I have to say that the solo for the song Ride On is one of my all time favorites, it has so much feel I just love it, I had to learn it by ear cause all the tabs are just flat out wrong. Honestly I suggest for everyone to learn it by ear it just better for your playing in the long run.

Dude, what a wicked-ass segment. I've always been stumped by so many of Angus' solos. You nailed it - it's the Angus scale! Thanks for deciphering that and making it "make sense" for me - and applies to so many other AC/DC songs too, I'm sure. I ran across somewhere someone did a "Slash scale" too. This is the stuff I think needs to be taught more to help people learning guitar soloing not be afraid to look for those notes outside the "minor pentatonic" scale to find those phrases and melodic lines that just grab you. Angus' vibrato is a whole other other segment - someone needs to make a vibrato course.

Great video Robert. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us the cool licks Angus puts into his song. I never try to learn solos note for note but just try to put my own leads together so it feels right in the song. Some guitarists play the same licks and others just what they're feeling at the time as long as the timing of the song is together. (Rusty)

I'll tell you all what I find interesting: The very first time I listened to John Mayall and the Blues Breakers featuring Eric Clapton (the Beano album), I couldn't believe how much it sounded like Angus Young. I know Angus always gives credit to Chuck Berry but, I think he directly copied that style almost perfectly. You can't listen to that Beano record, and tell me that you don't hear Angus Young perfectly. I mean, you almost don't even have to tweak the amplifier settings. It's just so remarkably similar. My favorite part of that song is when Ang plays b---12b---rrr---10~ And then Brian Johnson screeches what sounds like "OUTTA SIGHT!" Or perhaps "OUTTA THE SACK!" It's impossible to hear That little lick is just so good right there. And I agree: That part to around the 20th fret is so fucking good

Thanks for this video - nice work. With the little fast run parts it would help to just play them through in time but super slow at least once. You play them either at full speed or disjointed by explanations of what each note is etc. I just mean for timing's sake it'd be good to hear it played slowly in time.

Cool vid. You did a good job representing Angus.just forget about anyone getting his exact feel because its his exact feel. All you can do is get the spirit and flavor. Accurate bending, cliche licks, and a good dose of bluesy-ness all wrapped up in one solo. Angus Young is underrated for his prowess of the minor penta. All his solos fit the songs perfectly.
