I don't know about y'all. But I Love Josh with all my heart. And John aswell, with all my heart. But i feel Josh gets all kinds of shit which he don't deserve. He is an AMAZING guitarist and an excellent member of RHCP!. I wish more people would appreciate this man. He stepped into a place which was impossible to fill, but yet he did it, and he did it well, more than well. THANK you Josh, for being you, and being amazing!. That's it for me, a drunkard idiot who loves music.

Similarly, John *never* gets any shit for leaving the band. The first time, it's understandable, because he was addict, but the second time he left them in an impossible situation. There's a huge cult following for him, and he then leaves them to pick up a guitarist who's ultimately bound the get hate for just refilling the shoes. Glad to see so many people praise Josh in the comment section.

I do prefer John's style of guitar and the way John and Flea play together, but damn I prefer Josh in literally every other aspect. As a human, as a RHCP member, his all-around approach to music. He's so unproblematic and easy-going, so loving and loyal. He saved the band, has tried to make his own mark and has contributed to RHCP being one of the few big old rock bands that hasn't stagnated musically, while also honouring the entire history of the band, and never sees himself as above the band. He was unfairly treated, especially by Flea, and I will miss him as a member immensely. Thank you Josh, thank you for everything.

@@maxiarakaki2127 Flea started hanging out and playing with John and actively kept that a secret from Josh. then when he decided that he wanted john back he called josh to a band meeting, basically told him he's out of the band while they're still half-way through making a new album (which completely blind-sided Josh). not even an hour after firing Josh Flea put up that instagram post on RHCPs page that was just so awfully condensed and put both josh leaving and john rejoining in the same announcement. Josh said that he didn't even have time to call anyone about it, everyone he knew found out through the instagram post before he got the chance to tell them.

I rarely comment on videos, but I just feel like I need to mention this. It's honestly amazes me how after decades of performing and using absolutely everything in them to show how passionate they are about music, the Chili Peppers still maintain that incredibly unique chemistry that every band should strive to replicate and possess. I've grown up listening to them and have become overly obsessed with John Frusciante's incredible sound. I tend to not watch as many concert videos with Josh just because nobody could ever replace the one and only Frusciante. However, after seeing this video of Josh, looking so comfortable with the band and sounding even better on acoustic, I can't explain how happy it makes me to see that my favorite band will always go hard as fuck with what they love. I actually stopped listening after Josh joined. I tried listening to some new songs written with Josh, but they just didn't seem to connect to me. For me RHCP was about the melody and mostly the guitar riffs. When Josh joined that all faded. The guitar went to the background and Bass took over. As filmmaker and drummer, I think they want to make guitar solos look interesting and tense. They might have learned that drummers play louder during solos, make tense faces and big movements with arms. When you bring that closer by zooming, it dramatizes the moment to fit the guitar solo.

just gonna say....I don’t think you’re a REAL rhcp fan if you can’t fully accept josh as the guitarist. I mean he’s been around for two full albums and he’s done a BADASS job on both of them. It gets annoying scrolling through comments and seeing it polluted with tons of “Josh will never live up to John fruisciante”. Like okay we get it, he was great and was around for a long ass time, and yes he also did a kickass job, but he’s gone. And I’m not ashamed to say that I LOVE josh’s performances, just as much as John’s, if not more. You all need to get over John, and stop acting like josh need to “live up” to John, because josh already has, and the getaway just proved that. John’s been gone for long time and josh always delivers a great performance and I love what he’s doing.

i haven't invested much energy or really paid attention to that whole Josh hating thing, i think Josh is a great musician and has his own style, really creative and skilled improviser, though when he solos/bends he's often not in tune, and his vocals aren't his strong point, but other than that.... didn't like most of I'm With You, a couple of pretty good songs, should listen to it again. will check out the b-sides, thanks for the recommendation. The Getaway has TONS of great songs, my only complaint is the way it's mastered, compressed/distorted and hurts my ears - again, nice to hear the songs live!

I used to be one of those guys who hated on anyone who would be the guitarist replacement of JF. But after giving Josh a chance. This is my thinking on it... No one can do Johns crazy weird solo stuff. But Josh comes close in this area so it's good enough. But where Josh beats John is in covers, instrument playing, and happiness. The mans covers are amazing. Just listen to this! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6HSlWSGlpaKrbM People should really listen to that before judging his talent. He plays a ton of instruments too. Not just focus on guitar which is nice because it gives the band more sound. John was better at guitar in my opinion or at least a faster shredder but that doesn't mean everything. And like I said. Josh is getting better. Being a chili pepper guitarist is a massive responsibility to play with all your heart. He's living up to expectations obviously as you can just tell he's getting better all the time. Dude is still young after all. And then there is the happiness factor. John was a dark soul unfortunately. As brilliant and creative as he is... He would often have fits of rage and major issues performing. His history of drugs and shit has sadly effected him in many negative ways. Often to the point where he would only play if the other band mates would bend to his will. He was kind of a control freak. Which was fine because of how creative and good he is at song writing and playing. Dude is music incarnate lol. But sadly it also meant that the other members of the band didn't get to shine as much which sucks because they are amazing too. Keidis is a front man that's never been in any other band. He is the chili peppers. Flea is basically the best bass guitar player ever or at least in the top 10. Chad is also easily in the top 50 best drummers. I would argue that he's the least impressive member of the band but still... Finding a good drummer is hard and he does a great job so you gotta give it up to him. With Josh the band is more balanced. And also has a fresher sound. Arguably not as good as they used to be but also arguably better in some ways sooo... I gotta agree. Great addition to the band : ) So glad they found a guy that's similar to JF but different enough and has a wide taste for independent rock. They could have gotten a hair metal type dude like they did once with Navarro and I don't think it would have been as interesting. Sorry to anyone who disagrees but I feel that one hot minute is their worst album lol. But with Josh things seem to be working great. Really digging their new songs. Maybe not as much as older stuff but sometimes the new stuff really gets me good. Josh is a great addition. Good choice chili peppers! Wish you guys the best on the 3rd album with Josh that comes out hopefully soon : ) And it seems these days that JF is happier living out his days keeping to himself and his love life mainly without the hard touring chili pepper days. Good for him. He's earned it. All things must come to a end eventually and we should be happy with what he's givin us and that the chilis still rock.

You could see some tension between Flea and Josh already here. Flea mistakenly calling Josh "John", and also getting short with Josh when their timing is off 6:51. Even Chad gives Josh a look like "Geez, Flea has gotta relax!" I wish Flea would have been way more diplomatic about just wanting his old friend John back instead of just pushing Josh out like discarded trash. Way better ways to do it besides Instagram.
@sombra111110 ай бұрын
It was Flea who made the mistake, Josh was right. Flea switched notes too soon. I don't know about him getting short with Josh though. I think they just stopped playing because it was wrong and started again. I see him doing that with John too sometimes. The Josh and Chad look could be something else too, maybe Josh said something to Chad about them f*cking up, but not necessarily talking about Flea. Our percepetion of what's happening isn't always what's happening.
