Some other points to mention: - It has self healing clearcoat, borrowed from Infinity as well - It has proper pinch sensors on the power liftgate, so will not break your finger - Underbody lighting is a dealer installed option and yes, the install you showed is not the worst I've seen :) - It has double pane glass everywhere - Rear seats recline a bit, similar to xtrail - With FWD model without subwoofer you have huge storage and can fit full size spare under floor - It uses asynchronyous motors similar to leaf (have pros and cons) - The trim you showed also has HUD, matrix headlights, heated and cooled seats, camera based rear view mirror and some other gimmicks - Other markets get 22kW onboard charger - Brackets under the hood are a part of impact absorbtion system, as well as the whole HVAC system that was moved from the passenger compartment (there is a nice document from Nissan describing their design choices)

Your final statement about Tesla having the advanced thermals but cheap/poor assembly is spot on. One family member dumped his Model Y with widening panel gaps, and ceiling falling apart behind the glass panel. A friend of mine, against my recommendations, bought the new Model 3. He goes to roll down the window and it comes out of the tracks. Tesla tech said it was missing multiple parts and screws, was barely hanging on.
@mohammadkamran5862Күн бұрын
Tesla drivetrain, packaging, thermal management, and software can't be beat. you know the things that make sure your vehicle performs well. I do agree Tesla quality can be better. but from what i've seen they're improving all the time. my 2024 Model Y is very well put together, every material on the interior is soft touch, it has dual pane glass on all the windows. noise levels are good car is quiet. and It is extremely quick while having more range than the Ariya. Tesla is still in their early years relative to all these Automakers, so they're doing pretty good with quality overall. Let's face it. If it wasn't for Tesla taking the risk, and pushing the boundaries for EVs, we wouldn't even have EVs today. because every other Automaker does not want to take risks. After Tesla every other automaker jumped in and is still trying to play catch up to Tesla in terms of EV technology and the charging network that Tesla built which made it viable for people to travel long distances.
@volvo09Күн бұрын
It's amazing seeing pictures of Teslas delivered to customers with things like loose or missing bolts, even in places like the suspension and doors! Heck one was even delivered to a customer without brake pads on a rear caliper if I recall 😂 Tesla should have refined their vehicle assembly more, rather than wasting valuable resources on the Cybertruck which by its design will never sell in large numbers.

I did a long trip from NNJ to San Diego in last summer and it was a trouble free smooth trip. No exhaustion. 80% of the trip was handled by ProPilot 2 on highways. I reset the trip meter at the start of the trip and when I reached San Diego, it showed 3.4 miles which equates to 295 miles range. Ariya's official EPA for platinum edition is only 267 miles and my car is already 1 year old at the time of the trip. I rode mostly at 65mph, but occasionally at 70 to 80 mph.

I absolutely love the idea of having an evaporator and a condenser under the dash. With a conventional car, very often I would run the heat and the air conditioner together on a cold wet day. In that manner I would have a warm dry cabin. If you only have one either an evaporator or a condenser working you cannot do that. It can be very uncomfortable and it is a major disadvantage of most electric vehicles. Besides the fact that they are electric vehicle

I feel the enthusiasm, positivity and eagerness when you have a Toyota. Your attitude is next level. But any other car brand, for example this Ariya review. From the very beginning you have very unsatisfied attitude as why Nissan or any other company makes cars. Why they named it Ariya? Why not RAV4? It should only be Toyota. Just my humble opinion. My spouse and I have a '23 ARIYA e4orce Engage+ (2nd highest Trim) and love it. We tested the Tesla, ID.4, and Ioniq 5 (a close second) and chose this with no regrets (except maybe wait for the price drop that happened 3 months after we bought it.) Still though, we are very happy with this car as this was also our first fully electric car. (We previously had a CMAX Energi (Plugin Hybrid) and still have a CRV Hybrid, but this car definitely has luxury car feel when driving or riding in it. Super nice all around!!!!!!
@MugatuJag22 сағат бұрын
I'm currently driving my parents and I have been driving Tesla's for a decade, I really like the Ariya, way quieter and more luxurious then most if not all tesla's, even though my 2022 Model S is very nice and the quality and fit and finished is so improved. I just don't understand how they could not make the cameras higher quality, I mean camera lenses are so cheap, quality ones. The rear view camera for the mirror is too small and poor quality, and the 360 camera is just so poor. Relative to other cars even base model Kia's. Also the instrument cluster is higher quality than the infotainment screen, the infotainment screen looks good most of the time but there is just some blurriness to it that detracts from how nice the car actually is it's very odd that they neglected these crucial and important things. Perhaps they didn't need the motorized tray table and they could have put like 4K cameras. The camera quality and then the screen reminds me of my 2011 Infiniti it's like almost the same. Also the ride is a bit busy for me and hard to keep straight. Minor gripes, also they have 11,000 Mi and the front wheels are wearing really bad. These are minor gripes but they really should have fixed them by now. You can get a brand new 2024 evolve plus for 31k here in SoCal.

