"Lotta Love" was written and recorded by Neil Young before Nicolette Larson's version was released as the lead single from her 1978 album 'Nicolette' 🎶

Man! What's up? I've been playing this song over and over again the last weeks, after losing track of it the last three decades; It came back in my life big time! And now I see it uploaded everywhere and recommended to me all the time. I guess it's gonna take a lot of love to get out of this duality thinking dominated, evil current times! And it's gonna take a lot of love for me personally as well to watch all the sadness unfolding the coming years I feel. Lots of love to y'all!

Good tune indeed, but I've got to ask; why would Ike have more than double its embarked complement? You must be including the crews of all the escorts? Now I'm picturing all the 1MCs of all the frigates, destroyers & auxiliaries tied in with Ike's & playing this tune- that would be wicked awesome!

Neil Young wrote and was the first to record Lotta Love. Nicolette Larson listened to a cassette Young had recorded the song, and she complimented Young how much she loved the song. He told her to keep the tape and the song was hers to cover. The rest is musical history.

This song, and everything about it, is a masterpiece - Nicolette's voice, her sexiness, the horns that jump in at exactly the right moment! You can tell a song is great, when you never get tired of listening to it. Certainly the case here..... As soon as I hear those horns, it takes me instantly back to the late 70s, when I was in college. I'm still enjoying my life now, but those were good times. For the young people out there, sorry, but we grew up with the best music. No doubt about it. Our bad years were still far better than your good years!

Nicolette Larson died on December 16, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, as a result of complications arising from cerebral edema triggered by liver failure. She was 45 years old. According to her friend Astrid Young, Neil Young's half-sister, Larson had been showing symptoms of depression, and her fatal seizure "was in no small way related to her chronic use of Valium and Tylenol." Two benefit concerts were held in Larson's honor in February 1998. Tribute concerts were held on the 10th anniversary of her death in December 2007 and also the following year.
