I LOVE the pillowy marshmallow guitar sound. It's soooooo soft.

JD is such a cool guy! I first saw him when I was in college playing his 335 through a 100 watt plexi in a tiny little room. I went out that week and put a 335 on layaway. The next time I saw him I told him that story and he let me play his 335. What a guitar! Such a cool moment and one that I will cherish forever.

I think JD is one of the most fascinating players out there. Once i found him i couldnt believe the evolution of his playing. Like eras of JD.....and they are all amazing. Nothing he cant do

Hell yeah, I love that he goes back and forth over the years with the Bigsby on Red, great demarcation points for the different eras

JD is the most astounding guitarist playing today. As a 67 year old guitar lifer since the age of 4, I do not say that lightly. I can confirm that he is also the most humble, polite and nice guy imaginable. I was lucky enough to spend an hour in his company when his band took on 3 small dates in Cornwall UK. Even got to check out and play that red 335. The man has no ego, he justs loves to talk about other people he admires. A huge Bloomfield fan and he turned me on to the Alabama Shakes. He deserves much wider recognition.

JD is one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet, I knew of JD for a while before I met him in 2015 just from KZbin and stuff and the first Simo album that he released. My cousin and his friends go to a lot of live music shows here locally and I just happened to talk to him that day and they said they were going to see this new band Simo at this small local bar here in town and I was shocked that JD would be playing a small place like that here in my little small Indiana town, I show up and sure as shit JD is on stage, this is Marshall stack 1960 burst JD Simo you could hear him playing outside 3 blocks away but anyway I walk in and see him rocking out in the back corner stage and I was just blown away, me and my cousin went up front and just watched the whole entire show, Adam Abrashoff on drums and Elad Shapiro on bass it was to this day one of if not the best showI’ve ever been to. He played for probably 2-3 hours until the bar closed, we knew the owner and were allowed to stay and so I went to the back where JD and the other guys were tearing down their equipment and putting it back in the little sprinter van they had parked out front. I walked up and asked him for a picture which I wasn’t expecting to get I figured I’d get ignored or a sorry I’m busy but he sat down the 100watt hour Marshall head he was carrying to take a photo with me he had his red 335 and the 1960 burst candy just sitting there and he asked if I wanted to hold one of the guitars for the photos and I was blown away and said I would love to, he said grab one and I of course grabbed the burst and was blown away standing there with that guitar that I had just watched him playing on his premier guitar rig rundown, we took the photo which I still have.l and then he asked if I wanted to check out the 335 and I said absolutely and he handed it to me, I played around on it as we talked about music and just bullshitted about how touring was and Adam came up and hung out with us I’m not sure where Elad was I don’t recall seeing him after the gig was over but either way JD and Adam are 2 awesome guys that did not have to take time out of their day to talk to me and my cousin, or let me hold and play around with his expensive guitars but he did he talked to us and joked around with us like we had known each other for ever. We helped them load up the van and they hopped in it and took off to their next gig in Chicago I think it was or near Chicago because it was near where his family lives or had lived at one time. But yeah I know this doesn’t matter but it’s something I’ll never forgot ever and It’s nice to hear that he hasn’t changed now that he is more successful and famous than he was then. I just wish all famous musicians and artists were as nice to their fans as JD fan for life that’s for sure!

I saw JD back in the early 2000's with the Don Kelley Band while passing through Nashville. The hair on my arms raised when I heard JD soar across the fretboard. My buddy who was with me could see that I was visibly moved and asked me about it. I replied that it was like seeing Hendrix or Clapton for the first time in the 60's. Jd's mastery of the guitar was just that mind-blowing. Thank you for that memory, JD.
