Okay, perfect. But how do I plan these textures and print them? I work with inflatables and have difficulty flattening an applied texture.
@RhinoGuide4 ай бұрын
You can use the command ExtractUVMesh but I'd suggest using the command in Rhino 8 which includes a 1 to 1 option for the size. If that doesn't help or I misunderstood, post to the Rhino user forum with a sample file explaining what you need to do. discourse.mcneel.com/

Thx for the video! Is there a tutorial how you built the shoe?
@RhinoGuide3 жыл бұрын
Not yet, I'll add it to the list! Essentially it was a NetworkSrf split into sections that were then QuadRemeshed into SubD surfaces. There are alternate workflows too starting with a SubD last included in the Help menu > Learn > Samples.

Hi there, is there a way to download the model to follow your exercise?
@RhinoGuide Жыл бұрын
Hi, In the Help menu of Rhino 7 > Learn Rhino > Tutorials and Samples > There's a SubD Sneaker model that is almost the exact same model. I made some parts meshes with the Mesh command and others polysurfaces with ToNURBS to show how Unwrap works on different geometry types.

Will do, the Rhino 8 WIP has a bunch of improvements in this area :)

Slightly off topic, but what are the viewport display settings You are using? Your render preview looks so good. Ambient Occlusion? Environment? Shading? This looks better than the off the shelf render display mode. Thanks!
@RhinoGuide2 жыл бұрын
I believe I just changed the backdrop color to a grey instead of white so that the checker texture was easier to see. I also probably changed the environments in the Rendering panel for reflection and skylight using the ones from the library... Incheon Airport I think :)

Great tutorial but Rhino UV mapping is still extremely cumbersome and awkward, compared to other programs. Texture density is vastly different across objects and handling seams is very difficult, due to the lack of a proper uv editor. I hope v8 brings major upgrade.
@RhinoGuide2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, there are a number of UV and texture updates in the works in the Rhino 8 WIP. I'll share your feedback with the developers but I'm hoping we can minimize stretch better too in the future. If you have a model that is posing some issues for you specifically, post that part of it to discourse.mcneel.com/ if you can as well.

@@RhinoGuide Sorry to dig this up, but what is the stance in being able to include support for UDIMs in the future?
@RhinoGuide2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDonkerZ Hi, There isn't any active work on UDIM support currently in Rhino but I made sure that the request is filed for the developers. You can ask about RH-69319 on the user forum discourse.mcneel.com/ in the future to check if there is any movement on that one.

This model is very close to one that ships with Rhino 7 as a sample. Check out the Help menu > Learn Rhino > Tutorials and Samples for the SubD Sneaker model. I just removed all the materials and mapping from that model and converted some of the SubDs to meshes or polysrfs for the video.
