Good advice to check with your MD, if you have a pacemaker or other medical devices before using any electronic device. You don't play with Mr Electricity. Once apon a time in working in an electrical box, my pliers slipped hit a live wire and melted a notch in my pliers. Fortunately , I wasn't hurt. Bill and Janet from California

A few years ago I bought a Fridge magnet from a wild life cafe in one of my local parks. It came with a warning not to get the strong magnet near to pace makers. If this warning is on a Beaver fridge magnet then I would take care if I had any implants.

I do get the warnings, which is why we asked and spoke about it

As an electrical designer, protection from shocks is an important issue in my life, the ability for electricity to harm or kill, is the power involved (in kilo Joules) and the duration. Any voltage below 50VDC or 30VAC is safe, however, above these values can produce produce danger. It is accepted that current below 10mA is also safe and at 30mA, it may be harmful but not lethal, (hence we generally fit 30mA RCD's to British circuits). However, it is also known that those with a weak heart (weather unknown or if already been fitted with a pacemaker) may succumb to ill effects below these figures. In the case of static charges, they are usually a vey high voltage, but extremely low current and therefore should not be detrimental to the heart, those generated from vehicles, shuffling on carpet and static applicators fit in to this category. However as mentioned above, those with a weak heart, being (not average) may well suffer differently to a static shock, so should take precautions. It is not recorded that a static charge has ever killed (a human) someone, but studies have shown that dogs with pacemakers have actually died when shocked with a static charge. The following gives a good insight. creativeloafing.com/content-197734-the-straight-dope---can-static-electricity-kill. It is also known that triboelectric signals (static discharges) may account for mysterious over-sensing by unipolar pacemakers. So if you wear a pacemaker or have known heart weakness issues, steer clear of static applicators. For those who do not have a pacemaker and have not been diagnosed with a weak heart, you takes your chances!

There are different types of Pacemakers/implants. I have one - mine maintains a minimum heart rate of about 58bpm. With each implant you get a registration card, regular checks by a clinical team and, usually a monitoring system. Yes, we're generally warned to stay distant from induction currents / magnetic fields but if we want to query specific devices we can ask the team. The advice is often just 'don't get it too close to the implant' (keep at arms length or waist level) With some devices a strong magnet stops the device from working - and some devices then emit a high pitched alarm to advise this. (Mine doesn't - I've been scanned in a MRI with it). I was told that most devices will simply reset once the problem is removed. Generally - as regards any shock: there are two contact points, one where the current enters the body and one where it leaves it. the shock travels between those two points by the path of least resistance, usually internally. If you have surface burns at those points, there will be associated burns all along that path. If anyone's that worried, get some insulated work gloves and wear them! Hope that helps :) Mike Disclaimer: This is not medical advice! Ask your clinicians.

back in the day my oldman worked installing electric substations and big transformers all round europe, he's got plenty of stories of people being blown 20/30 feet into the air, one in particular when they were electrifiying the underground in london of a fella that threw a open dc switch which took most of his hand off when it arked, iv'e seen a electrician blown across a plant room whilst working in a 3 phase 400v ac cabnet, even when i was 11 or 12 ish my mate had a plug with no back on it, he tried to uplug it got a shock and flew across his bedroom out the door, that one made me laugh alot though🤣, the thing with electrickery is be very careful cos you don't see it til it bites🧐

As far as letting you both know of any errors you make, we just don't have the time to write them all down! SO we take it easy on you and laugh from the safety of our own rooms. Woah betide you if you ever did a show in front of a live audience lol 😆Brilliant stuff guys. This live had me giggling all the way through 😋 Cya both tonight on the live. Try this; www.emftesting.net/will-static-electricity-affect-my-pacemaker/ As an example, Bernie of crossway's point was told by his nurse not to use the machine... he went ahead anyway. Clinical fogging machines use static charge, my wife's colleague has a pacemaker and was told under no circumstances use the machine... that's good enough for me.
