Such a great looking car, and if it wasnt for the cost issue we've talked about before with RGT in the uk, id be seriously interested in one of these. Im also a fan of HH motors, and have 3 Crawlmaster Pro motors running in my trx4, FTX Mauler (RGT Rockhammer), and now, my new to me, Carisma Sca1e Coyote. The TRX has a Hobbywing 1080, and the others, ISDT ESC 70/90, and they are all silky smooth. Im impressed with the ISDT, now ive got the Bluetooth modules sorted. Another honest and considered review, as usual. 👍🏻 Im looking forward to see what mods you do to it. 👍🏻

I take it he didn't like it? Though he's an FTX-sponsored guy, isn't he? Doesn't mean he can't like it but that does make it harder to criticise a vehicle (I try to maintain a balance here, though rlaarlo in particular has copped a bit of a beating on this channel, despite my admiration and enjoyment of their cars!). It can be a difficult position to be in, balancing observations with sponsorships. It can be done with integrity, but it takes some measure of understanding from the sponsor!

@@RCTNT I can't remember the video now, but I'm fairly certain he was praising it quite thoroughly. He says in the intro he usually waits for the FTX release, but didn't wait this time and ordered the RGT off AliExpress. Clarity is important to me. In the Airsoft world 99% of youtube 'reviews' are just paid promotions which don't actually review anything.

The first minute say it all about your honesty and your way of looking at the hobby and the products you test. Kudos for that! Keep it real. Concerning the truck, I like the pragmatic approach on that model. but the electronics provided with it seems to make the experience frustrating. It would be good if they could provide it as a roller chassis + body.

What a GREAT LOOKING rig that is! Like its bigger brother, it's just gorgeous! Even though it didn't complete any actual problems, its driving wasn't as bad as I initially expected. I think the wet rock/tires also hurt it, especially on the first three problems. I'd definitely get it if the body was a hardbody, as a hardcore scaler that I am. Still, I'm really glad this product exists, as a huge LC70 fan. Can't wait for the upgrade series this lil' guy`s begging for! Thanks for the great review, as always, Craig!

If you have a set of Axial Ripsaws on hand, those are 4.3" diameter. They are a great height for portal rigs and may provide better grip for this little guy. I'm impressed it was able to do anything on the problems with that big, beautiful bumper :) . It's too bad the 2in1 seems to be a bit lackluster after the other "BS" combo worked well in the FMS. I definitely push the Fusion SE for it's low speed control and low cost prowess, but I agree brushed combos are fantastic and some designs dictate a 540 length can (or less). The other guy I watch has a pre-release Injora ESC that's supposed to be coming out at $29 US. You take that and a 35T 3 slot and you'd have a really economical, controllable setup. I'd bet a better esc would give you even better control and brake, but you'd need the non-esc version of that Rx to keep with the transmitter so we're faced with the downside of the RTR 2in1

I don’t suppose you could do a head to head of the Intruder and the 136100v2. And maybe the V1. I really like the Suzuki to the extent I have 2 one that’s mostly for looks and the other I tried to make into a better crawler. I got some aluminum Beadlocks and added the FTX heavy clamp rings up front to add weight down low and forward. I switched the ESC to a HW 1080, switched the tires to Hyrax and trimmed the fenders to accommodate them, I removed the foam from the spare tire and drilled holes in the internal headlock clamp ring and removed weight from the rear tire mounting plate to lighten the back up further and made a revised bumper from the ford bronco on the same chassis to increase the approach angle. It’s not lethal but it’s a lot more capable of crawling than the stock version. It would be interesting to see a face off against the intruder and the 136100 V2 after you have done phase one mods to both

