Somebody explain to me why this song was not considered the absolute BEST in the rock of its era?! Most people - even those who appreciate "Higher" - have probably never even HEARD the song. Can't believe it wasn't it heavy rotation at radio stations! Slamming drums, the crazed brilliance of Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw's excellence in songwriting, delivery and guitar, the great stage presence of Jack Blades... the sheer raw talent on this stage cannot be matched. Best of all is watching the unabashed joy of the four as they rocked other bands out of the stratosphere AND their joy of playing awesome music together is so clear. SO unlike the vastly airbrushed, commercialized "heavy metal" that was so popular at the time. It's truly a such a higher level, I can't believe they aren't remembered as the exception to slick rock. What I would have given to have been to one of those concerts - the energy is staggering!!

@@robhat5042 People started to pay attention to his ravings. The Nuge was and will always be one of the 'foundation' guitarists. Tremendous talent on six strings. It's just that no one paid much heed to whatever happened to pop out of his mouth until after Damn Yankees broke up-if you really check back, you'll find that Nugent has always said basically the same things, just somewhat less exaggerated. For the record, Tommy Shaw says Nugent is like two different people: a warm, actually caring individual in person who keeps up with stuff like your mother's illnesses, and a raving lunatic (my terms, not Shaw's) when he's put in front of a camera and no one shoves a guitar into his hands instead of putting a mike near his mouth.

Listening to Nugent's solo work in Damn Yankees and his previous years really illustrates how diverse a player he truly is....

Cat Scratch Fever is lame in comparison. He pulled out all the stops and gave it his all for this band.

The further away we get from when this was released. The more its realized what a great band this was. Perhaps even the perfect rock band when you talk about song writing ability, musicianship, vocals and harmonies, chemistry and live performance you can check every box..This song still stands the test of time.

I saw them live on this tour. They had a big ramp behind the stage. Nugent would run up the ramp to pick up speed and then slide on his knees all the way across the stage, leaning BACKWARDS!! He never missed a note! Truly the best live guitar performance I have ever seen. It's been decades, but I can still see it in my head, unforgettable 🙂✌️

Damn yankees...if a Jeannie gave me 3 wishes...1 would be to see these guys back together....for at least one more album and world...not US but a world tour...that would an epic event in rock and roll.

Every bone of their creativity was laid bare in this song... even left "High Enough" in the dust. The transparent fingerboards during the solos provide a visual hammer, driving every note home. Not many bands out there anymore who can encapsulate an audience so completely into the visceral heart of their song. Amazing doesn't begin to describe this level of performance and creativity.
