I took my wallet to a Tesla showroom to buy a Model Y....... after the test-drive, I returned to the Nissan showroom and bought the ARIYA. After 10 months of driving the ARIYA, I'm so glad I changed my mind. This is the best vehicle I've ever owned in 50 years of buying and driving cars....... Thanks for your presentation.

What do you like about it over a Model Y?
@rossdonald50269 ай бұрын
In no particular order........ 1 Design inside, easy on the eye and practical. 2 Central console position customisable. 3 Hidden compartment is invaluable. 4 Panoramic roof opens and is customisable. 5 Info Screen placement is safer and integrated into dashboard, not to mention the heads up display which is stunning. 6 Feels less claustrophobic than 'Y'. 7 Less expensive to insure. 8 Better colour selection available. 9 Face to face dealership network for after sales in every city. 10 Less likely to be scratched/keyed deliberately. 11 Whilst driving or passenger, it feels like an expensive vehicle. @@Pooburr

Lots of negative comments from tesla owners. I wonder why? I owned a Tesla for 3 years. During the first year I had it at the workshop for warranty problems no less than 3 times. Second year, they had to come and fix it with their mobile car repair thing. I sold it and got the ariya. No regrets. Ariya drives so much quiter, so much better quality, much better driving experience. One funny thing with teslas is that if you look for misaligned plates, doors or trunks, you will almost always find it. Such is the quality of Tesla. Oh, by the way, a year of ariya ownership - 0 workshop visits, 0 warranty issues. I can of course understand that some people need the larger trunk space in the MY and if you do loads of road trips, the faster DC charging will save you 15 minutes here and there.

I just bought one, slightly more upgraded model. I think your video is spot on. I think it's great for the price. I wanted roominess, quietness, and comfort -- so this was the right choice for me. I have the smaller horsepower model - plenty quick, very responsive, but I wasn't really trying to race my buddy's Rivian when I chose this.

He is NOT subjective. Lots of FALSE information provided, things that don't even make sense such as: How is not having a frunk increase the interior space? That makes no logical sense. All EV's that have a frunk have the same things under the frunk area as the Ariya. You stated that Nissan put the AC unit in the front so to give you more interior space??? WHAT??? Wow. People make up anything these days.... While the Ariya and Model Y are both classified as compact electric SUVs, they differ in size. The Model Y has a wheelbase that’s 113.8 inches long, is 187 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 63.9 inches tall. In comparison, the Ariya has a wheelbase that’s 4.5 inches shorter, is five inches shorter in length, roughly one inch shorter in width, and is 1.5 inches taller. From CarsDirect: With its larger body, the Model Y shines as the better choice for maximum cargo space. The Model Y offers up to 30.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a total of 76.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. The smaller Ariya doesn’t have the same cargo capacity. It offers up to 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a total of 59.7 cubic feet of cargo space. The Ariya has one of the smaller cargo areas in the class. From InsideEV: The $58,950 Ariya Platinum+ AWD has an estimated range of just 265 miles compared to the $58,990 Model Y Long Range's 330-mile range. Nissan estimates the front-wheel-drive Ariya will have up to 300 miles of range. So if you are FAIRLY comparing vehicles, compare the range of the the AWD Dual Motor Model Y Long Range of 330 miles vs the AWD Ariya that has 65 miles LESS range.... Also the Warranty that Nissan gives is way behind Tesla. Why make stuff up? If you are comparing FAIRLY, then be FAIR.... Disingenuous reporting... There's NO need to do that. It tarnishes your reputation. I enjoy watching your video's, but now I have to fact check everything you say.

@@TeufelHundI've owned a Tesla Y for 3 years now and I can tell you that the 330 miles range is nowhere close to reality. The max range is only a consideration for road trips, mostly on highways. I've burnt through 50% of the Tesla Y battery charge in 100 miles of driving. The 300 number looks nice on the monitor but it is not representative of the actual range.

