He is quality of course and also no fool - that is Steve Gadd on drums... former Steely Dan and arguably the best session drummer in the world. In his former band he had Steve Ferrone on drums (Average White Band followed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Nathan East on bass and Greg (I really wrote most of Thriller) Phillinganes on keys. Andy Fairweather Low as his backup guitarist for over a decade - these are all proven journey men of popular music and recording. Who was Clapton's best friend and the guitarist he admired (even more than Jimi, Buddy, Albert and Robert)... George Harrison. The mans got class.

Clapton's dynamics are what makes him so special to me. He has the ability to play with high energy and shred like he's getting paid by the note, but the solo in this track just builds. The way he layers the foundation and builds to the climax is incredible. They'll worship him for his flash, but they'll keep coming back for that technique.

Quite possibly the most successful, well rounded musician ever. He was apart of five, FIVE great bands- the Yardbirds, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, and Derek and the Dominos. Not to mention his solo career is phenomenal. He's a top three guitarist of all time, along with a voice that compliments his playing style oh so very well. To top it all off, the adversity he has overcome throughout his life to become what he has, is more important than anything he's accomplished musically. His autobiography is truly a great read.

Brian loved that song I SHOT THE SHERIFF so much he constantly played it over and over again . He was very proud of his brother Eric . Brian bought himself a motorcycle . and gave me a ride on it just before I went home on Leave in 1974 . The last words I said to him was " Don't kill yourself on it ' . and that's what happened , he lost control of his motorcycle and was killed . I found out about it when I returned to Base after my Leave was over . Eric Clapton was there for Brian's funeral I was told . Brian was a cool guy and a great friend . RIP Brian .

YES! I noticed that about Clapton too ! Unlike actual humans his voice improved with age ! ....lol...but true ..WTF Also his groove got a little better too....and the raw emotion in his Solos is back again !....when I was young I already played Guitar and when I first heard Clapton I couldn't believe it (with Cream ). I noticed first on 'Your Father's Eyes' - Clapton really turned into a great Vocalist . And what a Solo on Crossroads ! Great back up Singers too.

The reason I hate this rendition of this song is because this artist changed a very powerful line in the lyric. "Every time I plant a seed He said kill it before it grow He said kill *THEM* (black people) before they grow." This is why I dont feel like reggae music is for white people because this is what they do everytime they dip into our shit. Reggae was created to scream out the struggles of my people, not for people like this guy to manipulate the lyrics and change the meaning.

ERIC CLAPTON's only Hot 100 #1, solo or with one of his numerous bands, was his cover of BOB MARLEY's "I SHOT THE SHERIFF," which he initially refused to include on his album "461 OCEAN BOULEVARD" because he felt it would be insulting to Marley. Members of his band and management persuaded him that it should be included not only on the album but also released as a single.
