Really interesting tutorial! Been working on more mesh modeling and this is such a great help, thanks for the upload!

Thanks for the mesh improvements. I have import scann into Rhino 6 and 7 and have struggled with boolean operations.

if you own v7, grab the v8 wip and try the new mesh booleans. Please let us know if you find any that fail at tech@mcneel.com

I really love your teaching style and wry humor. I think I have learned more from your modeling example videos then any other training materials. One request, however, that would help... just now , watching this tutorial, at 16:46, you clicked two points and that connected the 4 faces....... i had to stop , pause and zoom the video to see what command you typed. "stitch" in this case (who knew?) Is there a way to enlarge your command line in on the screen recording tool so we noobs can follow your commands? maybe a small split in the window with an enlarged command line?? This would really help, especially with my declining post 60 vision ;)

thanks for the note- this would be a good addition...I'll see if I can figure out how to do that.

please do more FIX type videos. This was amazingly helpful. my biggest bottleneck and brain breakdown is crappy meshes. Thanks

Thanks.. when I buy meshes and want to do something with them for 3d printing or CNC (making a case) these models are beautiful but a mess of gaps and separated parts. For example, I purchase a model of a Nokia phone. it looks good when rendered but it has many flaws in the model are keeping it from water tightness.. I couldn't wait to shrink wrap these to make them useful as soon as V8 arrived. Im not having great luck. would be a good topic for one of your stellar tutorials to take a purchased mesh and shrink wrap to print.. when I create models, its one thing but someone else's is another..... thanks

Could you please add a display mode where instead of a surface I can only see its control mesh? (So I don't have to ExtractControlPolygon, work with it, and then update the surface to match the modified mesh.) Actually pretty much what Tab does for SubD surfaces.

is their anything coming to fix naked edges in a nurbs surface to make objects easier to make watertight ? the stuff that gets sent to me to print that I have to spend time fixing is very frustrating when the naked edges are very small .
@Rhinoceros3d2 жыл бұрын
RemoveAllNakedMicroEdges is a command to try, but that will only fix things that are small dots. if you are printing, don't even bother fixing the nurbs. Simply shrinkwrap it in v8. (or fix the mesh as shown in this video) see this video, its a game changer for printing stuff. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaPNaZR6iMZ_gNU

@@Rhinoceros3d edge sharpness weighting? being able to boolean sub-Ds staying within sub-D geometry?
@Rhinoceros3d2 жыл бұрын
@@Vanastarr subd booleans are not going to happen anytime soon, that is a HUGE project that few people have any decent answers to. Daniel Piker has a grasshopper def that does subd Booleans but it's a long way from being useful. check this thread- discourse.mcneel.com/t/subd-union-help/100628/10?u=theoutside Variable creasing is a current project we hope to have in v8. edge weighting is tricky because all of our SubD data is required to convert to NURBS, weighting can wreak havoc with that conversion and if we did get it to transfer to the NURBS data, weights often cause issues with data transfer to other programs.