I test drove the Model Y at Long Beach Tesla, but I didn't like the interior design and found the ride harsh. I then stopped by Cerritos Nissan and test drove the Ariya, which sold me on the spot. Model Y are everywhere and wanted something different. I picked the Ariya Platinum+ because of its luxurious interior and a smooth ride, like Lexus. The suspension is excellent, making bumps barely noticeable, and it's very quiet. The seats are super comfortable with Napa leather, and the infotainment dash design is similar to BMW or Mercedes. Although it doesn't have Tesla's power, I don't need a lot of speed, and the torque is more than enough for me. It has 389 hp and 412 lb-ft or torque. Plus, the ProPilot 2.0 feature is great, allowing the car to park itself. The lease deal is also fantastic at just $370 (including tax 9.5%) a month with no money down as in zero drive off.

We had an EV Fair in my city and I got to test this vehicle out. I love JDM and was pleasantly surprised with this Nissan. There’s an option where there’s a camera in front of the steering wheel and as long as you’re looking at the road, it drives itself. Pretty crazy on the interstate. I tested this, the Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model 3, X and Y, the F-150 Lightning, Cadillac Lyriq, BMW iX and the Porsche Taycan GTS. Crazy how far along EV’s have came. I love that torque. Just straight acceleration with no gear changes. Something everyone should experience. All these EV’s were crazy fast. Tbh, the Tesla looked pretty bland compared to the other EV’s but they do have a wide network and their app is far superior. If only getting maintenance done on a Tesla is more efficient with less wait times for service, and the panel gaps, I might consider. I’ll wait a little longer to see how other automakers catch up to Tesla.

Just rented one of these for 3 days through Turo for a trip to Vermont and was able to compare it to my MYP. Have to say I was very unimpressed. After initially thinking there were some very innovative solutions in the interior, and the cooled seats were nice to have again after my Macan turbo, it quickly lost points with silliness. The touch interfaces required multiple “touches”, the moving center console is a gimmick that you use once, the stereo is crap, the CarPlay froze multiple times, the actual range was barely 180-200 miles, the rear view mirror camera nearly gave me vertigo, for nearly 400hp it did not feel fast at all (although I may be spoiled since I have an MYP and a 911). Positives were that the seats were very comfortable, the displays were crisp and beautiful, it was VERY quiet inside and the ride was fantastic.

Your review was great. You hit most of the highlights. The nighttime driving is great, very bright. We have had the top of the line Ariya since March 23. It drives really nice but we really have to get used to it of course. It looks like they have moved the rearview camera up. Ours is just above the license plate. Much better in its new location. I found that the sunroof cover did very little to protect from heat. I hope they fix that in the future. I have to say, when buying a car I look at the service aspect of a car as 50% of the car. Just keep the dealerships in mind, ask to see the service areas and the service writer areas. Our is very disappointing.

I went to check out the model Y before I got this and happy I chose the Nissan. Me and my wife agreed the Model Y was so boring looking. No buttons, no contrast colors or anything special. Just a big screen and that’s it. I got mine in a great deal. It was used as a corporate car by a Nissan dealership with 6900 miles from 2023. It has the upgraded interior but no sun roof. It is really spacious inside and looks big on the outside and bigger than the model Y from the inside. I really don’t care any range because for one anywhere you go ANY ev will tell you when you need to charge so it’s fake if you hear about someone getting stuck in the middle of no where because an ev will let anyone know when they are running low as they enter their destination, but second I have a level 2 charger at home so I can charge at home anytime and set it and forget it

The main issue that I have with the Ariya is no roof rails. You will never talk me into mounting crossbars in the door jams and watch the paint wear from constant movement. I would not trust that my kayaks to be safe and secure on a long trip. I also was not impressed with the regenerative braking or one pedal. However, in all fairness, I haven't found any manufacturer's regen system like the Genesis EVs. The Ariya is a great looking vehicle. But without roof rails, I can't call it an utility vehicle.

the E-pedel does does bring you to a stop but not Quickly. Fantastic in traffic. It you touch the brake pedal it turns off at very slow speeds like around 15kmh. Don't touch brake will come to a stop on its own. If you come in to a 30kmh corner at 100kmh 60mph take foot off gas 50mtrs from corner with E pedel on you will need to push the gas a little to speed up a little as you will go around the corner slower than you wanted too. With cruise control turned on the car will speed up and even slow down to a stop when following traffic. Will take off again when car in front takes off. If you have you cruise control speed set at 120kmh in a 50 kmh zone. The car in front takes off as fast as it will go, you will take off a lot faster, chase it down and brake hard to stop behind it lol. If set at speed limit will be nice and gentle. I not Driven a Nissan Ariya. The Nissan ZE1 Leaf will do this.

