirit) at 3:57, Just as it would be in the canonical sequence of events in the UC era, it's as if they've planned the gramps to look amazing without making it look more polished than the gundam it's supposed to precede a decade before, despite being produced as a model kit 3 years later in the real world. 6:26 it's insane that this new kit mount its weapons this way, not even the RG Hi Nu does this as it relies on traditional mounting holes and C-clips instead, the bazooka and rifle attachments on the arms are very well thought out, unlike the Hi Nu which often clashes with its binders or its weirdly designed wrist. The color separated eye is amazing, even more so when Bandai could print details on a decal so tiny, I hope the RG Akatsuki follows this trend, it's blue twin eye needs to be light piped like the Epyon.
@kidrobot.2 ай бұрын
showing out of the box is better since it shows what we are getting. the pictures on the box and manuals are painted and decaled to show what it could be
@mj2005gundam2 ай бұрын
I try to be as comprehensive as possible, so I'm glad I'm able to show you what the kit looks like OOB and with a bit of effort put in, as well as provide information that others will tend to miss. While I only pulled out random RGs for comparisons, that shot kinda shows you the canonical lineage of UC mechanics despite their engineering gaps IRL. Kinda magical if you think about it The ways the weapons are mounted still satisfy me a lot, as they are simple, effective, and low-risk. Granted the Hi-Nu is larger than life by design, but that goes to show the simplicity of the Gramps can work out sometimes. Those eyes are amazing, I agree. Sure, the differences between the standard stickers and lens details are imperceptible at a glance, but it's still a nice and well-executed touch for extra details to be represented.
@erlienfrommars2 ай бұрын
@@kidrobot. Speak for yourself, not everyone builds their kit that way, sure some people are too scared to meddle further with their kits once built but for people experienced enough to know how to panel line and apply decal and stuff, they want to see what it looks like in its full glory, and the photos on the box art are either in CGI, or are too small to be appreciated, the fact that MJ is showing us this build in both OOB and fully detailed with panel line and stickers attached (unlike the other gunpla reviewer) is something I'm happy about.
@kidrobot.2 ай бұрын
@@erlienfrommars lol? they(bandai) held a poll and the majority only straight build. as evident in the reviewers that don't go the extra mile like you said. so you are speaking for yourself(the minority). also yes, not everyone builds the same. but for straight builders you get what it looks like straight out of the box. for people who paint and decal, it won't be representative because people use different paints/liners/decals/etc.

I'm very impressed that the interframe looks very very sturdy and will not fall off on you which really proves how far we've come in the real great technology. Ask for the figure itself I'm just in awe at how good everything looks how everything looks very articulated and the fact that apart from some small minor parts everything is in place perfectly well. Granted some design cues are a little on the this is gonna be a you'll like it or not situation but there's no denying that the amount of poses you can do with it and it won't fall off and swap all around is definitely a good sign of a good real grade. Hell I'm giving it major props especially with the added bonus of having the traditional universal adapter points so you can slap on a High-grade backpack and go completely bonkers with whatever design you can think of making this probably the first real grade to actually give you more room to make some custom builds, at least with the backpacks. A very fantastic and solid review of the kit that kick-starts the 40th anniversary and I'm still in awe how awesome this thing looks!

I kind of wish they gave some of that waist Articulation to the force impulse spec 2 like it can move side to side. I know the suit can bend forward but not back but I guess that's how the core splendor was design compare to the RX-78-2 unit.

Quick Question: Are there any loose parts or things I should be aware of before getting this kit? I love how cool it looks, but I am just worried things will start to fall apart when I play with it. I like to play with my Gundam models like they are action figures (I'm such a kid lol).
@mj2005gundam2 ай бұрын
Like I mentioned, the only points of attention are the looser shoulder panels and if you bend the torso back wrongly. Plus, it has survived a 10-minute review (filmed over like 4-5 hours) so it's as solid as a rock even after a lot of play

I got this kit and planing to paint it. One thing I don't like is too many holes showing innerframe it makes the kit looks to have black spot all over it. I'm not sure what to do with it between paint it the same color as armor or use silver to paint those spot.
@mj2005gundam2 ай бұрын
Part of those were covered up by metallic silver stickers in the final build, so I guess that's a viable approach to go, as unifying those details with the armor might look a bit weird with the different levels between them

@mj2005gundam3 күн бұрын
If you have that experience, I'd pin the difficulty to a 5 or 6. I'd definitely recommend being awake and lucid while building it, but you shouldn't have much trouble if you have built MGs before that

Question: Can I get this as my first RG or any recommendations for a first RG?
@krishnabasavaraju29262 ай бұрын
As far as I know, I think this shouldn't be a first rg kit cause it looks pretty complicated but i havent built it yet so idk. I think you should look into rg kits that came out after 2017 since I think any kits after that year are mostly good and don't heavily rely on the ms joint system.
@mikeb41982 ай бұрын
I suggest you go first with bigger RG like Sazabi, Zeong, Nu, and Hinu.... Newer RG isnt that hard to build but it really needs your full attention...
@mj2005gundam2 ай бұрын
No. This kit is way too intricate as an entry-level RG. I'd suggest getting something like any RG Impulse, RG Wing, or RG Tallgeese to start, then work your way up to kits like the RG Sazabi and RG Hi-Nu before tackling this one.

If you assemble everything properly, it shouldn't break at all. My tip is to not force the joints during assembly. If you cannot bend them during assembly, that means they're not aligned correctly. Just take your time during the build, and enjoy the results

Can the shield be held upside down like the Origin version? Like with the handle in the hand? Or just rotated around but without being able to hold the handle?
@mj2005gundam2 ай бұрын
If you wanna just flip it upside down, you can do that. But for having the handle be upside down as well, I cannot test that as the mounting assembly seems to be buckled into the underside like the HG Destroy's backpack, so it cannot be taken out easily if at all. They seem to all look the same, so if it works, you need to make your mind up before assembly. Worst case scenario, the mounting assembly cannot fit upside down.

I mean, you're comparing apples to oranges here. the HGIBO frames are made on a tight budget for structural purposes only; while this kit can afford to have a fuller inner frame thanks to the higher budget range of an RG, making it good for visual and structural purposes.

my first ever gunpla is a 1.0 real grade rx78-2. it was on sale, presumably to make room for 2.0 kits. already having issues. the skirt joints are pretty weak/delicate alongside some other joints. the rest of the issues were user errors (broke a couple joints, was able to repair them but wouldn't be able to do posing) I don't regret getting a RG for my first Gunpla bc I wanted to learn. I have experience with building model kits bc of Warhammer 40k, so I wanted a challenge. I knew I was going to make a lot of mistakes just like when I was making my first 40k minis. going to be using what I learned for my next build!
