My ridgeback died one month ago. He was a dream dog. smart , stong , sweet. But he knowed what he want , you couldn’t let him do something if he didn’t saw his profet from it 😂. Ridgebacks keep a puppy in their mind. They always want to have control if other people come over. In 2 weeks i have my new puppy. This is hands down my favorite dog breed

I lived in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) for 2-1/2 years right after independence. I never once saw a Rhodesian ridgeback. I did see a few Boerboels, a large mastiff like South African breed. I also saw the rural Africans' dogs, some of which had a ridge of backward growing hair down their back. The ones I saw looked to be about 25--35 lbs. I suspect the Rhodesian ridgeback has a bit of blood from both of these kinds of dogs.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's always interesting to hear about the different dog breeds around the world. Although never having lived in the African continent I have heard marvellous stories of ths breed and have always been puzzled by the question in my mind " how can a lion hunter be domesticated ?"

The line is documented and you can google the origins.

She fed her Ridgeback food from the “table”. Healthy or not, that’s Irresponsible as hell.

It's definitely a controversial topic! Feeding dogs from the table can lead to some health issues, but it’s interesting to see different perspectives on pet care.

Lab on the video is super fat! Labrador is healty if you can see he's ribs when walking, anything over that is way too much by veteranians. The irresponsible growers for show dogs always make them obese.

You make an excellent point! Maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for Labradors, and it's important for breeders to prioritize the health of the dogs over appearance.
