Shawn, there was nothing more epic back in the day than Mortal Monday. Actually, your video took me back to the good old days. I’m 44 and still an avid gamer. I truly miss the old console wars and playground disputes over Sega/Nintendo. I miss the days before the internet where I didn’t know everything about a game before it was out. I miss the midnight releases and standing in lines with fellow nerds talking about gaming. I miss the word of mouth cheat codes and tricks. I miss complete games without day one patches and updates. I miss couch competition and cooperative play. And man, do I absolutely miss arcades and putting my quarter on the machine to get “next game”. Just want to say thank you for the years of entertainment you have provided me. Been a fan since long before Stevie Richards intros. It’s been fun watching you and the channel grow and I wish you nothing but success going forward. Cheers.

It is a bit expensive but man, Dave and Buster's can bring the experience of the old arcade games back somewhat. It's not quite the same thing because the games aren't like, bleeding edge compared to what you get at home, but light gun games are still amazing like always.

Scorpions fatality was in the SNES version of the game, the ones that were censored/changed were Kanos, Johnny Cages and Sub-Zeros. And Sub-Zeros censored fatality was actually kind of cool.

I already had a Genesis when MK1 dropped so as soon as I saw that Sega had the uncut version it was a no brainer. But when MKII came to the home console I had bought a SNES as well and the Nintendo version of MKII was AWESOME!!! It’s still my favorite MK game.

I remember going to the arcade when I was 13 years old and I saw that awesome mortal kombat 1 arcade. There was so many people around that machine. And when people would but a quarter on the glass . And yes MK1 sucked on the Snes. But when MK2 I got that game on my birthday and man , let me tell you I had about 20 people stayed at my house that weekend. A memory I would never forget.

Blood code was the only thing that saved the Sega version from not getting washed by the SNES version. That's why you saw what you saw when MK2 came out. SNES stomped the Sega version out. Only saving grace for the Sega version was 'Test Mode''.

The first time I saw MK1 was at my friends’ uncles’ house. I was 10 or 11, and I was blown away. It looked so real (to what was possible on a Genesis at the time) it really does a good job with the digitized actors and it’s backgrounds. Best it could be, let’s put it that way. But yeah, seeing it on a genesis, played on a huge ass floor model tv in the living room, amazed me. Certainly not sonic, or green dog, or sportstalk baseball, some of the games I had at that time

I'll never forget the first time I heard of Mortal Kombat. I never was much of an arcade guy growing up, but my younger cousin was. He was probably 10 around the time, and he was telling me all about this fighting game and how if you won you got the chance to literally ki11 your opponent. He was so excited breaking down all of the fatalities. For a little while I thought he was full of it until I saw it pop up in a GamePro magazine. I ended up getting and enjoying MK1 and MKII for my SNES, but I always was more of a fan of SF.

This topic definitely takes me back to a different time. I can remember when mortal Monday commercials ran rampart through our tvs, it was the talk of the neighborhood. I can remember all of the rumors and finding reptile by accident. Getting the strategy guides later on, mastering the fatalities and of course that Infamous code that no one could figure out but was out there. There was no internet, no social media, none of it. Although when the internet was in the begging stages, it blew our minds. What a great time indeed it was. The world is a very different place now for a number of reasons, positive and negative but it's crazy to speak about these times and every now and then, you get the look of what are you talking about? Nostalgia is a wonderful thing. 💪🔥🙌

I had a SNES and Genesis when MK1 was released. I got it on Genesis because of the blood code. Yes the SNES played better, sounded and looked better. But the Genesis version was more authentic to the arcade. My nephew was 7 when MK1 came out, It was MK for him, he wanted MK figurines, he wanted to be Scorpion for Holloween. MK was everywhere, MKII just made the MK craze so much more. Then UMK3 was in the arcade and the PSX was coming out. MK Trillogy for the PSX was amazing. We still play it together from time to time. He's 38 now, and funny thing is, last holloween He was Scorpion and his wife was Sonya. 90's was a great time to be a teen..

Exactly But at least when MK 2 game out Nintendo learnt their lesson by NOT Censoring the 2nd and 3rd games on the SNES at all while they were Game boy versions of the MK games they kind of sucks its very hard to play a MK game using a game system that doesn't have 4 to 6 buttons on them. That's why the Genesis eventually got a 6 BUTTON controller playing MK 1 on the Genesis with only a 3 BUTTON controller is nearly impossible.

Yea, I was there that time, I was 15 then. Mortal Monday was a huge deal to us. The hype we felt was unreal at the time! I felt sorry for the kids who only had a Super Nintendo and were forced to play the sanitized version at home. We(my brother and I) were blessed enough to have both consoles back then so it didn't effect us. Funny thing is, you can still burn your opponent in the SNES version. So burning people alive was ok but blood and dismemberment was not. Hmm... To be fair, I think Raiden and Sub-Zero's fatality on SNES were actually cool. Raiden zapping the flesh off and crumbling the skeleton and Sub-Zero's deep freeze and shatter made more sense. I think that even inspired the creators to include that as Sub-Zero's new Fatality in MKII, if I'm not mistaken. But yea, the Genesis version was true to the arcade. I'm glad that Nintendo came to their senses when MKII was ported to the SNES and so on. But Nintendo will always be the family friendly, kid safe game company, but I'm sure that's what they strive for. Sega was the "Big kid's game company". They had more of an "edgey attitude" as oppose to Nintendo. But they couldn't keep their sh*t together as a whole and look where they are now.
