I have to say that I love your style! Your color choices, both of the sweaters you are wearing and the quilt behind you are all stunning! Thank you for some great project ideas and yarn sources (and other educational info) and thanks for sharing your experiences!

That is so flattering, thank you! Sometimes I feel like I need to branch out more in terms of color, but I keep gravitating to my favorite handful of colors and perhaps there’s a reason 😊

I wish I could go to Rhinebeck. Wow! I live in Australia but maybe one day. We have a wool day and a fibre day but it hasn't been on the last 2 years of course. Fingers crossed for this year !

Thank you so much for this Rhinebeck experience. I have never gone and really appreciate getting this glimpse.

Gee, Mel, thanks a lot... I didn't even KNOW I wanted a fabulous, museum-quality Shaker sewing box. But now I do. Last Christmas I bought a set of needles and some wool to learn knitting, started down the rabbit hole of yarn-adjacent spending opportunities. Every new hobby, right? I am justifying this new gift by comparing the cost to other (non-existent ) hobbies like skiing and yachting that are even more expensive and merchandise heavy.
@melmakesstuff3 жыл бұрын
LOL! I'm cracking up over the comparison to yachting! But yes... I like to justify it as a pretty cost-effective hobby if you divide $$ spent by hours of enjoyment :-)

Thanks for letting us see Rhinebeck without having to travel half way round the world. Love your choice of colours for the Gudren Johnston sweater.

It’s so funny that you said you drove through Albany during rush hour and the traffic wasn’t bad. I lived in Albany from fall 2020 to Sept 2022 and I was so confused as to where everybody was! I couldn’t tell if it was because of the pandemic or because there isn’t a huge population or if it’s because Albany is very spread out…? I still don’t know.

I was basically there at the same time, visiting the booths in the opposite direction as you did :D Also, I will have to purchase that wooden notions basket this year and hopefully we get to meet as well :)
@melmakesstuff2 жыл бұрын
Definitely, let's plan to meet up! That will be SO fun. I sort of want another wooden box/basket this year too... need to start saving up now!

Aww thanks for taking us along for the journey!! I love that you stopped at Green Mountain & Battenkill! Hope to join you again one of these upcoming years. Frank's sigh as you were driving in cracked me up. 😂 I think I felt the same way LOL!

HA! Seriously, that drive into the lot is like... what am I getting myself into. Missed you this year - that 2019 trip was SO fun with you :-)

Hi Mel! Your recap was really fun to watch and as you purchased things from non-yarn booths it helped me to learn about what else is at the festival. Your purchases are beautiful and I agree that Gudrun's book is stunning. Looking forward to see you cast on for the sweater and talk about your process. And I really like your version of the Tegna :

I don't think I've tried that saddle shoulder construction but I'm intrigued! Love the clean lines of that pattern.