What made you choose the Nissan over the Ioniq 5? We went Ioniq, and were between Model Y, Mach E.
@MugatuJag21 сағат бұрын
@joshlotz2209 I'm always curious as to that as well, I presume that you chose the Ioniq because you can charge at home, you were sick of seeing all the Teslas on the road, and the one main screen for everything while you get used to it it sucks to begin with... or you just hate Elon Musk witch seems to be one of the common reasons these days the people don't want to buy a Tesla LMAO
@joshlotz220920 сағат бұрын
@@MugatuJagdefinitely nailed some of reasons for avoiding the Tesla, one screen and just overall build quality were the biggest reasons. Sitting in the Ioniq felt like it was a segment above the Tesla. Used Ioniqs also were at a better price point than the Mach E, and we just preferred the looks and interior feel. We ended up buying a used Limited, and love all the tech.
@MugatuJag20 сағат бұрын
@joshlotz2209 I totally get that, I've been driving the Nissan for about a week, I still have my Tesla but mine is a refresh first generation model 3, the Nissan is much quieter, even though the double glazed windows on the model 3 helped a lot but it doesn't matter the amount of glazing, frameless Windows suck, every model 3 I've ever had has had wind issues like wind noise because the wheels I'm sorry the windows never seal correctly. Same with my BMW. I will say though that my ex just bought a model 3, I helped him and I picked it out for him a brand new 2025 and it is perfect, the build quality and the paint quality and consistency of color is better than my bmw, it's quiet the panel gaps are perfect. But the panel gaps on my 2023 are embarrassing in some areas, I mean we're talking you can almost put your hand in there

AMD - I was really taken by the Ariya when I first saw pics and then again seeing them in person. Like you said, the appearance, materials and build are all so well done. But then the drive train isn’t at the same level. Mainly efficiency. The large frontal area is part of that problem. But then Nissan went out with a 7.4kWh AC charger when nearly everyone else is >=9.6 kWh, and DC charging is low-to-mid pack, especially for the larger battery pack. Upside is the charge curve is relatively flat so even though it doesn’t have a high max charge rate, Ariya stays at higher charge rates for a larger part of its charge curve and the average DCFC rate is OK. Very nice vehicle, just saddled with a GEN1 drivetrain. Tesla didn’t get to excellence overnight. Heat pump first showed on Model Y (5th vehicle!), some 8 years after debut of early Model S’s. Tesla’s efficiency wasn’t stellar until Model 3, their 4th vehicle. Excellence requires persistence!

Driver distraction systems: My vehicle does not have a dedicated driver monitor, but it does remind drivers to keep their hands on the wheel. A gas car for gas at $4.20/gal would be about 5.657 gallons and 200 miles over 5.657 gallons = 36.36 mpg, i.e. a car with 36.4mpg would appear to be less cost to "fuel up". Ariya’s battery thermal management system may be rudimentary, in part b/c Leaf had NO active thermal management for the battery. It’s a 1st GEN design, and almost all 1st GEN long range EVs seem to use resistive heat AT LEAST for the battery; many for cabin heat as well. Due to about 2 years delays due to $$ issues in Nissan and COVID-induced supply issues, Ariya’s design is about 2 years older than expected for its debut date. And it shows, in terms of integration, under the hood.

I'll be glad when people stop going into reviewing Nissan products expecting the worst. Not claiming they're perfect, but they have dramatically improved their products in the last few years. But I'll give it to you, at least you gave credit where it was due... the guy over at Out of Spec reviews tried to claim this had the cheapest interior out of this, an ID.4 and a Model Y. Pretty laughable. Also, it was a deliberate decision to sacrifice a frunk and push everything under the hood. This increases passenger space, which is why there's more open space up front.

So far reviews I've seen, the V6 and a few other things (quietness and better ride are 2) is really missed. Even the turbo 4 fuel mileage is not really cutting it I've heard. I think they should have kept the V6 (or their NA 2.5) and added a hybrid with an eCVT like Toyota's. Still, hope they do well with it. This Ariya profile reminds me of the last Murano especially towards the rear. Good looker.

It was real surprise for silly BMW M240i to see that he is barely staying even with an EV at the stop light. A Cayman was surprised when I was able to close in on him on the freeway clover leaf interchange even with that relatively soft suspension the Ariya is spec-ed with. The Platinum+ is not a good value, because you need to pay more, and it is adds even more weight so you end up with a slower car and worse range, like you do not need that silly brand lighting that is a clear add-on for more weight. The Evolve+ has the 87(91)Kwh battery, the range is fine and I am in Minnesota and winter range is still ok. The cold range reduction is on par with the other EVs, and the car heats up quick in the cold too. The DCFC 130Kw peak charging does not adequately describe the area under the curve, and it actually charges from 20% to 80% in 35 minutes and in the winter you can control when you warm up the battery to get at that charging time.

Had one of the ariya tail me near sf bay area highway. I just had to accelerate on one of the curves and for being an ev, it was so wallowing and they kinda backed off. Not sure if you see that boatiness in the drive. Would be interesting to know.

The GM based Honda Prologue/Acura ZDX will be replaced by a version of this as soon as Honda can get out of its contract with GM. How does this compare with the GM based EVs?

Should You Buy The Latest Nissan ARIYA? The short answer = no Such a shame, Nissan was one of the leaders in mass producing affordable electric vehicles with Nissan Leafs... now it's an industry bottom of the barrel player in the EV Space. Mismanagement at its finest

Isn't the Leaf still the cheapest "short distance" EV you can buy, maybe besides the Bolt? If I got a crazy deal on a Leaf I'd buy one and just use it as a commuter and plan on mainly charging it by the 120v socket to keep the battery happy