Good review Craig! Totally agree on not jumping on brushless whenever possible. I Love my RGT Rescuer and they nailed it with this beautiful body with all the extras included - it’s a trail-crawler😉 The chassis looks very good too - And of few, I like lighter weight oil in the shocks - this again is more of a trail-crawler. Good radio, agree on trying a Holmes. Still original motor in my Rescuer, but there’s a Crawlmaster waiting - Two speeds makes motor choice easier, and I tend to like the characteristics of a brushed motor more. I’m changing a Fusion SE for a brushed in another scale two-speed now (D1RC Defender) the brushless are too jumpy to my taste. Would like to see how a Holmes would change the driving feeling 😊
@RCTNT7 ай бұрын
Thanks Though this car is one instance where brushless could really help. It would deliver the missing top end and improve the low end. It's an unfortunate power combo on the car in stock form, especially without a second speed.
@Sol-hl2rj7 ай бұрын
@@RCTNT Yes, it’s a little disappointing that RGT didn’t equip it with 2-speed. It makes the motor/ESC choices much more appealing. That’s the only thing holding me back on this one - I thought this was going to be my second RGT - but I might get another Rescuer.. setting it up a little different than my existing one, I really like the Rescuer, but the ESC is now a HW 1080.. and it’s transformed.

I’m surprised it didn’t do better on the 6 problems, it seems to have better features than even shorter wheelbase 136100v2 which was good for smiles per miles value but found the 6 challenges hard going. I think it managed to complete 2 of them. The intruder has a low forward mounted motor , a longer wheelbase, is also a bit wider so it has the ingredients to do better on the 6 problems. It seems the scale interior and the roof rack added enough weight up high to really hurt its stock performance.
@RCTNT6 ай бұрын
That pretty much sums up the head to head in stock form at least. The upgrades you've done sound very good. The weakness of the 136100 is the front cvds. They break. 8 think the Intruder is better, but really needs that weight down low to help offset the body. It's potential is higher than the cheaper models, but you've really gotta spend the money to get it there.

I have noticed that you RC professionals review everything they send you using the same parameters over and over again. You have gotten into a mental loop that you can't get out of because you do it automatically, so you don't ask yourself the right questions depending on the vehicle you are testing. This rc car is clearly a trail model, geared toward acceptable realism because of the beautiful bodywork, the attention to detail such as the ladder on the rear, roof rack, full lights, etc. I look at the video and here is a test that makes no sense in my opinion. The 6 obstacles have a very relative importance for this rc model. In the perspective of realism (clearly sought in this rc model) those obstacles are ridiculous, absurd, unreal. A ridiculous test that obviously ridicules a vehicle NOT created for it. On the finale, as if that were not enough, here is the usual “change the tires, add weight, change the electronics, change the engine, etc. etc. If I want crawler performance I buy a crawler. I don't spend money on a trail car and then turn it into a crawler. Similarly, if I want a trail car, I don't worry about crawler performance, because I prefer realism. Don't you think? Every vehicle has its own characteristics and is created and designed to meet different types of customers. If you don't consider the purposes, the inherent characteristics. the type of clientele the company is catering to, you are just throwing everything into one big cauldron. Without any distinction, depersonalizing the different purposes of different products. Why review a trail product as if it were a crawler? It doesn't make sense. Please get out of this mind loop, or all reviews will be the same as all others. Mere mindless repetition that trivializes and puts everything on the same level. I hope this message of mine will be read in the right light. Mine is meant to be constructive criticism. And I add that I am writing it to you because you are one of those I appreciate the most. So please think about it. Distinguish yourself from the crowd and use the intellectual honesty to understand what is in front of you and tailor your reviews to the different characteristics of different vehicles. Thank you

I think maybe you're missing a bit of context or are unfamiliar with what Craig has created on this channel throughout a few years of dedicated testing. It's a point of reference that is more or less consistent with all the rigs he's tested. Being them better or worse at it. This is a great tool to measure performance for those interested in it. There's no real value in a drive in the woods that tells me nothing ANY trail truck or crawler could do. Yes, it doesn't make much sense to individually test this as a pure crawler, but as explained by him before, during and after the problems this is a truck that won't do great on the problems because of its scale details and wheelbase. But this will give us all a reference on its potential once you upgrade it. Actually, if you read through your own review, which seemed to lack any proper listening to the full review, your points are overstated and repeated for no particular reason other than yelling at the clouds. If there's something that makes this channel special is how comprehensive the reviews are, from the detailed overview and first impressions, to the performance testing and if we get lucky, even upgraded series of them. No channel that I know of does all of these, let alone at this level of informative, concise, unbiased, passionate, and entertaining reviewing. So maybe, have a drink, sit, relax, and watch it again (or maybe try some other day) and think about watching it with fresh eyes for what Craig is trying to convey here? Just for your own benefit.

