Akko has acknowledged that the LED this is an issue that is occurring in shipping and has informed me that they are taking measures to add additional packaging material to help prevent it going forward. What do you folks think about the 5075S? Love it? Hate it? Sound off in the comments!

First of all great video, I had the usb-c connector of my keyboard broken and I was looking for a teardown video to see if I could change it myself. Seeing that the connector isn't soldered to the board I thought I could buy one and fix it. Can you refer me to the right type of connector to buy?

How does this compare to the TH80? North facing LEDs are a bummer. Also, how are the gaskets? Seems like no one can get the gaskets right on these budget boards.

Hello and thanks for checking out the vid! I feel like the build quality is about the same between the TH80 and 5075S. However, you objectively get a MUCH better overall product value with these included ASA shine through keycaps and Akko's CS line of switches. The prebuilt TH80 leaves some things to be desired and the barebones is just okay while Cherry profile interference is almost a non-issue anymore due to keycap, switch, and modding options. And yes, the gaskets in budget boards aren't for flex or bounce but seem to be geared toward sound isolation more than anything. This also applies to the 5075S with the aluminum plate. I plan to do a rebuild with the PC plate and Poron gaskets soon so stay tuned! We shall see if we get any more fun out of it!

Thanks for the reply! Maybe you should consider also doing a budget 75 comparison, as I haven't seen a recent one that all compares the newer major hitters out in that category (IK75, PC75b, 5075, TH80, etc.). Would help the lost like me 😅 cheers!

I just ordered this and tomorrow i hope they will deliver it to my house and i asked a product consultant of Akko in their Discord Server that the New batches of Akko 5075s and 5075B side led was reinforced since it was reported to Akko multiple times

Thanks for checking out the vid. RGB looks great on black, too, from my experience on other boards. You can get the wireless version as the 5075B instead of the S from vendors like Epomaker.

I have the black version with White Wine switches. RGB does not look bad but it's not super bright, unlike the side LEDS which are bright. My Epomaker EP84 - which I sold - was brighter, I guess the height of the ASA profile vs OEM makes the latter look brighter. These keycaps feel nicer than the EP84 though. I feel a bit 'cheated' Bluetooth/WiFi aren't included but I got the board to be used at night iin a dark room so I guess I'll always have the LEDs turned on otherwise it sucks juice from the battery too fast. The Akko Cloud Driver software - would have rather had VIA/QMK, but hey... - has a cool Audio Visualizer Mode which turns the board in a 'Disco Board' when playing music, pretty fun. All in all it looks/feels like a decent boards. Maybe a bit bland but I didn't want a board which screams GaMErZ!1! lol lol I wrote half a review I see... cheers

Feels like I'm watching with my glasses off most of the time XD, I'd recommend you shoot B-rolls of the several parts of the keyboard AFTER you had your initial review, for when you're talking and the vid is out of focus, place the B-roll on top of it and increase the voice audio a Bit more, It will make content more “chefs kiss” perfecto.

The point of this channel is to go on the journey with me, not to show my editing and filmography prowess. I appreciate the feedback but until I somehow magically can monetize enough to pay a professional editor and videographer it will only slightly improve. I do have a lens in mind to help with the focus issues but it's $300 and I'm making zero off this content. Until then I will try to do better with the manual focus. Also, keep in mind that this is 1080p content and only rendered at 4k for biterate purposes so if you're not watching on a phone or a 1080p screen and you're doing Fullscreen it will look a bit fuzzy. Thank you for your insights, though, and I'm looking forward to the improvements over time.

Thanks for checking out the video! There are limitations to what can be remapped and I don't see a way to program each key's RGB.

I really look forward to a video from you with a modification of this keyboard. It will be interesting to see how it sounds on a PC plate, and also, I would like to look at other modifications that can be issued here. What about Poron gaskets? Are you planning a video with them?

Yes, you can purchase the 5075B which has Bluetooth from vendors like Epomaker. Akko has stated they will not be carrying it directly and only the 5075S will be available from their EU and Int'l stores.

I really wanna buy this keyboard and maybe upgrade some things like switches or keycaps later, but im kinda scared of these side-glow LED's falling off, you said many times in comment section that akko decided to include better packaging although im still afraid that when im going to open up the keyboard i will still break them :/

Its a risk you take with any product. I mean it has a warranty and Akko will take care of it if you have a problem. However, I was assured that the packaging has been fixed to account for it. If you do decide to get one let us know how it came out!

5075 is super solid all around. While it doesn't offer QMK/VIA it has overall better features in my opinion. The V1 is still a great choice for a board but stock for stock the 5075 hands down feels and sounds better even though you're losing QMK. The Akko Cloud Driver has evolved a ton and is still super solid if you don't mind having the extra piece of software.

The sound test you hear in the video are unlubed and untuned. They're actually quite nice, especially if you consider that they are plate mount. I have other Akko boards and their stock stabs tune up nicely.

One of the modes is solid and then you will have to toggle through the colors. Alternatively you can set it in the Akko Cloud Driver.

Akko Cherry keycaps, yes. Others would depend on the switch used (you would need long pole stem and not 100% guaranteed) and the manufacturer's tolerances. You can make them work with any switch with the paper mod or 3D printed inserts for the keycaps.

There is. You have to cycle through modes to get to solid rainbow. Then you cycle through the colors. Check the manual on the Akko site.

5075 is overall a better board with its gasket mounting and plate options but the PC75B plus has more switch and keycap options. Either one would be amazing value so you just pick what would provide the best aesthetics and switch preference for you or get the 5075 if you need/want gasket and plate options.

I have spoken with Akko directly and was informed this was with a specific batch. They have since added additional packing material to prevent this going forward and have been excellent in helping me resolve it. I would still do it if you like the board.
