I’m happy with you feeling like you are done with this game, you are correct there only seems like 1 type of playstyle to this game. But I hope this doesn’t mean we won’t get any more videos from you for 6-9 months and you have something lined up to replace it as I truly enjoy your content and miss it when it’s gone for so long. Whatever you do choose as always thank you Rhapsody.

crypto bro is a pretty good encounter, more often than not the price goes way high before crashing down so with good reflexes you can get a few hundred chips without much work

Something to mention about the 4 Mana 7/7. It gives both you and your opponent a card. If it makes you BOTH bust it's essentially forcing a tie because neither of you deal damage. This could have saved you some hits throughout the run.

I also said this last video, but one way they could help improve the balance of the negative cards and the infinite cantrip deck would be to have those negatives apply the inverse of their suits blackjack effect. Suddenly taking a chunk of damage from your accumulated negative hearts or healing the enemy from a negative clubs would make taking those cards have a bigger cost and deck building requirement. But in order to make a "high card" deck be competitive there has to be some restriction on the number of cards you can draw/play in a turn. And as the game stands, this would require a fairly sizable rebalance. One option I could see would be making every additional hit after an opponent has stood COST one advantage, but every time they hit after YOU stand you GAIN one advantage. Multiple encounters would need to change pretty dramatically for this to function, but I think it would lead to a better balance overall.

The Biggest Fan enemy was surprisingly creative. Really neat to see how different a doppelganger can be when played mindlessly rather than with any kind of strategy. Also would seriously love to see a retro Rhaps week or something sometime where you revisit like Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon and Isaac or something. Your videos and the way you talked through the game are what helped me get through the Ascension in Spire! also also do love the idea of just reaching across the table and scratching the other player every time you play that card.

I like the flavour of the four mana seven seven, because not one part of it is lost. The attack/health gets given to the opponent, the mana cost to you, and the card itself has value equal to it's overload cost.

I agree with what you said about building decks in this game. When the demo first came out it looked really cool and I was quite excited for the full release, but I've held of actually buying it, after watching some other youtubers play it, because the build and event variety seems questionable. With that said, their is a final boss and there is an "unlock everything" button in the settings. Would you be willing to do a final episode where you go after the full end, just as a send off and to show it off?

While I have loved watching this series and learning the game as you do, I totally see your point at the end. I’ve only gotten a high value deck to work once and it entailed a lot of value manipulation (ie. Rules card, sweep the leg, doubling opponents cards, and some half cards). I found that run super enjoyable because it made me think more outside the box and be more selective. It was very rewarding and extremely powerful, but as the game stands, it’s just nowhere near as consistent as “throw your whole deck on the board” kinda runs. I really hope the devs find some creative ways to balance higher cost decks/nerf lower cost ones. Either way, cheers! I’m excited to see what you start next 😁!

A simple change is to cap cards per turn

I think dev should remove the negative card, they just easy to pick up and help the already-OP low value deck
@EpsilonRosePersonal2 ай бұрын
@@DarkJoker325 They help help high value decks more than low value decks, since they can give you a buffer to draw into, and low cards already have their own built in buffer.

@@EpsilonRosePersonal My strategy was to only have 0/0.5 value cards with 10s/11s as the only high value cards. I’d consistently get 20-22 and then manipulate what my blackjack value was. I found negatives to add too much variety on that run. Then again, not gonna be the case with all high value decks, just my experience.

Yeah, it seems at this point the play a million cards deck is the most viable playstyle. There's no downsides to playing lots of small cards and the negative cards don't punish you. Hopefully the dev will fix these issues so there can be more variety.

I don't know how standard it is, but somehow I remember a rule existing for standard blackjack that you can win for having 5 cards in hand, so long as it doesn't bust. Maybe if Double Down and beyond added a mechanic to damage you/limit your effectiveness past 5 cards in hand, it wouldn't be so cut and dry of a game. As it stands, this is a good place to leave off a well themed deck building roguelike.

Aww what a shame! I could have gone for a few more runs, see a couple more cards played and some of the ascension levels. But, if you're not enjoying it then it's fair to stop it. good games!

Hey Rhapsody, I'm wondering if you would consider playing Mechabellum? It's an online strategy auto-battler game with robots. I know you don't usually play online games, but I think it's really fun and has a lot of depth. The 1.0 release is right around the corner on September 26th
