Daemon played this correctly. He knew the princess was being undermined at every turn ( in her eyes). Nobody was taking her role seriously. Daemon gave her what she wanted. To be taken seriously, and not treated like a child. Clever man.

It’s the subtext under the surface that I think they played so brilliantly with their micro-expressions. Daemon’s expression suggests to me that he’s impressed by her boldness - as if he realised in that moment that she could indeed match him. The timing and the script suggest this too; Mysaria walks away, and Rhaenyra uses that moment to say “I’m right here, Uncle”. Really clever. Milly said she and Matt had decided to play the attraction as ‘highly charged but under the surface’, and I think they pulled that off flawlessly in this scene.

Somehow I see those two as the power couple of the show, and I'm here for it. Though I have to suppress the fact that they're uncle and niece and it's gross. Yay for fiction!! lol Also, both are great actors (also Emma D'arcy as well) and Matt Smith really does shine as Daemon. I could never picture anyone else playing that character.

They are Targaryen, besides the House of the Dragon isn't the only house in Westeros to marry between Uncle and niece (House Stark did it), or between cousin (House Stark, Lannister....) They are the only one however who marry brothers and sisters. At least they face the consequences of their preference, unlike House Lannister....

But I was talking about those two, not any of the other incestual characters in the books. Why tf would Otto say to a guard escort Rhaenyra back to King’s Landing when she arrived on a fire breathing creature who’s very protective? What’s the guard gonna do? Get eaten? 💀 The acting in this scene is very well done overall. My favorite part is the entrances Targaryens have with their dragons, demonstrating their power. So badass

After hearing her speak up during the council and seeing this scene I was really excited for her character to be a lot more vocal, (smart like a Margaery or observant like Arya), but somehow her character pretty much went downhill after this. She became more of a whiny, spoiled teenager than someone who showed promise to be a future ruler. This move was reckless but it was a calculated risk, her other actions just proved to be dumber than her character seemed to be (running off into the forest in a tantrum, choosing Laenor as a husband b/c she fked around and found out that not choosing a diff. husband when she had the chance was a horrible idea, letting Daemon ruin her reputation w/o forcing him to marry her in the ways of Old Valyrian so that the King couldn’t annul it, not keeping Alicent on her side and by proxy keeping an eye on Otto, not honing any political/social/educational/battle skills). After getting used to smart characters of GRRM who happen to be women, I was just expecting…more.

Then he tells Rhaenyra he intends to have a child 'one day', which means he won't be having them with Mysaria, which means this whole marriage thing he offered her was a stunt on his part to provoke his brother and get his attention. She was pissed about being used.

The English actors are currently filming season 2 (and most of the actors in HotD are English, so they are not affected by the strike). And the US actors who are on strike have a good reason to strike. With what the studios offer them, only very few could make a living, and if they cannot make a living, we will only get movies with AI, which will be terrible. They are on strike for the future of movies and great shows like this! We should support them! Blame the greedy studios, not the actors for this strike!