For us far-sighted people, the video rear view mirror is an almost literal pain because the focal point is so close. When you look in an actual mirror, you're not actually focusing on the mirror itself, you're focusing on what the mirror is looking at, usually the car behind you. But when you're looking at that same car in the video mirror, your eyes have to focus on something only eighteen inches away. For us older folks who don't have great focal length flexibility anymore, this is an irritant when our eyes have to go back and forth from relatively distant objects through the windshield, then the traffic behind which requires a close focus. At least with the Nissan, you can choose which you like.

We're in the market for our first EV. I rode my coworkers Model Y and I thought it was interesting. After having a long discussion with my wife, she has let me know we're not considering Tesla. 😅 Our little cash purchase is not gonna make or break their bank but we can't stand Musk and his crazy butt. We havent even used X since he took over.

I disagree with the more space than mode y comment - it’s just such a disappointing product honestly- they’ve had so much time to do it right and it sucks - I test drove it and was not impressed at all. The ac is weak and drive performance is lack luster. For the base model price I’d much rather a standard range model y

In my review of this EV, I would not say it's junk, but I would also say it's nearly dead last when compared to Hyundai/Kia, Ford, Cadilac and VW models. I also found the Nissan Ariya HORRIBLE with its efficiency. I only drove the FWD version, so cannot speak to its speed, but it's just a bit faster than a Bolt. IMHO there's no comparison to a Tesla Model Y on almost every metric except for the fact that this has a binnacle display and physical buttons to push. Also, if an overly engineered secret storage cubby does it for you, then this is your vehicle. Yes, I'm a Tesla owner, but have driven a better EV product from just about every other manufacturer. I expected more from the Nissan being that they were the first to market with a mass-produced EV, the Leaf. I was so let down. :( I'm also a huge Nissan fan and LOVE the new "Z"!

The Model Y just keeps getting better and I know that it's not for everyone (until they live with it) but the simplicity of the Tesla is my favorite. I don't need buttons or knobs or dials or clicky things to drive. the Tesla provides a level of calm.

They did not do it for the space in the car. if you take a close look, Nissan has not yet figure out/ implemented a robust cooling/heating/HVAC system. There are bottles everywhere in the engine compartment area.

As a LEAF owner, I wanted perspective from that, not from a Tesla owner comparison. Why would anyone with a Tesla consider a Nissan, its always the other way around, just like Prius replaced by a Tesla, never the other direction. I wanted to know about the GOM, but I guess I have to find another Ariya review video.

The Ariya is actually the best Japanese EV so far! Suzuki, Honda and Mazda suck a lot more at EVs than Nissan. Toyota also sucks a lot, but if they hold their promise of 1.5 mio EVs by 2026, they will maybe survive.

They have an engineering excuse for the frunk, but what about the trunk? Why can’t they have real usable space under the trunk? What did they replace the gas tank with? Also, the first few minutes of the video were very rough… I was getting motion sickness with your camera motion. Most of your videos are great, but you’ve had a few that have been a bit too quick for my poor brain.

How is not having a frunk increase the interior space?

This Nissan Ariya Evolve+ Eforce All Wheel Drive in Boulder Grey Pearl / Black Diamond Peral for $54,000 is, undoubtedly, junk. The car is inferior in every possible way to a Tesla and the only reason why someone would buy this is if they are sick of seeing Teslas everywhere or want to stick it to billionaire Elon Musk with their $50k car purchase facilitated by a bank loan at 8% interest rate. Both of which are reasons that I foresee some people will make but these people have probably made far worse decisions in life and will continue to do so in the future. Not to mention, I find it absolutely astonishing that a company like Nissan will manufacture this colossal waste of a car (not surprising) but has the audacity to price it in the luxury segment.
