Danny Sands He was in a chivalric society called The Order of the Dragon. That's all I need to say. There's more.. just Wiki him. It's pretty interesting. All the impaling was to the enemy to show them he meant business. He also nailed turbans to the heads of Turkish convoys because they didn't raise their caps to him. (He had a big beef with the Ottoman Turks for ousting him off his thrown when he was 11 and was kept political prisoner for ages). They were at peace at the time, but he had other ideas. And went on a rampage while infiltrating Ottoman bases by speaking Turkish which he picked up when he was kept prisoner. And then sent a message to the Ottoman leader saying: "I have killed peasants men and women, old and young, who lived at Oblucitza and Novoselo, where the Danube flows into the sea... We killed 23,884 Turks without counting those whom we burned in homes or the Turks whose heads were cut by our soldiers...Thus, your highness, you must know that I have broken the peace." TL;dr - He was a bad ass.

I was thinking about him as well. And the horse stuff is only the tip of the iceberg. He had incestuous relationships with his three sisters, got one of them pregnant, and removed the baby from her womb (maybe the earliest c-section). And he was so self-conscious about his baldness that when going out on the streets it was a crime to look at him from above.

I've always thought the story of Joanna is actually very sad and sweet. Sure, it's gross to kiss and caress a cadaver, but the fact she was so in love she wasn't grossed out by the fact he was dead and couldn't accept to never see him again pours so much love it makes the thing sweet. I don't like she was called mad because of this, more like "madly in love". Anyway ok in the description it says "some rulers have bizarre habits" but since the title of the episode is "unbelievably evil leaders" she really doesn't belong there, love is an extremely positive feeling, and she was so in love she gone kinda mad, she was filled with love, there wasn't a single cell of evilness in her, so you should have not mention her or use the description as the video title. And did someone not know that Vlad the Impaler is the "real" Dracula? I thought that was a common fact everyone knows!

What about Elizabeth Bathory AKA The Blood Countess, she was AWESOME. She was a noblewoman that would imprison and torture young girls, but her crimes escalated when she was led to believe that blood would preserve her youth and beauty (you see she was known for her beauty). This was confirmed by her servants, who were said to be witches. Eventually she was found out when she kidnapped girls of noble blood, so she moved somewhere else. Then she moved back and was locked in her room for two years, before dying.