Thanks, I took your comment in the right light. Even if I disagree with some of it, I always appreciate this kind of effort, thank you for taking the time. However, you've caught the one video where I do say the "standard" mods, because for a crawler, I think it does actually need it! You may notice I'm careful to usually not recommend such things. I go out of my way on this aspect. This car is pretty. But it's going to be a poor trail rig with the default power combo and gearing. It's very slow and reverse is worse again. To address this, one could slap a Fusion in and call it a day. But I spent the time considering brushed motor options that are compatible with the stock esc. Is this not an intellectually honest approach? The car has issues with its running gear, even as a trail rig. The steering servo is slow and fades quickly. Again, how can this be addressed without replacing the servo? The problem with this car is that it isn't a kit - wouldn't it be glorious if it were! But I can't criticise that on camera because I'm reviewing what it is, not what it could be. But the electronics are what lets it down, so that's what I discussed. The tires are too firm. They're also too big, given we want a nice scale car here. The body gets us some of the way there. I've got smaller tires, period correct wheels, and gearing for the diffs that I think (I'm guessing) will fit, to help improve the car. I'll also be testing a few different brushed motors and pinions until I can get it driving nicely. It wants to be a great trail rig, but in its current state, it will be mediocre at best. Again, how would you have me do the video if not discussing these shortcomings? Lastly, the 6 problem course: I emphasised that it isn't appropriate for this car. I even said at the start that it would probably not do any of them. But the point of running all cars over this course is to give a relative comparison of ability. Every video it seems someone isn't happy about the 6 problems, but you've gotta zoom out and look at the context: how does this drive on the different obstacles? They are meant to represent the most extreme version of terrain you may take a 1/10 scale crawler over. How does it compare to how the Rescuer did it, for example? What about other scale rigs? The point here is that we can see what the car is like. There's objective data now (as objective as I can be) so we have an idea of this model's ability, relative to other options. Is this not a fair, objective and honest approach? I said throughout the video that this is a scale vehicle rather than a dedicated crawler. As it has issues on that front, I tried to show them too. Went to pains to demonstrate it. Look, I get your point, but I'm not convinced it's applied fairly to this video. I'll think on what you said some more and again, I appreciate your thoughts here. Maybe I'm missing something. But mindless repetition and running in mental loops is not my thing on this channel; at least, I've worked to ensure that wasn't the case!! Did I fail? I'll have to think about it. Cheers

Thanks yoshi, just saw your comment. I think context is the missing element here. @christianrotola3, I mean, look at the last update video I did for a big release. Was it just a standard 'add weighted wheels and a better servo'? You can judge for yourself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWTUg6Jpbrmaadk Or even just look at the article I wrote about this car. I said in it that I usually am quite reserved on throwing upgrades at a car mindlessly. But this vehicle really needs them. Too slow for trail, too weak to crawl. It can be better. I really do try for out-of-the-box thinking as much as practical. I'm not here to sell you a car. I'm here to share my thoughts and opinions about something we all love. In this case, I suspect you've simply caught me on a video where the 'in-the-box' approach actually fits this car very well. (Though I'm still hoping to have printable wheel arches ready for you guys!)

i dont understand,it cant crawl and it doesnt have a 2 speed trans for trailing.oh and its inexcusable to use a 2 in 1 esc these days unless its a 90.00 dollar chinese special for the kids. so to be true to you words you should be telling us all that it sucks.
@RCTNT6 ай бұрын
That's a subjective conclusion. It doesn't suck. It's crawl performance sucks, but there's potential. I was 100% honest and complete in sharing my thoughts, observations and conclusions here.

That is based on a full sized vehicle that is mostly bought by Yummy mummies to do the school run in, rarely will it see rocks or dirt.
