Rhoda is divorced. They made Joe look like the bad guy when all he did was bend over to her until she destroyed the marriage. And THIS episode was awful making Brenda look dumb for trying to make her man feel better. Geeze. Rhoda never did learn & ended up alone.

Lol how did Rhoda destroy the marriage ?
@RepentfollowJesus2 жыл бұрын
Rhoda didn't destroy the marriage. It takes 2 to make it or break it. She made a few mistakes but Joe was a jerk and never should have married her in the first place. He didn't want to be tied down and I dont think he was over his 1st wife. Joe didn't want any give and take on any deeper issues. The marriage counselor helped kill what was left of their marriage.

Rhoda has no right to impose her dictates on another person's relationship. Fascist. Let Brenda and Bennie work out their own relationship. It's not like Rhoda is an expert on picking men or keeping a relationship going. Brenda isn't being a 'non-person' because she likes to make her fiance feel special. Bennie didn't ASK or demand that Brenda stop BEING herself. Brenda decided to start DOING something else. Being and doing are separate things. Why was Rhoda grovelling to Doyle for a job, on commission only, etc. somehow dignified; how is being a wage-slave for a boss who cares only about the bottom line somehow dignified, but loving acts of service to the most important person in your life makes you a non-person?

I am not from a more traditional culture but there was nothing wrong with Brenda trying something to cheer up Benny. Maybe that wasn't the right thing in the end, but she is trying to give him love and support. Rhoda was too critical.

The path to destruction is paved with good intentions. Brenda's intentions were good and pure her execution was just wrong. Poor thing was just trying to be a good wife. Nothing wrong with trying to be a good woman for a good man. This was just extreme and left her undignified 🤷 chalk it up to trial and error.

Funny that the awful dress Brenda wears is hardly worse than how they dressed Rhoda in this part of the series.
@colibri14 жыл бұрын
The way Rhoda dressed in 1977-78 was very fashionable at the time. That last outfit she has on in this episode, the flounced, calf-length prairie skirt, full blouse, loose vest, and full, calf-high boots, all in earthtone natural fibers, looks a lot like Ralph Lauren's 1978 collections.
